Character Animation for Beginners: Learning the Basics

In this tutorial on acting, we will explore the integration of all the knowledge we have gained from the previous three videos. We will create a setup in Blender that allows us to incorporate audio into our scene. Next, we will outline the key moments and actions in the acting performance. We will then add more detailed movements and refine them. Finally, we will animate the eyes and mouth to add the finishing touches to the acting performance. This tutorial is suitable for all skill levels, but it is specifically designed for beginners. If you follow along and would like to share your own animation, I would be delighted to see it!

@@alexonstory Thank you Alex. I will. It is a small encouragement for all the work you do. Most people would give snippets of information then point you to their paid course and that's one way of doing it. The fact that you do 1h of clear instructions and put it here for free is really appreciated. My suggestion when you get time is to think about a similar 4 course series with a humanoid rig. Also use a youtube Poll to gauge if the majority of subscribers do agree. Cheers.

I'll make a video in a bit on the graph editor. It's sounds like your getting gimbaling issues. Easiest thing to do is use another control to rotate on the Y axis. If you have another free control that'll help you out. Another thing you can try is keying your turns in smaller increments. And when you get to the problem frames you can key it over a hand full of frames. If your in Blender having your rotation set to XYZ Euler often helps. Hope that helps!

I watched a number of other youtube videos and mashed together a bunch of ideas. The mouth is an image plane with the bone/control as the driver. Eyes are geometry with a boolean modifier. The geo is wrapped around the sphere and follows the squash and stretch of the rig. I'd have to dive back into the rig to remember specifics but that's the general steps.
