Character Animator: Drawing & Rigging Mikey! | FREELANCING EP2

Фильм және анимация

I've had a few requests on creating a basic character for Adobe Character Animator completely from scratch. So, here's my Quick version of Michelangelo, drawn from scratch in Photoshop and then rigged in Adobe Character Animator!
What do you want me to cover next?

    Hi dude, first of all, thanks for the tutorial. I need your help with one subject which I didn't found a solution. When my arms move, they are bending from the elbow point which I selected. But, the elbows aren't moving like real elbow as yours. Because in your puppet, your lower arm following the elbow and your arm is not bending too much. I mean your lower arm is passing through on the upper arm. How can I do that?

    This deserves 100x more views-great video! Just curious about something; do you think Character Animator is ideal for 2d animated shorts, or would you say making them frame-by-frame on something like Adobe Animate would be better for that purpose? I know Character Animator is great for tutorials and explainer videos and maybe some episodes too, but what are your thoughts?

  • @ChrisOVEMERY

    @ChrisOVEMERY

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey man! First of all thanks a lot! Regarding your question it depends a little on what type of animated short you want to do. More often than not though, I use both depending on the scene. Generally Ch for the dialogue parts an animate or toonboom for action sequences & stuff. I break it down in my video "Is this made in Character Animator" dropped a few weeks ago

I did not understand how to select the arm, then add the bones then tag it. I thought if you tag it that was enough. I knew there was a flow but my brain just didn't get it. I have so many stories to tell and could not get my puppets correct. First, I was having problems with the eyes moving in the head, then I would get disconnected from my link doing changes. I wished people would do like you, don't assume I know how to do something because you rushed and did not show each detail. I am going to finish my puppets this week and post. theres not one answer to that question.. you could make background art in photoshop and animations in animate for example. You could do it all in photoshop or animate too,

    @@JustSmile949 Animation is a long journey and I cant say theres a specific software to learn first above any else. Get used to a program with a timeline. I personally started with After Effects. But really, start wit after effects, Animate, photoshop timeline or anything like that. Play around with using art with a timeline. Eventually you will gravitate towards your goal

    Why do you separate the upper and lower arm into 2 different layers?

  • @ChrisOVEMERY

    @ChrisOVEMERY

    2 жыл бұрын

    hmm, I often do that in rigging in general in different software because it decrease the distortion of the bending arm. I am not 100% sure this applies in Ch though. Just a "rigging thing in general"

  • @ChrisOVEMERY

    @ChrisOVEMERY

    Hey! + sign in a Ps-layer indicates its an independent object in Ch. If you want to you can skip the + and instead make it independent in Ch in rig mode and marking the crown symbol next to the layer.

I personally dont keyframe in Character Animator at all, and probably wont, until that day they will ad keyframe possibilities for stuff like draggers (arms etc)
