CHANNEL ISLANDS National Park Camping, Kayaking and Hiking | Santa Cruz Island travel guide

Channel Islands National Park is one of the most unique parks in the system. It requires some planning, and a boat ride to get there, but it's natural beauty is spectacular. The park consists of 5 islands off the coast of Southern California and we spent 2 days camping, hiking, kayaking and exploring Santa Cruz Island, the largest of the 5.
On day 1 we set up camp, explored the Scorpion Ranch Visitor Center, got to know the numerous Island Foxes (a dwarf fox the size of a very small dog) and hiked to Cavern Point and Potato Harbor.
On Day 2, we explored several of the island's many sea caves on a guided kayak tour.
On the boat ride over we saw several dolphins and, on the way back we experienced a rare treat, 3 Blue Whales, the largest animal on the planet! The boat stopped and we were able to watch the whales for some time.
What a memorable experience in this amazing National Park!
