Thanks for watching Ted!
I added felt gaskets to the lid and ash pan and now it sticks the temp setting perfectly. It even now works with the suggested top vent position

Thanks for watching! Do in addition to the one that’s already on it?

@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Yes in addition to the factory one , i just added to the bottom bowl and made sure the lid gasket sits on top of the added one. The same for the ash pan

Same here.
Excellent and helpful video!! I put a piece of tape across the vent to block some air flow but I like the idea of just closing the vent when up to temp.

Can you add a thermometer to the auto kamado like you did with the gravity grill

Heck Yeah 😋 Nice Job 💥 I'm making stuffed. bratwurst peppers and cheese in some beer and some cheese burgers on the ninja woodfire. I just want a little bit of smoke. Can I fill the hopper only 25 % of the way? Thanks Tom!

Great minds think alike, made smoked 1/2 pound short rib burgers on the SmokeFire today. I seared them on the SnS kettle though because I wanted to try a Fire Cup chimney starter. Those looked fantastic Tom, the auto kamado did a great job.

That auto kamado is for real, Tom. Those burgers were too. The Fire and Smoke Black Garlic seasoning would be good on them too!

My problem with the Auto Kamado is it heats up super slow, takes forever to get it up to 600 degrees.
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ

Thanks for Watching William! How long is forever for you? Mine is like 15 minute’s

@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ It takes like an hour to heat up, I use a charcoal chimney starter to get the coals going, the fan just seems to be super weak to me.

Hmmm the vent over the fan is open? Correct?

Hi Tom, great video. Question for you. I want to pull the trigger on a gravity charcoal grill. Which one would you recommend Masterbuilt or char griller. Thanks
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ

Thanks for watching Eddie! They both perform well. I give a slight edge to the Chargriller

I own the Masterbuilt 560 and it's pretty good/fun but quality does not seem to be as good as the Chargriller. But it does seem that both of these units go through a lot of charcoal especially compared to this Auto Kamado which is the most efficient Kamado I've every used (I have the large and extra large BGE too).

@@AndreLederer I ended up buying the auto Kamado I think I will like the efficiency
When I look at the concept, and when I consider my Spider Venom on a kettle, I’m guessing that the “door” is there for when you want to just use the kamado as a kamado. Spider venom works well with almost no air slipping in from below and the top vents wide open. I think you want to limit passive air supply when running the fan. Just my .02¢

That is one amazing little grill!!!! When you raised temp to 650 did you keep the fan door closed?
