Charge Blade Guide for MHWIB

Ойындар

A detailed guide video for the Charge Blade in MHW Iceborne.
As usual with all my guides, this video aims to be a complete guide, covering all the basics like a basic tutorial, but also providing all the necessary knowledge to play this weapon somewhat decently.
Since I am not a CB main, I do not claim to know the best stuff for this weapon, and this guide will not be as in-depth and advance as you expect. I am aware that for an old game like MHW there are plenty of guides from experts out there already, but I enjoy teaching and wanted to challenge myself to make this video with my own style of teaching weapons. I chose this weapon since many people claim to not understand it.
Needless to say it took a lot of time and effort to make this & I hope it will help you guys as much as my Hunting Horn Guide • Hunting Horn In-Depth ... did, and hopefully does not confuse you guys LOL.
As usual, ⏱timestamps will help you navigate my long ass guides:
⏱Time Stamps:
Intro 0:00
C1 P1 2 Modes Differences 0:47
C1 P2 Switching Modes 2:52
C1 P3 Draw Attacks 3:28
C2 P1 Phial System 4:01

C3 P5 Slinger Burst 28:59
C4 Savage Axe Slash 29:51
C5 Guard Points 33:25
C6 Combat Summary 36:15
Jumping Attack Corrections:
1) if you use forward slash(LMB+RMB in sword mode) against some walls you will automatically run up and perform a sword jumping slash(you can use CTRL to change to axe jumping too).
2) LMB after sword jumping slash gives spinning slash.
3) RMB after axe jumping slash gives ED2.
Thanks to all my friends who supported me while I was making this, whether its to join for multiplayer clips, give feedback, double check facts or just accompanying me while I work on this.

Hi people, here are some JUMPING ATTACK tips I forgot to include in this guide: 1) if you use forward slash(LMB+RMB in sword mode) against some walls you will automatically run up and perform a sword jumping slash(you can use CTRL to change to axe jumping too). 2) LMB after sword jumping slash gives spinning slash. 3) RMB after axe jumping slash gives ED2. I genuinely forgot to add these moves because jumping attacks are rarely used for this weapon, these moves are not important enough for me to re-upload a new video, but I figured I will still let you guys know here. I apologize for the mistakes. Another thing, some have asked why I didn't include sliding slash reposition clips. While I already mentioned in the guide "sliding slash can often be used purely for positioning" this statement includes offensive/defensive positioning, so yes you can use the it to move closer, further, avoid attacks etc, which all falls under positioning. But I apologize for not including more clips for more examples, or making my statement clearer. If you have anymore feedback feel free to comment, thanks everyone!

you done a great great job of showing how to use a charge blade with such an easy to understand way that beginners can try to learn. it would be cooler if you make a list of combos of each mode that you feel important and useful at the end of the video so beginners like me feel less overwhelmed with too much mechanics for just a weapon like this. I mean like combos that players mostly use so we can learn the basics combo of the weapon before we try to explore other alternate/more advanced combos

As a CB main myself, who also plays on mouse and keyboard, I have to say this is a bloody good guide video. Yes it doesn't cover all the playstyle nuances completely and doesn't get too much into build/skill info but from a purely informational standpoint on what charge blade does mechanics-wise, it is very comprehensive. There's a few other things I would've mentioned like being able to slightly angle (S)AED's and that savage axe increases axe hit motion values so it's a good idea to go into savage axe for wakeup hits as it's free to do since the monster's sleeping, plus some others I forgot over the course of watching the video. Aside from that though, this was well done. And THANK YOU for mentioning that you should wait for the backstep before continuing the savage axe combo in multiplayer. It's not a damage loss if you're letting other people who are also doing damage continue to do so.

@@vinsmokedaniel1899 While your shield is behind you in the animation for an SAED, you can cancel it into an AED by holding the movement key opposite to the direction your hunter is facing and left-clicking. Alternatively if you're using control type 2 you just need to hold 's' and left click. Assuming you didn't rebind LMB to something else. He goes over this in the video at 14:50 and I think there's an older comment talking about the control types and AED cancelling too.

The AI voiceover is a tad monotonous, which makes it a bit hard to maintain attention on a stretch. However, the information is exhaustive and comprehensive; easily the best CB video guide online right now. Even as a CB main, I learned a couple things. Great job. Protip for things the upswing is actually good for: launched teammates can utilize the airtime for aerial mounting damage and/or a method to reach otherwise inaccessible/hard-to-reach areas on a monster. If you coordinate properly, you can basically act as a catapult for your teammates; especially effective with hammer and greatsword teammates, thanks to their powerful aerial charge attacks. Works best with a Switch Axe however, as its upswing is faster, but CB's works in a pinch.

When learning a new monster also charge your sword since morph slash is the most accessible guard point, there's a ton of guard points in the standard sword rotation for accidental guards, you have access to the shield if you get scared and overall sword attacks are less committal allowing you to more easily watch a monster for openings. Holding guard will also show you where the exact hit for an attack is so you can learn more precisely where guard points are.

Charge Blade SAED was the whole reason why I loved MHW. Guard Point was too difficult to pull off and quite honestly for me was 99% luck. But SAED, damn. So fun.

As a newbie that have Monster Hunter in his library for years but never really played the game because I get overwhelmed about how hard it is to understand and master a weapon, I say: thanks! Your guide is the first in years that truly makes me comfortable with the idea of just playing the game. I've watched this video a few times now while in the training room and I think I'm ready to try to face a monster for the first time after the tutorial.

@@torpedosoup I do think I'll like it. I use to play Dauntless, which is inspired by Monster Hunter. It's just that MHW seems a lot more massive and hard hahaha I'll update here once I do my first mission.

I'm gonna fully admit, I'm a Greatsword, and Dual Blades main, and I decided this next play through to only do Charge Blade. And, I was absolutely not impressed with it. Just, three button combo, over, and over, and over... Turns out I was literally just playing the Charge Blade in it's most super basic form this guide caused me to dive into an ocean of complexity with the Charge Blade, and now I am excited to keep playing. Buff juggling, and attack positions for maximum damage plus elemental, and impact phials. What a crazy weapon!

What is that armor you use with the fire element? -The color red one with the black cape, looks sick. Great guide btw. Thanks to you I was able to use the CB in a (somewhat) competent manner; All I need is practice. 👍
