Everybody says to put a Mark of Nurgle on Chosen when running them, but there's actually a much more powerful combination available. It involves the very much underrated Exalted Champion. Fully equip your Chosen to your liking and have them lead by the Exalted Champion. He grants them Dark Champion, while they grant him Chosen Marauders. This allows them all to advance, shoot, and charge. But it also gives them +1 To Hit, not specifying just melee. You can choose to run them with combi-weapons, as they now hit on a 3+, still getting anti-infantry 4+ and Devastating Wounds on top of _that._ Or you can have Bolters running at 2+ instead. Remember that the Exalted Champion has a combi-weapon too and benefits from it. In melee, they all now hit on 2+. With a Mark of Khorne, they get Lethal Hits on 5+ with the Dark Pact. On top of that, if you give the Exalted Champion a Talisman of Burning Blood, he gets D3 extra attacks and strength. He then _also gets a further D3 strength for any phase he uses a Dark Pact, a potential +6 strength in melee (but only up to +3 in shooting, due to Talisman[...] specifying "Fight Phase"), minimum strength 7 and average of 8.5. As for how to get them there, well they all fit snugly in a Rhino. And the _Rhino_ is what gets the Mark of Nurgle, freeing them up for more of their potential. All that, for just 385 points, and just 365 points without the Talisman. And that's without Profane Zeal thrown into the mix. Bonus - A lot of people run a Chaos Lord with the Mark of Chaos Undivided. That's fine, but _do not_ run him with the Liber Hereticus. It negates his Devastating Wounds as Lethal Hits skip the To Wound step, and the Liber switches it on automatically.

Exploding 5+ on Havocs with lascannon is just awesome! That's actually always around 4-5 hits and 3-4 wounds. Medium-sized vehicles are simply blown off the field by them. And even against heavy vehicles, they usually cause considerable damage.

Yeah man Havocs are the real deal! I've seen a fair amount of folks lean towards Undivided which makes sense but the spike potential is just so incredibly high with Nurgle / I've had too many great experiences with them that it's the route I'll always go hah. I've had multiple times where my 4 LC shots turn into 6-7 which is just wild for 135pt

Ive run a 4x Reaper cannon with Tzeetch + warpsmith. WS holds the eye and farms extra CP and 36 shots auto wounding on a 5+ can force a silly amount of saves from the opponent, then let probability take the wheel! But Laz cannons probably still best. Just fun. Also defilers down in points now! Whoop! I run a nurgle one, the mark does nothing apart from dark obscurity. Rapid ingress him at 12”, cover him in nurgles love. Next turn charge a knight off the field…. With Claaaaaamps ^_^

Yup, as times gone on I've realized Changeling is just like, amazing. Like you say he's a great tech piece that'll shore up your scoring + that ability is super fun

I played CSM in 9th but that was when I was in the USA now that I moved to Thailand I to get some games in here, I enjoyed the list building you put up in your video, they help me a lot, Thanks you for taking the time out to make CSM video

Just found this vid through recommanded and I wanna say it's an excellent review! Loved the analysis on allies to pair with main csm army. I also wanna congrats you for not skipping over the hellbrute total bullshit of overpowered aura or the heretic guards sniper riffle. So many big reviewers didn't even look at the weapons I feel like. Sure having noone needed on an objo is fun with cultist, but I run two squads of guard and noone like their characters getting shot by a cheap back row objo controller squad. As for the hellbrute, i've been running a 2000 army with fair success in local club, one part termi brick + all the infantry, secong half with huge reserve deathstar. I bring 4 obli, hellbrute, 5havocs and venomcrawler on the table side where the ennemy's elite/heavy stands. The amount of shot that come out of this blob with double pact on 5+ is insane. Spider always shoot last and ramp up so fast, been reaching 9shot on the guns on my first game

Yeah dude, a lot of people are completely underestimating how damn powerful CSM shooting is right now - Like you said those Dark Pacts crank it up hardcore, I've totally tabled some players just from shooting hah - mix in the Helbrute or Abaddon etc etc & you have something special. Great to see another believer is out there tho. I like covering some of the units people might skip over too, so appreciate the feedback man

Found your channel when I was looking for wise advice of Chaos Daemons and as someone who owns half of Wrath of the Soul Forge King, the CSM Combat Patrol along with the Legionaries Kill Team then went and bought a Forgefiend and the Dark Commune, this video is going to really help me out when I want to get serious with a 2k list. As it now stands, sure I can do a 2k list but it prolly won't be very synergistic. Poor Vashtorr.

I've had a couple viewers mention having good luck with Vashtorr actually! His huge issue is being overcosted hah, but otherwise he had a really solid statline & the +1S can come in clutch vs Knights or similar. FYI it sounds like you're off to am excellent start for your collection!! Tbh you might look into Venomcrawlers on Ebay for cheap (or better yet Venomcrawlers *and* Oblits!). Appreciate the feedback either way, feel free to reach out with any questions or the sort!

@@GamingGuardians for Oblits a full squad of 4 will MULCH some units so I'd consider them (even just 2 ain't bad). For Venomcrawlers, I like have ~1-2 to finish off squads or protect objectives - Oblits are competitive, VCs you could skip tho :P

Hey hey, similar here - probably half the reason my voice is how it is hah (that & doing call center jobs forever when I was younger, oof). I started doing 'takes' so there's some breaks but I never considered a warmup. I do indeed plan to cover the FAQ's, actually have some vids in the works right now on just that topic!

Left out the ol' Drake! I feel like it's a unit my opinion has changed of as I use it. It does a surprising amount of damage, and until they FAQ Overwatch from combat for vehicles it can be very annoying. It's also a very versatile scoring unit in Hover, it surprises in practical. Don't sleep on the Pred Destructors when you get to Sons. The -1 AP against infantry on ranged weapons makes even the Havoc launcher sting a little, but when those HBs hit AP3 for Infernos, oof.

It's funny you mention Heldrakes, originally I was going to include them actually lol. Their speed / flamer / near guaranteed T1 charge / BEING ABLE TO PICK OFF LONE OPs / etc does bring a boatload of value. But in the end, 205pt can bring *a lot* of good stuff so I decided against it :( Maybe I still should've included him tho hah. For World Eaters he'll probably be on there, I think he's esp good with them. Good call on the Preds for Tsons as well! I wouldn't be surprised if the 'best units' ends up just being their entire index though :P

Hmm... I thought a Terminator Combi-Weapon bomb would be a thing, but no mention of it at all. Am I missing something? Awesome video though. 😊

If I had a time machine I'd have mentioned it lol, totally spaced that combo. Though if I'm being upfront 400pt for I think like it's only ~7MWs or so isn't the greatest rate ever - rather rely on Forgefiends for the MW output personally! But I might be off on that haha. Termies are fantastic but I'm not sold on big bricks of them atm, but that's a playstyle thing I really value board control & all that jazz (which admittedly they can still help with!)

@@fatarchon I think it can get to like 11-12 if You go Nurgle, fish for 5+ on hit rolls and use the strat for rerolling 1s to wound. But yeah, 400 pts might be a lot. How about Minigun Havocs? I think if buffed up properly, they can dish out quite a lot of shots. 😊 It can get quite expensive, but bear with me... Abaddon rerolls, fishing for 5+ (Nurgle) while standing near a Hellbrute and shooting a target marked by a Termi Sorc for - 1 AP. 😵 The only thing missing is ignore cover and what hurts is a short range. But the idea of a swarm of minigun bullets really tickles my fancy. 😂

I'm not done with the video yet, but what i'm gonna do with Havocs is link them with a warpsmith and mark them all tzeentch with lascannons so every time they shoot with lethal hits at big shit I can gain a cp with the eye of tzeentch on my warpsmith, meanwhile they can hang out with the forgefriends in the back as well.

Whoa! That's actually pretty smart! I've been looking for ways to run the Eye of Tzeentch & that's a smart way to do it w/out throwing away your Mark. I dig it! Funnily enough one of my lists has a Warpsmith... Maybe I gotta attach him to the Havocs ;)

@fatarchon I've been trying to squeeze in a helbrute but I've opted for Cypher and the changeling for some lone op shenanigans. Also running some raptors and haarken for fast objective takers. If I can find a good way to squeeze in the brute I will tho!

just got a LoC and a Hellbrute in order, was thinking of adding 1 huntmans pack (2 units, brigans not for sale and I like these guys more actually with their melee profile being so insane and anti vehicle/monster) 2 havoc squads to be able to fill eachothers shortcomings (equipment, so 4x lascannons and 4x autocannons with their champions getting something else like a flamer for overwatch?)

Those are *all* excellent units, def good picks to build off of. For the War Dogs, 100% you should magnetize them (very easy tbh) that way you could still run one as a Brigand, or any other version + as time goes on & you get more you can swap loadouts. As for champion maybe just do plasma

@@fatarchon idk how to magnetize yet as I got into it only about less than a month ago but idm not having it magnetised rn. Mostly rule of cool and good loadouts rn. Im making a csm army with allies to then branch into daemon and chaos knights for cheaper ;). I do have vashtorr for fun cause of the box I bought (sold the dark angels for 70 so only paid 75 for the vashtor, cultists, venomcrawler and obliterators) and a daemon prince with wings from his box which has a helldrake (rule of cool but dont think hes good for the pts), 10x possessed and a terminator squad + forgefriend. Wish they made vashtor a bit better (more wounds, buffs to any astartes units instead of just daemon engines) but oh well That plus the ones in my prev comment would be my army so far. And potentially abby, another term squad, term lord/sorc term lord and a 2nd forgefriend. That would be my entire army so far and I can mix and match units to fight different opponents as its a bunch of pts so far. Any recommendations? Love the vids btw man ur super fun to watch eventho its such a longformat video it holds my attention well :)!

@CAEeQuilibium when I get home I'll try to snap some pics of how I magnetized mine, granted 1000% it's YOUR army so do it exactly like YOU want :) If you ever do decide to change loadouts on any model, a quick tip is to toss the model in the freezer for a bit - so long as you use super glue (and *not* plastic glue) they'll come apart very easily hah. Just a random tip! As for the units you have, no lie that's am exceptional start & hits most of the good kits we have. Def get Abaddon eventually (just the model alone is sick), eventually more Forgefiends for sure. Beyond that maybe look into Accursed Cultists - oh yeah Master of Possessions for sure! Hah Excellent start either way, I think you're going to be very happy with how they run

I just finished painting my raptors (forgot to mention :P) and I put so mcuh effort into it I love it. Its my fav part defo. MoP is an issue, out of stock everywhere! can't get him at all as he was only available in the boxset and nowhere else and its not for sale anymore. Thanks man can't wait! shits super fun and I just love making them come to life :)!

He's actually really good for his cost! Fights First & making Noise Marines battleline are all great, wish you could attach him to Chosen is all. I considered adding him in but he's juuuust under the line for 'top tier', at least imho! But yeah very usable & points efficient

Is there any reason to take autocannon havocs over an autocannon predator? Predator gets that xtra ap, faqd to have the rapidfire 2, and still has sponsons

Hmmm, versus Predator probably not. Though they are easier to hide and have the Infantry keyword so there's a few advantages still. Usually when you see them it's because if you buy x2 kits of Havocs you'll end up with 4LC & 4AC so unless you kitbash or get more kits etc, and you bring 2 squads, one will be AC usually. But yeah good point on preds vs havocs!

Not sure what GW was thinking, they're so vanilla + overcosted when you look at other profiles. Who in their right mind would take them when Chosen are just 15pt more!! I'll have to check it out, AoW is a great channel as it is

I think Plasma Pistol + Power Fist is probably the most optimal loadout, I'd rather hit on 2's with the PF than gamble on the Dev Wounds with the hammer. Try not to forget you can give yourself +1 A/S/AP/D once per game too, dude turns into a mini-blender for a turn. All that said, he's mainly there for the free strategem so it's not the end of the world if you just use a Bolt Pistol + Chainsword either

Im just getting into warhammer. Watched more stuff for a long time but just starting to like the models and game. I want to start painting an army of chaos marines but I have this weird thing in my head where I wanna do a custom color scheme. Essentially creating my own. I feel weird putting naked characters into that tho. Do I need to get over this to have a viable army or can I work with the more “generic” units.

Using your own colors schemes / lore is perfectly normal! I don't think I've ever used a "standard" color scheme myself actually hah. But yeah, when it comes to models go wild - a lot of people even 3d print or convert their own kits, so long as the sizes are about right nobody minds

Sorry it took so long to reply but 100% you can use your own color scheme. My CSM use a custom scheme in fact! Characters too, you can always kitbash your own - so long as the base size & model size are similar it can be something completely custom!

GW said we'll be getting 8(!!) detachments to work with too. Legionaries are one of the better Battleline troops out there now that they're only 80pts so I hope you can get some good use out of them
