You said it for me. Just remember the scenario that Charles comes from. He has had to fight life's obstacles from a place where there's not much to reflect on for direction. Na not for a champion. You can't miss weight as a sitting champ. Only ever happened once with Nico Montoya and she was in the hospital. First active champion to miss weight and have to fight for a belt they can't win.

I feel like there’s definitely something wrong with the scale tbh, and just by the way the commissions handle themselves with mma I wouldn’t be surprised. And for the people saying “how could he not lose half a pound in an hour???” When you’re that dehydrated and you’ve cut a lot of weight already, it’s incredibly hard to lose more especially half a pound in just an hour. He obviously weighed himself in the back and that scale said 155. Either way, I can’t believe they really took the belt away from him after he earned it the hardest way

@@maxhennion9344 Yeah but it’s still above weight. Weight classes aren’t speed limits, you can’t just be in the general area of the limit and be ok. You have to be WITHIN the limit. I feel like everyone forgets that because almost always people weigh in right on the limit instead of inside the limit. Everyone that grew up boxing or wrestling knew they had to be right on weight, Charles is a veteran, he knows the rules. It’s not like the weight makes a difference it’s just the precedent.

Crazy to think he used to make 145 and before that fought at 155 without a cut at all. He's put on alot of size and it shows now that he can't make weight. Wonder if it's time to go up and challenge Usman

*UFC need to have official scales available 24/7 during fight week.* He missed by less than a 1lbs, it’s likely that his scale at the hotel said he was clear and he wasn’t due to small differences. Plus, raising your arms like that might make the weight heavier slightly on the scales.

Someone mentioned how hard it is to cut that last half pound when you’re already dehydrated to that extent, and they’re right. If you’ve been there you know that it’s hell. It’s much easier said than done. I feel for him but at the same time weight management is key to this sport as it is in wrestling. Hopefully he can get passed this and come in with a clear head tomorrow. This just made Justin night a bit easier bc he’s coming in fresh and on weight.

Yeah I literally called this shit yesterday when you posted the video. Somebody fucked with the scales backstage.

I remember when Khabib weighed in for the fight against Justin. They barely even looked at that scale and called the weight before the scale even set. It doesn't look to me like Charles is getting that same treatment. Also, this leaves the door wide open at Lightweight for Conor in his comeback.

Khabib never missed weight while holding belt. Conor is too big for 155 and will fight 170. There’s no conspiracy. Only one to blame is Charles for not cutting weight. Everyone else made weight first try. Charles was weighed three times. Missed all three.

It’s so hard for me to believe that Charles was over by .5, took an hour to lose the half pound, and then came back weighing the exact same as when he did before. Even if your body is completely drained from a bad weight cut, you can still do some calisthenics in the sauna or other methods to lose fluids (like chew wads of gum and spit in a bottle for an hour while you sweat in the sauna). This all plays right into Conor McGregor returning to the UFC and skipping the line for a title shot. When you REALLY think about the state of the division now… If Charles loses he won’t fight for a title for at least two fights. If he wins then Dana might make him fight again before a title shot as punishment for missing weight. Justin wins he get the title. He loses and he has to fight 1-2 more times to get another shot. Chandler and Tony won’t fight for a title regardless of who wins. Islam and Dariush still need to fight before Islam gets a shot, as per Dana. Porier is supposedly moving up to 170. Which brings us back to Gaethje and Oliveira… both have been open to fighting Conor. Why wouldn’t either of them want the money fight at this point? The UFC would have no problem inserting Conor either because it’ll sell PPVs. It’s crazy how this all lines up so conveniently for Conor lol. It would suck to see it imo but we could be seeing Conor fight for the title next. Only time will tell.

Man!! Idk if I agree with these rules. This is my first time ever hearing of this. He earned that belt. To me it's like a slap in the face from UFC. They train and their whole life's about training so to become a champion it takes more sacrifice than you or myself can ever endure. I think there should be some other kind of disciplinary rule

@@MT-rr1og no one. It will be up for grabs, just as if the champion decides to quit MMA or the UFC whilst reigning. I honestly don't think this is the right way, for my sense of justice it should go to the challenger in that case. They both signed up to do a job and one failed to qualify for doing the job, the other succeeded. And disqualification hands over the title as we learned. But like that we at least get a fight.

This is why MMA and Boxing need to implement, Same Day Weigh-in on Fight Night. Cutting weight is no joke and unhealthy. I would prefer seeing fighters at there true natural competition weight, not an over inflated fighter that's not true to his weight class. Then fighter can cut no more than 2-3% of there body weight through dehydration when weighing-in on the same day as the fight. At this level of dehydration, with the correct rehydration strategy you can realistically be back to full weight (and optimum hydration) within 4-hours - before you climb in the Cage or Ring.

Charles setting records left and right. Still a champ in life.

Praying this gives Charles a higher sense of hunger to win, and that it may not limit him in the fight. Expecting a crazy match between these two. 🙏

I honestly just assumed that he would make weight to begin with so I stopped watching weigh-ins before he stepped up. I was then watching the weigh-in show like 2 hours later and was wondering why they were still going and then they talked about him missing weight. I watched DC's reaction to this and it was pretty crazy. Never would have thought he would miss weight.

This is sickening and an obvious set up. They handpicked a state which has stringent norms for weight cuts. Oliviera weighed in 155 in multiple digital scales and finally he's off .5 pounds and stripped? Seems to me that they're paving a way for Oliviera to get off the wagon and Conor to come in. SICKENING. I quit watching the UFC if that's the case.
