As a physical anthropologist I can agree, when in doubt "it has ritual significance"
What I really love about this channel is that the quality is constant in every single video. No filler, no bs, only beast builds. The fortress is beautiful, love the banners
I could see this as being an iron warriors chaos stronghold being assaulted by the imperial fists chapter. It would it would make for an awesome photo shoot!!
Those "improvised material" banners are... fitting for the Night Lords I guess. Very homey. You just need to write "Live Laugh Love" and then it's much more welcoming 😆

Hahaha live laugh love in latin would probably sound like cool words for a homebrew legion

Now I want to see "Live, laugh, love" scrawled in blood on the build 😂

This is one of my favourite ways to make terrain -- spend a lot of time crafting high detail, small, reusable components, and then mould and recast over and over. Especially for manufactured terrain, this reflects what the original makers would have done anyway, reusing mass produced components wherever possible. This looks great!

I know this comment is a little old, but you have a very nice profile picture. Looks like old school Fire Emblem.

@@YOOT_JJ Thanks! It kind of is old school Fire Emblem. I made a program to make custom Fire Emblem portraits for my D&D players using the old GBA assets.
THOSE DETAILS OMG
This Legend is like the Bob Ross of Terrain. not only is he dope a.f. you can tell hes just pretty fuckin chill.

Agreed. If you dig this style, also check out Terrainaholic from Canada. Eric’s awesome!
"Material about the size of a torso, and stitched tohether haphazardly..." Clearly you are referring to poor-quality winter jackets. Another great build, sir!
I love your general aesthetic to so many of these projects. There is something about them that reminds me so much of the scrappy look to 90's-00's terrain. You can see the vestiges of what they are made out of, but they are still so fun and evocative.

Couldn’t put my finger on it, but “scrappy” is absolutely right! “How to Make Wargames Terrain” vibes right here.
Another home run build Eric! The gate was amazing, between that and your monster bash entry I've been super impressed by your sculpting ability! Keep up the great work

So many tiny details. Well done!

Thanks Knarb!!
Battle scars! Explosions! Bullet holes! Breaches! The improvised banners are very cool. Could have highlighted the fact that they come from different ... donors ... by using slightly off base colors on some sections before applying wash ;)
I drank every time you said crenellation and now I'm in the hospital with alcohol poisoning. Thanks Eric....JK, great work dude.
That tip for making hexagonal shapes with foam board is brilliant!
Music: _bright and cheerful piccolo and mandolin_ Eric: _describing in gruesome detail all the horrible things the Night Lords do to their prisoners_
i think i know why the chain broke: Blackmagiccraft did a video yesterday, where he dripped superglue onto superwatery pva glue. it gave nice 3d-shapes, like craters. I suspect that you spraying water onto superglue had the same expanding effect, and it broke one chainlink.
Oh great, now I’m gonna buy an Iron Warriors army just to make this so my imperial fists can lay siege to it

Sounds like a sweet plan
12:40 Yes yes yes please. I'd love to see how you made all the additional parts!
"What's this made out of anyway?" I don't know, I got it from Conrad Kurze's weirdos. Let me ask.. "WAIT. Never ask the Night Lords anything. They're so fucking weird."
This putty seems to be exactly what I am looking for to get into making molds and trying my hands at it
The gate came out amazing!

Thanks Nathan, im really happy woth that part too
Everything in the video was impressive but that gate is ASTOUNDING. Fantastic video, super detailed and helpful tips!
Great job with all the extra details. If the Iron Warriors had raised this fortress they would have put murder holes in the floor of the battlements overhanging the gate.
Holy shit, that sculpted door is unreal. You're a terrain god!
The lighting through the gate at the beginning is a 💯😙👌. Love it!
The soft improvisational jazz playing while you talk about hanging the "IMPROVISED MATERIAL BANNER" really got me laughing.
u should be designing toys or smth like that... that door is too motu! amazing as always!
these turned out great! the hand sculpted gates are crazy cool, definitely worth putting the extra time into a big centerpiece like that, and the banners and other hanging details really took it to the next level. excited to see the next part of this series!
I love how the big bad setting of 40k for the imperium is also simultaneously the underdog, because humanities last hope that is weak and on the brink of death is also just curb stomping everyone
This is so much work. It's cool to see someone who takes that much care for his build. I like that old school cardboard build. And those gates are amazing.
that gate - damn! always super impressed by your sculpting skills, great job as always!
Awesome build Eric, love that sculpted door and the improvised banners!
Awesome looking fortress, would be great for the Iron Warriors with the whole metallic colours, heavy walls and the iron/bronze gate, even with the fleshbanners fitting the lore as slavemasters. Nice!
Oh, I am SO stealing 'it has ritual significance' as an excuse for absolutely everything.

Archeologists people have been doing it since ages now, We do not know what it might be for? Ritual use! no joke there is a definitely-not-a-penis carved from marble in a museum with the amazing name of ritualistic item.

@@EricsHobbyWorkshop So, you guys watch Time Team too? But honestly, from an anthropological point of view, the ritual explanation is far more plausible as most people are aware. We are using rituals so much in every day live, that we just don't recognise them as such. Just what would you call board games?

It's the Chaos Space Marines, so it might even be true.
That is one made-with-love detailed project. The effect of those tiny skulls with the chains on the crenellations blew me away. AWESOME build!
Genius! I am so impressed with your skills. Gosh you can sculpt! Keep up the great work.
I can’t believe you only have 70k subscribers, you knock it out of the park compared to some “model makers” you deserve a wider audience my friend. Keep pushing quality always wins out.
Hobby goals. Serious terrainaholic vibes. Great work, brilliant idea!
The details give it such a menacing look! Love this build :)

I enjoyed the improvised banner bit. Gonna look up how to sculpt/mold/cast because that seems handy.
Your sculpting on that gate is amazing!
The fortress has a classic Chaos look. Love it! I especially love the door.
Awesome build mate, really cool🤘🤘.. the details, incredible 🤘
it is so intimidating! that huge deamon faced door really sells the piece, but even just the structure is so massive, spiky and chainy...embodiement of chaos indeed!
Wow, such a clever choice for the crennellations and other detailing really sells this piece. Awesome job.

Thanks Johnny, The crenellations design is the part im most proud of i think
Crazy timing on this! I also ordered a hot wire cutter and am planning to make a modular wall + gatehouse for my Warhammer Roleplay campaign. I found that while I can craft a lot of smaller projects, like houses and gallows and furniture and whatever, but when it comes to big architectural pieces, my hobby knife skills are just not up to snuff and the larger the piece is the more the warped cuts and stuff become mountains out of molehills and everything looks real skewed. Excited to get my hot wire table and looking forward to seeing what you make next
Great video Eric. I fabricate almost everything I make. The molding you use looks real cool. Your methods and materials worked out great. You just proved that you can teach a old dog [ me ] new tricks. Thanks
Oh yeah, man! Eric, your builds continue to be amazing and I'm so looking at using some these techniques on my next terrain build
That door looks amazing, great work! Looking forward to seeing all the stuff you cut for time. According to the owner of my local game store, I think the Citadel skull box is GW's bestselling product.
Your instructions are very clear I'm going to have to give this a go. Thanks!
Love that the pointed outcropping over the door looks like a crown! Perhaps some chaotic gems in the crenellations to enhance this?
I love the creativity. I can't wait to try this stuff, you are very talented bro. Big fan of your work.
Wow ! Realy amazing . Continu your great work budy .
Fourth time viewing this video before I go out tomorrow and get the pink foam insulation and foamboard and start giving m and Nick's Chaos Space Marines their new home. How about some Dark Eldar theme's to give me some idea's for my own section of Webway tunnel of Cammorragh I'm making in a shipping container. It'll literally have structures a full 360* with a black sun star at it's heart in the first 8"x10"x20" section and an entire death match arena and "under-spire, Homunculus coven's torture chamber and lab setup in the other half of the container(not counting the walkways for gameplay). Currently, a Chaos Space Marine 4"x8" setup sounds perfect for the loft section of the barn that we have our weekend 40k sessions in. Again, great YT channel Eric, Many MANY great idea's, tips and techniques learned here on Eric's Hobby Workshop! Thank you for taking the time you do to produce this material.
Absolutely sick! Excellent build, well done!
You make me want to stop working hard to buy my terrain and really work hard to build it!!! Thank you for the motivation!
Really cool gate! It really takes it to the next level
Chains and dakka, the two things we can't have enough of. Also spikey bitz.
That skullface gate is epic. Congrats!
So excited for the stairs and bridges.
That door came out fabulous! As always, thanks for sharing your content, Eric!

That gate is perfection!
As someone that use to build all my terrain i really like your work.
Love this technique for the gate sooo cool!!!!
I bought the same Putty, and same thing WRONG directions! lol, Googled it, and made my own molds for my home made Barrels. It works pretty good!! I like this stuff for small molds, have not used it for bigger just yet. I let mine air dry, 6/8 hrs it was perfecto!! Love THIS BUILD LOOKS BAD A$$!!! Nice one again Eric!! I saved it!! There's nothing wrong with those instructions. It's just that you and Eric don't know what "volume" means.
I like the skin banners and the Gate! Reminds me of the book of the Necronomicon from Evil Dead!!!

Awesome build my guy! Very impressive
Dude! You are seriously talented!!
Awesome chaos build! Wow!
I got a really good chuckle out of "ritual significance", mate. Great build!
That gate is next level!
This is an amazing build to work with, but I really wonder how much more could you add to this wall to really make it feel like a true Chaos fortification? Maybe some chaos stars? Maybe something for summoning deamons? Maybe a loyalist or two hung from the walls? Maybe something for that Chaos Lord to over look his realm/conquest? Hella good stuff, excited to see more from you!

Super cool, Eric! I really want to get some of that silicone putty!
I love that door, but the whole things just awesome 😮
Good job mate, really nice
Good job on the project. The chipboard cut to the size you want for the walls might have been easier than using the puddy. Banner was neat. I use platicard and heat it up then bending it the way I want.
Modular castle? Empire build? Or bretonnian? Maybe with a modular shaven dungeon???
the door is erik...ahhh...epic! This is a very cool project again, thank you 4 beeing so cool and crafting! keep on doing it, enjoy and we’ll do it too:)
I have to try it and make a thousand son's fortress as a gift for my oldest 40k partner! Many thanks for the tips!! ;)

That gate is ridiculously cool.
Fantastic job good sir. Looking gooood!
That fortress turn out great!
cool stuff. It's so hard to make structures like this with that amount of shapes just constantly moving throughout. Well done.
how to CSM: 1. Aquire thing 2. put spikes
