Char Griller Gravity Fed 980 Unboxing & Assembly

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Welcome back to Andersons Smoke Show! Today we are going to unbox and assemble my new Char-Griller Gravity 980! This Gravity 980 is an absolute tank, come check it out!
Now I want to start out by saying that Char Griller sent me this Char Griller Gravity 980 to review, but I want to ensure you that you are getting an honest review....and nothing but that.
Don't start your cook off with a dirty grill or smoker! Get yourself a GOOD bristle-free grill brush like the ones sold by Grillaholics: www.grillaholics.com/?ref=AND... (Be sure to use coupon code SMOKESHOW to save 20%)
Now I have been an owner of the Masterbuilt Gravity Series 560 for over a year now and have done dozens of cooks on it and in all honesty I love it. It makes great food, give a great taste, and is pretty simple... There are a few things that I wish were different... and that's where the NEW Char Griller Gravity fed 980 comes into play!
This is an all new gravity smoker from Char-Griller and they have some nice upgrades that I think I am going to really like. This charcoal smoker is HUGE and I love the extra space. Now I will have a first impressions and burn off video for this grill, so for now lets get it unboxed and assembled!
Thanks again for watching Andersons SmokeShow! Be sure to subscribe and I'll see you next time!

Thanks for showing how to but it together it probably saved me a hour of frustration. I finished in just about 2 hours too. Plus a few breaks and some cursing when I knocked the open package of bolts and washers off the table. A tip for everyone… unpack everything before you start. I mean everything. Get a couple of tables and lay everything out. It makes it a lot easier. I couldn’t find the axle for 15 minutes only to see it was packaged with the lid handle.

Char Grill heats evenly whereas Masterbuilt doesn't and will burn food next to the box. The only thing better on the MB is the cast iron grates which sear the food and the ability to add a rotisserie later. Both apps are about the same.

Excellent video! I have a question. Step 12 requires a silicone gasket. No part number is listed in the diagram. No part number is listed in the parts list. But the part is shown as a separate entity on the diagram on page 12. I have no such gasket. I could not find it in my packaging. Everything has been opened and taken out but no gasket. I texted support and they said it supposed to be pretty-attached to the damper cover. I checked and nothing there or the barrel. Was yours preattached? Great video on assembly of this grill. Unfortunately mine didn't go as smoothly. The fan housing does not fit into the side of the hopper. I've been in contact with customer service multiple time without any resolution. I have a 250 pound paperweight. I've sent emails/pictures/measurements as requested and still nothing. Without being able to determine if the fan housing or hopper is out of spec, seems replacing both would be the solution. Another week passes without being able to use, what I hope to be, a great grill.

It looks like it has an internal metal sleeve for the hopper they have aftermarket mods for Masterbuilt due to the hopper having some of the inner metal bubbling some. I didnt know beforehand about the mods or to purchase a high temp spray to heat treat the inside of hopper. They have brands that range from 700°-1200° like stove bright, krylon, or overhead cam spray all range from $8-$14. I always luv your videos my brotha👍🏾

Thanks man! Yeah on the masterbuilt they put a thin metal that they claim is there to keep the fire brick in place during transportation... but they intend for them to burn away over time.... not sure how much I buy that, but that’s what they’ve told everyone. The mods are nice but are pricey too
