this is one of the best guides out there. my keyboard did not really wanna cooperate with all this though, but after trial and error and some guidance from the vid, i can now at least charge shield/sword and do saed. no iceborne though so, no savage axe for me :(

So i played through all of iceborn with CB idk 2 years ago then I did it in rise. I saw a speedrun where the axe mode was spinning and doing multiple hits. IT TOOK ME 2+YEARS TO LEARN SAVAGE AXE EXISTED. Got me to do another run with the ice mod using a sav axe build. Used this vid to learn how to go onto it lol thx.

This guide is really nice, I am playing mh rise with the charge blade and wanted to play mh world since rise has become a little repetitive but, I was afraid of the transition of CB from one game to another, so I am grateful for this guide and that dosen't use control input because is annoying to make the keyning change in my head

I'm getting back into the game with the wilds announcement and on pc this time, so I'm trying a new weapon. This guide is very helpful.

Started as an LS main. Now play through HBG and SwitchAxe. Thought switchaxe was hard, god i couldnt be more wrong. THERE IS CHARGEBLADE

Important note here: CB weapons with Elem Phial don't need ARTILLERY, SHARPNESS, CRIT and ATCK it doesn't affect the dmg of phials. The opposite goes with Impact Phial CB

having a mouse with the adittional 2 buttons on the side is usefull for this game cause it automatically saves the shield bind to one of the buttons

I use a Razer Naga with the interchangeable thumb buttons. I usually play with the full 12 button thumb plate, but was swapping to 2 button for mhw. Something about it just didn't feel natural to me. But binding guard to control and keeping my 12 button thumb plate really made the difference the two buttons behind the mouse wheel become useful for the multi button inputs like light and heavy attack to spam out an saed. The other button I placed as the light, heavy, and guard button; mashing this button charges my shield when I have phials.

I discovered that the shield blocks attacks when it's forward by accident, and it saved me from a cart.

I just restarted Rise on PC and will most likely get Sunbreak since I just hit HR7. But I skipped Iceborne and seeing these videos I kinda wanna go back and play it at some point. World was just so much more detailed and beautiful because it wasn't limited by the Switch. Decisions decisions.

You will not regret it. World will always be my favourite MH game - the sheer beauty of that game was amazing. MH6 is gonna be wild if they are going for next gen and PC release.

i know this is outdated but i didnt see the move when you shield and you can instantly go into savage axe mode or did i miss it?

Help! I can't seem to go into savage axe mode. I already spam C (aim slinger) when cancelling the SAED. Any tips?

I know its a neach use case but Guard Up skill is 1 Lv2 gem and makes unblockable attacks blockable, great for things like Rajangs beam attack.

i don't know if im doing something wrong here but i can't switch to the savage axe mode im clicking the slinger button on the wind up of the saed but it just doesn't work

Dont know if this been said, but to charge the sword, you shield need to be charged, you dont need any phials loaded. Not that it matters that much but might be usefull to know

Really good pointer! Most of the time you have charge but in the off case, this definitely is good to know :)

Does anyone know how to do a AED on keyboard? I know you can do it without having the shield charged but what if you do have it charged. Is there a different input to do when you want to do a AED and not a SAED?

I don't know the pc controls but I think it should be "move backwards" and "weak attack" so I think S + left click

Hello, may I know what the name of the charge blade on the thumbnail?

Welp my controls are different thanks game had to be frustrating as hell just to get started now i have to fix the controls too...

I've heard that Savage Axe works well for elemental CB builds, so I'm trying to figure out how to put together a good one. Mostly, I'm trying to decided whether or not to put Artillery on it or not since I've heard some people say that the multi-hit from Savage Axe doesn't benefit enough from Artillery to warrant it's use, while others are saying it's mandatory, and others say that Artillery doesn't effect Savage Axe damage. Which is them is right?

If you're going savage axe, ya the artillery benefit isn't the best - you're better off maxing crit, weakness exploit, and crit boost. Artillery affects your phials, so for regular phial damage, its great as a burst damage, but with SA, you don't use as much phial damage and half your damage is really melee damage, so max crit, agitator, and attack is more important that artillery.

How come you have your hotkey- ctrl as the shield button? Did you customize it? Or it's the default?

I'm not sure what a caveman style is xD But for SAED, My impact build in the video is pretty good for it. For SAED, you really want max artillery, attack, and agitator

What the "S" key means on a controller? I'm on pc but for that game, I am not playing with mouse an keyboard

Hi I am new to the game. I have love charged blade but I have a few issue. First, I am unable to go into savage axe mode. You said hit button V during the click, does it mean the V button on keyboard? What is the V button? 2nd there is guard stance with wirebug, I managed to activate it once awhile but most of the time I failed when pressing the same button. Does it need any special condition to active? Lastly what does CRTL means which button? I am playing MH rise on PC version. Just release a few days ago. I am not sure how to claim the DLC as well as. I bought the deluxe edition.

This video is for a previous Monster Hunter game. This is Monster Hunter World and yes my guide is for Mouse and keyboard so V and CTRL are keyboard controls. I haven't finished my tutorial for Rise since it just released on PC. Savage Axe in Monster Hunter Rise is different.

whats the "V" button for default?

Ahh damn I'm having a real hard time with the whole guard point thing. I can never seen to time it well. And going into savage axe and charging my shield takes time that I feel makes me vulnerable. Do I only do it when the monster is down, or is it about time and practice? I'm already MR 110 and had a still had a hard time with a high rank Teostra >__

Its a super complex weapon !! Shield charging is absolutely crucial so finding time to get that done super important! Guard point is definitely tricky and takes quite a bit of practice. If you want, I could help you out? We could make some time to jump into the training room and go over it! Over on Discord, I'm hap[y to help whenever I have time! Don't give up though! It's super complex and definitely one of the hardest weapons in the game - I felt the same when I started but with a bunch of practice (and countless carts) you can get the hang of it!

@@SkySenseiVB I'm not In the Discord anymore but thanks for the offer ^^ if I rejoin I'll take you up on it! I'm slowly getting the hang of it! I'm kinda in a thing, like start right off by filling the phials and charging the shield, then refilling phials and waiting for openings to go into savage axe. Thankfully, transition to savage axe is MUCH easier than I anticipated. My main issue is just finding the openings to charge shield/phials and dealing sufficient damage since I can't attack in axe mode without getting hit if the monster isn't downed. The mobility is just really bad and I get hit waaaay to much. IG really did spoil me In terms of mobility :') but the damage issue really comes into play since I plan on using it to beat Alatreon.. according to a friend, it is most sufficient for breaking the horns and reaching it when it's flying. I assumed it's all just a matter of a lot of time and patience but it's hard when you get whacked in the face by Teostra's angry wife 5 times in a row cause you suck so much :')

@@blackwillow482 Awwww anytime!! If there's another way, let me know. Happy to try to help out. You got thisss!! But yea for CB, its less about the weapon skills and more about the monster. IG spoils you for that, but CB and most of the slower weapons like GS as well require you to really understand the Monster movements and patterns! You find your openings after you do some big hits or get a stun or knock. If you're just learning CB though, I'd recommend against Luna LOL Super tough monster to learn against haha. Teo is good, although flame dmg hurts. Diablos and Nergi are great options. Nergi has big attack movements so you can also practice anticipating and timing Guard Point on him!

@@SkySenseiVB I was thinking about tempered Nergi, I enjoy fighting him and I've done it so much his moveset is drilled into my mind. So that probably isn't a bad idea. Lunastra however is going to be pain...and her little bootleg escaton judgement too. Seems like the fast monsters are the best to practice on? Or the ones with large attacks since it's easier to anticipate guard point. Makes sense, gotta learn hard to play hard. Thanks so much for the help though, you definitely helped a ton! Thank you for the video, it is very good, but it is not clear to me how long and how to charge the shield (I guess you did not spend any word about it in the video). I know how to charge the phials, I know how to charge the shield, but I do not get the shield pulsing pink...how do I get the shield pulsing in pink color?

The shield pulses pink when you charge the shield. Visually, not all skins do this. But in the top left corner, the shield should pulse pink if you are properly charging your shield.

Go to the training area and the last combo on the screen says “Transitioning to power axe mode” try practicing from there

I'm fairly sure it's in the base game. Make sure your phials are charged otherwise it won't activated. Also you do need to time the activation right when your blade is behind your head. Its a pretty small window. You don't need your shield to be charged - but it does higher damage if your shield is charged.

Diablos CB is great to start off with! High raw dmg - It helps if you have affinity jewels :) In base game Luna is also nice. As you move on, brachy and raging Brachy CB are really good end game blades ^_^

Its definitely a tough thing to time. You gotta aim for when your axe pulls back behind your head. I'll have to double check, but yeah it should be the slinger aim button..

Hey! Its the Black Lightening Eagle charge blade :) Its a MR weapon and to unlock it you have to complete the Event Quest "Every Hunter's Dream III". Should be a MR 2 star event quest.

This weapon is not a sword and shield. Its the charge blade. Entirely different weapon! Check the smithy to build it :)

Kinda yes. You have to do the animation at the right time. He shows you the 7 animations you can start at the exact time the monster attacks you. You only have to do one, but any of them will do GP. If you initiate the animations at the right time, guard point will be successful.

As mentioned, yes you do have to initiate one of the 7 different animations. All depends on the situation you are in. Sword to axe morph is the easiest one with the biggest window. You just need to start these as you are being attacked and GP should activate. You can confirm it by hearing a nice ping sound and your shield will glow when you block.

first of all, thank you for your guide about CB sensei. i just bought mhw 1 week ago and im enjoying playing it. second, i still struggling about the savage axe mode. i already press the slinger button but it still enter the shield charge even after i already enter the charge. please help me sensei...😭😭😭

Haven't seen so much fake infos of a cb guide in a while. 1. The way you charge your philes is super inefficient 2. Why do you refill your red philes when your philes are already filled, it's just lost time 3. Focus doesn't increase the duration of your charges, it just makes your philes charge faster/with less hits 4. In savage axe mode one phile lasts for 15 seconds not 30 seconds 5. In the end I shouldn't forget to mention that I am not a speedrunner with god tier jewels and I'm not hating on this video because most of it was pretty well explained especially for beginners.

Ctrl for me is set to "Guard/Weapon Special Action / Fire Claw" Check your keyboard settings to make sure this is it. Which parts specifically is Ctrl not working for you?

@@SkySenseiVB It's not that it doesn't work, it just doesn't do anything when I click ctrl, no action at all. Anyway, I already watched another guide of thegameconomist and as he was using an Xbox controller I used my xbox controller too and saw the actions, then I checked what each one means and I figured out everything, basically I have other buttons on my mouse, the one that are on the side, one of them meant the ctrl for me. Im looking for hours how to do the guard point on the saed on pc even watching you do it i cant do it. I dont understand. My v botton does nothing... what is sopppst to be? I cant find it on controls. Im really sad about this. I cant use that ability... its making kinda sad about it

Apologies for the late reply. I''ve been sick for a few days and haven't been able to respond to comments. So Guard Point is not really a state, but moreso a transition - its crucial to know it occurs while you are going through certain steps. So from sword to axe, guard point is the moment your sword sheaths in your shield, the second the shield moves its over - so you may be clicking the right buttons, but the timing could be off. Can you point out to me which guard point you are trying to practice here? There isn't specifically a GP during your SAED, its with your charging of your shield, so you may be timing it wrong. Also we need to check your key binds - V wasn't something I mentioned in my settings for guard point - what do you have set to V? If you would like some help, I'm happy to jump into the game and help you out. Let me know or join the discord and I can make some time to go through it with you :)

Heyooo! Thank you for the reply! Sorry so late to answer. Aperently i dont have my commets notifications on. My problem is certain moves that i cannot acomplish. The one were you going in for the ultimate the (biggest damage dealer one) but instead you canceal? Or transition it into a defense point. That and i see the axe spinning around i dont recall ever see mine doing that 🤔
