Charlamagne Tha God Wants Democrats to Go Low In Their Messaging | The Daily Show

Charlamagne Tha God argues that Democrats need to be more direct in their messaging if they want to win. Communicate authentically and candidly with their base, like Trump does with the GOP. Luckily, politicians like Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who clapped back at MTG, and Vice President Kamala Harris can provide a compass. #DailyShow #CharlamagneThaGod #Democrats

@@MrBrock314 I’d agree with you, but that isn’t how Presidential elections work. They are decided by a few tens of thousands of people in a handful of states. So their strategy is based on that, not what you or I would like to see. And I also doubt that the American public is as united in their views on Israel/Gaza as your comment implies. Biden risks losing many if not more votes if he doesn’t continue support for Israel. That whole conflict was a geopolitical masterstroke and I would bet Putin had something to do with it. It simultaneously hurt US support for Ukraine and hurt Biden/helped Trump. Who profits? Is always the question… But yeah, keep complaining about how Biden is handling one of many issues so people forget EVERYTHING ELSE that’s at stake. Like how we got Trump instead of Hillary, leading to SCOTUS dismantling America one ruling at a time. If Trump wins there will be a conservative majority on the Supreme Court for at least 25 more years.

It's half that they want to force you to have a baby and half that they don't care if you and the baby die in the process. Abortion is about choice, but it's also healthcare at a fundamental level. The number of women with wanted pregnancies who are being forced to abandon their hopes of future children because their lack of access to healthcare is compromising their lives and their bodies is equally heartbreaking.

The education system cannot currently accommodate the pivot you're asking for. In the mean time, American democracy is struggling because people either cannot understand their own representatives, or they do not feel represented by their representatives. This is expected given the growing disparity between the education and financial status of our lawmakers compared to the average citizen, and it needs to be addressed for the health of our country. In order to communicate to the people that we need more and effective school funding to raise the bar for American communication, though, we need to be able to communicate to the people, period. Those clips he showed of democrats speaking sounded like they were badly done ai phone messages. You can't win an argument while stuttering and tripping over sophistry. It's more important to be clear than sound educated in politics. A clear message "Yes we can" is more important than a fancy sounding message "together, through our joint efforts, it may be possible, to extricate ourselves from our current predicament". See in most other countries free speech isn't protected, freedom of the press is to be sure, but in order to circumvent the protection of hate speech, we mostly use "protection from persecution." In that was free speech is guaranteed provided you don't maginalise an individual group. There are additional clauses that protect satire and it's written in favour of protecting minorities and disenfranchised groups. Basically its a bit longer, maybe, but it means you're able to stomp out hate groups or at least thats what we used to do...

do not prefer or appreciate all the profanity. Not all “real people” speak that way.

That's true but it's a minority view to abstain from profanity entirely. Most things in moderation.

Never in my life would I expect a Representative to drop a Boondocks reference. I love her, shes my favorite Representative.

Yes I remember hearing about the B4 quote. It's now become a cultural phenomenon and people are making songs about it. That shows you that going low sometimes does pay off

I agree. It's one thing to want to be humble and kind. It's another thing to let people walk all over you. The people in congress need to fight back and stand up for the people the represent.

Not on the main policies. Trump is very clear what he'd do on immigration for example. He's also very clear what he'd do to Hillary or Obama if he could.

I liked Crockett like 6 months ago. I don’t remember what show she was on, but she came off as extremely honest and real… the MTG thing was just funny. Don’t live in Texas, but I hope the voters there keep her around. She’s a breath of fresh air in a stuffy room. Raskin also has his moments. My rep is hot garbage, but of course he’s not going anywhere.

I agree they need to speak in the vernacular of their demographics who need to hear the message but they still need to make sure that they alert the higher IQ constituents about their moves
