Disagree the Rockets had the team to beat the Bulls. They had more agility and had a SF that could space the floor while the Knicks didn't. Plus the Bulls lost to the Magic because they were overmatched in the frontcourt, they weren't winning a championship that year regardless.

Charles Barkley was absolutely correct.....The Suns WERE just as good as the Bulls!! It just came down to those individual moments that would decide the series! The Suns had a tight grasp on game 6 with a 4 point lead under a minute to go and WITH THE BALL!! It was just that 3 point dagger by someone other than Michael. I truly feel that if Paxton had not made that 3 pointer, the Suns would have absolutely won game 7! But the Bulls won because of that individual moment with 3.9 seconds left in game 6.

  • @yakubamansaray4676

Top to bottom, perhaps it can even be argued that the Suns were better on paper. But what it comes down to is that the Bulls had Jordan, who at that time was playing basketball better than anybody has ever played. This was an all-time classic NBA Finals in terms of how fantastic each of these teams were, and how evenly matched they were.

  • @leonidforgang3849

No question the Suns had more talent than the Bulls that year. Jordan put up 42 a game that series he basically willed the Bulls to a 3 peat. This and the 98 Finals were two of the greatest individual performances of all-time.

Respect all opinions here, but the Suns had the ball, up by four with less than a minute to play and couldn't win the game on their home court in which the Bulls scored in the single digits in the 4th quarter until the last minute of the game.

They would've been up more than 4 w/ the services of Ceballos to spell Dumas, and if Barkley had 2 healthy elbows (his injured one was his primary one). They likely would've also won Game 2. Maybe Jordan would've come mad into Game 3, and not let the Bulls lose that one, but then not have had the 55pt game in the fourth game. These were all 50/50 games. But I think a healthy Suns team would've pushed it to 7, as at least 1 of the 3 50/50 games that they lost they would've won on just the overal difference.

I'm not sure that if the Suns had Cedric Ceballos, that the Bulls would've been able to score enough pts to beat them? Usually when Dumas would be out of the game, Ceballos would be in. Everybody had to play a little bit more minutes, and get a little more tired, to make up for the loss of the league's highest field goal %age shooter. And when Dumas had an off game like in Game 6, Ceballos would've been Westphal's alternate as a cutting small forward. Barkley was on his way to having one of the greatest games in Finals history, till he landed on his shooting elbow in the 3rd quarter of Game 2, which they only lost by 3pts. As a result, Barkley also couldn't shoot any of his mid rainge turnarounds from outside the paint, or face up jumpers the rest of that series. Still, the games were so close, despite Jordan averaging a Finals record, w/ the somewhat depleted Suns winning 2. Their defense was decent, just not great. I certainly don't think the Bulls thought that the Suns couldn't beat them, even if they don't admit to being scared of them. They won, but I don't think this series was a mismatch. John Paxson needed to be clutch. But I don't think that the refs were unfair in favor of the Bulls, unlike w/ the Knicks' series in this timeframe, or the Jazz' series in the later 90s. The Suns actually did get some favorable officiating throughout the 93' playoffs, but they're underrated compared to the late 90s Jazz, who simply were a good team that waited for all the Western powers to get old &/or have chemistry issues or injuries or inexperience. The 93' Suns beat more of the competition that was in their prime, or close to their prime.

Dream was better overal in 93' than 94' or 95'. They would've beaten the Sonics in Game 7 if not for some very questionable officiating. But 94' Suns took a noticeable step down from 93', yet still went the distance against a Rockets team that stayed about the same, so it's hard to tell what would've happened?
