sad thing is. if you wanted to save even more time and go straight to his house, he dont even spawn in until you do the whole quest. so.. honestly i may just for giggles go talk to the mayor of twilight town 1st to see what happens. since the pipe room makes it so fast. the time loss risk wont be more then a min or 2.

You can't do that in the original ttyd so I 100% doubt you can do it in the remake.

You can't see him at his last location because the point is that we're running around searching for him while he's running around searching for us because he got a fortune mentioning someone in a red cap. We don't find him until he's tired of searching.

In the original game, you didn’t talk to the mayor in Twilight Town to figure out where General White was, you had to talk to some random person, so im at least glad that was changed

It took me like 4 minutes, it’s not that much

just started playing since i got the game last night getting use to the Battle system again (NGL its getting kinda hard to pull off Stylish moves right off the back ) but what hurts me during Chapter 1 was Seeing General White just in his spot like the OG game but the new Face Expression and how he pulls his hat over his eyes makes me wanna give him a hug so bad after coming back to talk to him over and over again im now on to Chapter 2

Love how they fix these older game problems. Rpg the final area was annoying but the remake fixed it same with ttyd

This was perhaps Thousand Year Door's most infamous part, so it's nice that certain processes have been streamlined now.

And some people are really saying they’d rather have the original cause of the frame rate.

I’d rather have the original because it doesn’t make you do the pit of 100 trials twice for 100% completion and because the inability to speed up dialogue is more troublesome than the chapters 4 and 7 backtracking

Does anyone know of they added a shortcut pipe from the Palace of Shadow, back to Rougeport Sewers? It was a pain in the ass in both 64 and TTYD to backtrack through both Bowser's Castle and Palace of Shadow, back to Toad Town and Rougeport. I assume if they did, it would be right outside from where the Riddle Tower is, and the Shadow Sirens and Doopless battle takes place.

They added a pipe at the end of the palace (right before where the Shadow Queen fight takes place) back to the start of the palace right next to the Thousand Year Door (Im pretty sure it only appears if you die to the Shadow Queen and go to the last save)

So much better now that he even appears during the final battle cutscene, rather than just having the explosive squad and the raccoon killer

Honestly, I always found this part more amusing than anything in the original. It's a little tedious yeah, but I just kinda saw it as a silly way to revisit all the areas you've been to along the way. It's definitely not as bad as chapter 4, where you're going back and forth on the same, narrow pathway filled with the most annoying enemies possible

I kinda wish you could also have a fast travel pipe from Fahr Outpost BEFORE you beat Chapter 7. Cause once you head to the moon, you sure was heck are not likely to go back to Fahr Outpost again.

I would say it's a little better, not much better. It still requires backtracking. I've always hated how he is always around when you don't need him, but the two times you do, you've got to go all over God's creation to find him.

Would it be possible to do a trouble board guide?

I remember commenting about that pipe room in the trailer and how they fix the complaint of the chp so now people will stop comparing this game to sticker star and got an ton of negative comments. I don't get how this chp compare to all of sticker star mandatory secrets, needing specific stickers and more

Man I tell ya the original was so frustrating I tell ya going worlds was madness but with them pipes wayyyyyy much easier in the remake I say THANK YOUUUUUUU!!!!!!

So i was just using an recipe guide from the original ttyd and turns out the new game has 1 additional dish. A guide for this new recipe may be in order, i honestly have no idea what it is though.

Yes, backtracking him in that big underground warp room makes searching for him less annoying than originally; LESS!

I didn’t bother to buy this remake since I only ever played and finished bother paper mario 64 and TTYD for the first time last summer but I’m glad I suffered through the OG games than to play this one for the first time. Idk there’s something about playing the original version of the game, and struggling through very tedious, annoying sections that feel more nostalgic years later

Oddly enough I feel the same way! Older games can be dense and confusing but I would much rather have a frustrating challenge than something be too easy. The Palace of Shadow being SO LONG AND MASSIVE honestly makes it one of my favorite final levels/areas in a videogame.

Oh I remember this chapter how even the guide was useless.

I don't remember the hunt for General White being that bad as a kid. I remember having to do it, but I don't remember absolutely hating it. I remember spending more time in the snow town confused on what to do next, haha. Then again maybe my absence of memory means I've repressed how bad it was, haha.

Might be a different strokes for different folks scenario. I don't mind most of the backtracking in TTYD (even some I'd seen others complain about) and had been largely enjoying myself up until this quest. I hated the backtracking of this quest in particular so much that it soured my opinion on the entire game.
