Charlie Chaplin Cocktail Recipe || 3-ingredient Cocktails
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
The Charlie Chaplin was created at New York City’s Waldorf Astoria hotel prior to the 1920s. It was featured in the 1934 Old Waldorf Astoria Bar Book but a later revision altered the proportions. Due to the sugar content of the apricot liqueur and sweetness imparted by the sloe gin, ideal dilution is key to a great drink.

For real!
okay the editing on this is fantastic. Sound effect while Steve spins the shaker tin and motion stabilization on his face while he's shaking the drink are good fun
My first time ever going to a cocktail bar, after exhausting the cheaper drinks on the Menu I asked the bartender to make me something special. Gin being my preferred he made one of these. It was absolutely sensational! So glad to see you've made it in a video now.
That colour is so vibrant. Lovely!
I had a couple bottles of sloe gin a while back. It took me years to finish them off. I was always looking for new drinks to make with it. This was one of the best ones.
The editing keeps getting better and better! Love your videos, and your app was EXACTLY what I was looking for! I've tried so many new cocktails just from the stuff I already have on hand
This inspired a deep dive into sloe gin cocktails recipes. Thank you for sharing! ❤️ the historical context and manner of distillation process comments.
Just asked for this drink in a local bar and it's bloody delicious!!!

What a nice shake effect. Pretty cool
Haven't made anything with Sloe Gin in forever! Thanks for the inspo!
Steve, Love the glass, ans some neat editing in this video. The cocktail looks really sharp. Thank you.
Sloe Gin - Love it!
I love what a lot of Australian distillers are doing with sloe-style gins. Anther's cherry is just amazing.
Love the glass!
Looking forward to trying this one. Sloe Gin Fizz’s are one of my go-to drinks during the warmer months, and I haven’t found too many other good uses for sloe gin.
Just made it, delicious.
Sipsmith is my preferred sloe gin. Love my sloe gin fizzes. ❤
Fantastic drink
Fruity and delicious! Love that glass!
It is actually surprising how well balanced it is, I love this drink

You’ve convinced me to give it a go right now. Back in 10 minutes. 😂
That's a great simple looking Cocktail. I've been needing to get a bottle of sloe gin for awhile now and this might be the inspiration I need. Cheers
Thank you for giving me the final push to go out and pick up a bottle of sloe gin! Been meaning to do that for months. Grabbed a bottle of Empress on a whim while I was there, inspired by another of your videos I saw recently haha
The music as we wait to hear the verdict was great 👍
I love 3 ingredient cocktails. Haven’t had a bottle of sloe gin forever. Really need to grab a bottle.
Extra zoom in on the smile during the shake cam. The people want it.
Sloe Gin is one of my all-time favourite alcohols! The best brand I tried so far is probably Elephant Sloe Gin :)
Dude how good are 3 ingredient drinks!! Love them! Killer episode bro 🤘🏼

Great video edit. Super smooth and easy content. 👍
As always great video. I see the use of the shake cam, nice. Looks like I will be getting some Apricot Brandy for my home bar.
Now that looks like a fun combination
I finally restocked my sloe gin. It’s been out of stock locally every time I visit the store. I haven’t made this one yet, but that will now change!
Looks great, and the glass is really nice! I’m no mixologist, but even if the wash line was a little low, I think it would look real good in that glass. If you garnished, it might make up fir a low wash line. Anyway, great work!
Love the camera shake while you He-Man shake the shaker. And you are so lucky to get Plymouth Sloe Gin. We have Plymouth Gin in Canada, but not their Sloe. In fact, most of Canada has only one variety of Sloe: Hayman's!!
Interesting
you're smile when you shake it,so nice :D love your videos
Hi Steve, we make our own slow gin, not difficult. This looks tasty and comments support that. I will make one this weekend. Nick from York
Anyone interested/enjoying sloe gin NEEDS to try west winds wild plum gin! It's just like a sloe gin but with more depth, honey syrup, citrus and tartness that is hard to beat.

STEVE!!! I def need some sloe gin. I love 3 ingredient cocktails as well, so I need to make this! CHEERS!!!!!!
Great camera work and editing today. Congrats to you and Mrs Steve. I have recently discovered a Breakfast Martini. Surprisingly it uses orange marmalade. Surprisingly nice especially for Mother's Day brunch.
My favourite drink !!!
One of my favourite cocktails to get at 1806 in Melbourne
Your smile..... Takes me to another level..... By the plz suggest some champagne
New into cocktails, basically started last weekend through a company zoom event. Decided to expand my menu, ran into Steves channel here. Love it! Simple, informative, to the point, fun, not trying to get those monetization minutes. Subs and likes

I've taught a few of those and had people's eyes opened to how fun cocktails can be. Going down this rabbit hole will be a fun ride!
Its been on my list too But I could never find any good Sloe Gin. Literally just found a bottle of Plymouth today at a Liquor store. What timing!
I also like simple drinks. This one looks really good. Have you ever done any clips on after dinner drinks. Like ice cream drinks.
I ❤️ stylish stemmed glasses, but I FOR SURE would knock that beautiful glass over - there’s a reason my grandma called me “grace” 😉 I usually stick to rocks glasses, tumblers, high balls, and stemless wine glasses for that very reason. So, my first reaction was “whoa!!!” I’ve been curious about Sloe gin, and gin being my go-to including adding it to my Pimm’s and Luxardo’s tasty sour Cherry gin for gimlets or a Tom Collins, I may need to stop & get me a bottle to try. Thanks as always! Missed seeing your videos lately and 🤞 your gin (and iPhone app) will be available in the states soon!
It's also in the revised and expanded Waldorf Astoria Bar Book by Frank Caiafa, (2016). Looks good and It will give me an excuse to pick up a bottle of Sloe Gin :)
Wow really loved how you captured the essence of being...well, you! The little remarks and just natural act. Gotta put on my to-do-list, if I ever get my hold to some sloe :D
I don't even drink alcohol, I just really like your content
Sloe gin is so easy to make at home! Sloe berries, sugar and a cheap as gin, mix, leave for a while and enjoy! My favourite sloe gin cocktail is sloe gin, ginger beer and lime. 😊 Sloe berries grows wild in the nature in a lot of European countries. My first batch tasted almost identical to the plymouth one.

woukd love to see you do a string of videos spicing up normal simple spirit/mixer combos, like adding some pineapple juice to white rum and coke, or some orgeat to a vidka lemonade. terrible examples but like some crazy ideas like that, but that actually work. could be fun and i'd love to see you do it, and makes for a cool way to spice up some normal drinks

Hey Steve the Bartender, I just start watching your videos and i like them a lot. So a friend of mine asked me what i was doing and i said "watching drink videos of Steve the Bartender." She replies: "who's that?" My response: "The Russell Crowe of Bartending."...:) Keep Mixing!... Peace!
Well consumed one. Then tweaked one. Never would I have independently combined sloe gin (Plymouth) and apricot liqueur (Orchard). Surprising to me they mate quite well. The fact that the 2 liqueurs are low in alcohol (26% and 24% respectively) I found Steve’s recipe lacking in will power. For my 2nd drink - the tweak - I added 1.5 oz of Plantation 3 Star (white) rum. It seemed much better balanced and filled my coupe nicely. Liked it. Quite a bit. It won’t break anyone’s back to toss in a jigger of dry white rum and defy Steve’s note worthy 3 ingredient comment. 😜
Bro ur making a pro out of me 🥂 tha nk you and this new editing style 😍

Steve, along the 3 ingredient cocktail, I think you'd love THE LONGSHOREMAN Keeping the 3 ingredient theme. REALLY darn tasty this one 1 1/2 oz Rye 1/2 oz Punt E Mes 1/2 Averna Over old fashioned glass, orange peel & block ice

A local distributor in Adelaide but they are available internationally... they are part of the "NUDE Savage collection".
Actually, do you find those long dainty glasses practical in a bar? I've some lovely ones for home, just wondering how they translate for a bar setting
@Barprints
3 жыл бұрын
From my time in hospitality, I've gotta say, it depends on the bar. Places where you find people sitting/standing and sipping at a table are great, but with lots of standing, dancing, etc with people bumping into each other can make them a pain.
@conororeilly5492

@@Barprints ah thanks, yeah i figured it's not a one size fits all for glassware, just would kind of like to have my own bar at some point (even a pop-up bar for a few weeks) and trying to mitigate the pain where i can 😄
@Barprints
3 жыл бұрын
@@conororeilly5492 Makes perfect sense! Even with a pop-up the regular coupe is a great substitute for the glass. Sturdier and easier to handle (serving, drinking, cleaning and storing)👍🏽
Why the double strain? XxX
I have found simple 3 ingredients cocktails rely heavily on the quality of the ingredient. For this one if the apricot liqueur/brandy was a very sweet artificial flavour it would be a problem. Guess I’m making one soon 😋
Nice one ! I waited nearly two years for this Video actually the Charlie Chaplin is my favourite Cocktail! Unfortunately you didnt get everything right about the sloe Gin. But maybe its because of the translation. The plant is very Common in Germany/ Europe in General and the Sloe Gin has it’s roots Here as well but in fact it’s Not a Gin but a Gin based Liqour (high percentage in Sugar but very unlikely to have More than 30 percent alcohol). Greetings from the Bar 3M in Augsburg 😉 And try a twist of Grapefruit on this, Those bitter notes Are amazing.

What detail was wrong? It is technically a gin liqueur but EU legislation permits it to simply be referred to as “sloe gin”.
@moritzmoder8064
3 жыл бұрын
@@StevetheBartender_ Of course there are tons of rules about this in the EU but after all those years the name Sloe Gin has established itself. Basically all you said in your awesome video and previous comment was right. In order to ensure the sloe juice is extracted from the fruit you need to add lots of sugar (up to 150 gramms per liter - but thats really a lot) and after adding sugar and a flavour to an alcohol - in this case Gin - your product is basically a liqueur even if the name says otherwise. Thats why I mentioned the translation: in Germany its "Schlehenlikör" - "Sloeliqueur". Even though Sloe Gin became popular thanks to Britian as you already mentioned, its a big thing here in Germany too. Especially from the Destillery "Lantenhammer" in Bavaria you learn to love the Sloe Berry in all variations. If you like to try it yourself I am happy to send you a bottle or two - proving that the shipping fee to Australia isnt stealing my organs :) Thanks for your videos and inspirations - Cheers

@@TravelWithMeVlogs The place that claims to have invented the dawa uses plastic sticks these days, so I don’t think there is much flavor expected to be imparted by the stick itself. You could likely get the same result by just dipping a spoon in honey and then stirring a caipiroska.
