CHANIA, CRETE GR Food Tour! - My favorite places to eat after living in Chania for 1 month!

Trying Cretan food and showing you some of my favorite spots.
MONOGRAM ROASTER COFFEE SHOP - g.co/kgs/yDQs7z
You can find high quality coffee and modern brewing techniques along with traditional delights like Greek Coffee (Elliniko).
KORMORANOS BAKERY CAFE - g.co/kgs/GRx7m6
In the streets of Old Town, you can find a delightful meal of classic Cretan dishes from breakfast through dinner.
BOUGATSA CHANIA - g.co/kgs/Ek1mfg
The most iconic pastry in Crete is made in the most expert fashion here. A perfect intersection of tradition and ingredients of the highest quality.
MITRAKI KAITI BAKERY- g.co/kgs/zU6KzN
Get here early for the best picks of the day at this traditional dough laboratory. 9am we were told, is the best time to drop by. Closed on Sundays
TERRA CRETA - g.co/kgs/FHm9W3
Just a 25 minute drive outside of the Old Town is the largest olive oil producer on Crete. They offer a tasting tour for 10€ before harvest season begins. Check the website for more details. I highly recommend this experience.
ANCIENT OLIVE TREE OF VOUVES - maps.app.goo.gl/R4G2JLLmMPSGq...
Site of one of the oldest olive oil trees in the world, and still produces olives.
AVLAKI GORGE TRAIL - maps.app.goo.gl/Yjz23dpfQyV2h...
One of the shorter gorge hikes (2.6 mi) so it's great for a half day of hiking. It takes you along a monastery and hidden cave. At the end you'll be rewarded with the stunning Katholiko Bay. Bring a bathing suit!
CHARMA BREWERY - g.co/kgs/s3aGUe
Beer produced in the mountains of Chania. I highly recommend the Dunkel and having lunch here.
KOUKOUVAYA - g.co/kgs/P5w1Ac
Arguably the best view of Chania. At this restaurant you'll find yourself among locals with an extensive dessert menu. They are most known for their "Zoumero" Chocolate Cake. I had the Igloo Custard. There's really no wrong choice here. They also offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner plates.
TO XANI RESTAURANT - g.co/kgs/QyffjS
Nestled among hanging grape vines in the Jewish Quarter of Old Town. This place has an extensive menu of traditional Cretan dishes that you must not leave Crete without trying. Note: they have live music in the evenings, you will surely enjoy. The dishes I had from my two visits were: Cretan Salad, Grilled Pork Steak, Tarama Spread, and the Lamb Kleftiko.
TAVERNA ELIÀ - g.co/kgs/gouu5w
This restaurant is well worth leaving the Old Town for. Located in the Galatás neighborhood, this was our weekly go-to and ULTIMATE favorite restaurant during our month stay. From beginning to end you feel at home in this casual, yet romantic atmosphere. The chefs are producing perfectly prepared dishes using ingredients picked that morning. You will be sitting under a centuries old olive tree and you be accompanied by cats playing among the bushes. This is really a place where they cook the way the locals like. The dishes I had during our visits: Gigante White Bean Stew, Cretan Salad, Moussaka, Bacaliaros, Skordalia, Stuffed Zucchini Flowers, Pork Steak, Small Fried White Fish.
Open only for dinner.
RED JANE - maps.app.goo.gl/96UH1QLNLRybG...
Housed in a refurbished 1930s manufacturing plant, Red Jane is an extraordinary bakery. This place is truly a gem in Chania, and well worth a visit for perfectly crafted baked goods and carefully curated coffee.

I am from Greece, and i also thought that our food is the best in the world, and one day i visited Spain, and then went to Asian countries like China, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and you know what, i do not consider Greek food to be the best any more, maybe in the top 10, but other countries like the ones i mentioned take food more seriously, we cannot compete with these food giants!

Greece is not only renowned for being a food giant flavour wise but health wise in terms of cuisine also!. Each to their own but Greek food culture is unbeatable!!!! And is also recognised in top 2 alongside Italian cuisine!!!!!🇬🇷

I used to go to Chania and the surrounding area all the time as a kid, last time I went was over 15 years ago. I'd love to go back one day. There's something a little unique about the flavour of the food in Crete which sets it apart from food in other parts of Greece.

Greece has the number 1 best food in the world. Italy 2nd sry but its true. As a Greek i have traveled ALOT and trust me i rly dont care or say it cause im Greek or grew up with this food but HONESTLY 90% of other stuff i try elsewhere seem blunt or tasteless unless its Italy which is rly good as well but a bit overrated and i put it 2nd. I didnt even know spinach turns brown.. hahaha Also Mediterranean cousin is the number 1 healthiest diet
