Ғылым және технология
Hey guys! My name is Serghei and on this channel I share videos about how to fix cars by yourself. In this video I'm going to share step by step how to change the timing chain on Toyota Tundra V8 5.7. It seems a bit hard but I tried to show all important moments of this repair process. If you have some questions just write down below and I will try to do all my best and answer you. This video is like a tutorial about changing the timing chain on Toyota Tundra. Enjoy watching!

One of the best timing chain replacement videos I've seen. Thank you.
You are great at explaining all the steps very throughly, I appreciate your expertise... thanks for making a difficult job seem much easier
Great video. I’m in the process of researching this job for my tundra and your video was a great help. Thanks!
Serghei EXCELLENT VIDEO! Thank you very much for sharing. You explain very well what you are doing. It is a time consuming job as I can see. I have a 2010 Toyota Tundra, I use the Mobil 1 motor oil. I did the timing belt on my 2001 Toyota Tundra 4.7 engine about 10 years ago. I have replaced many timing chains and gears on the 1960's Pontiac engines. I replaced the timing chain on my older Brothers 1953 Buick Roadmaster this past march. Brother is 83 years old now soon to be 84. Brother taught me a lot of what I know. I have always been intrigued and fascinated with timing chains and engines on how they work. THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH
Serghei I am looking to buy a Toyota Tundra and you have shown how well put together they are. Great information. I've subscribed and will watch more of your videos... Спасибо и удачи вам.
Serghei - thank you for this incredibly helpful video and your excellent, clear descriptions. I had a problem with a leaking cam housing on the passenger side of my 2011 SR5 and, in lieu of a $2700+tax dealer estimate, attempted to fix it use a shortcut published in another video. That video was fine but I misunderstood what was involved with the tensioners and messed it up. Using your video, I was able to take the timing chain cover off and get both cam housings sealed as well as recover from my mess-up. I haven't worked on an engine in over 20 years and I don't think I could have done it without your video. Thanks again!

Great video. One old trick to keep the chain on the sprockets, put a zip tie around where it wont come off the teeth. Once its in place, cut the zip tie.
Very good video and procedural explanation of work. Huge thumbs up!
Well done!! Thanks for this video. My chains and tensioners need to be replaced, and now I have the confidence to do it myself!!
Awesome video. You covered all the key points. This was really helpful.
I did the same Job on A 5VZ FE v 6 that took me all weekend. it looks likes Childs play compared to the 5.7 Great Video!
Thank you VERY MUCH for making this amazing content. Now I can finally do my own. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Amazing!! Thank you. I admire your patience
I don't even own a Tundra, but enjoyed watching 👍🏼
Thank you for this video! Really saved my butt on my 2008 3UR Sequoia. I’m swapping all the same parts this weekend on mine, nearly ready to take the covers all off. Honestly the most annoying part of this whole thing is the wiring harnesses. They did not make it easy to work on with regard to those.
Very very good job my friend from Fresno California,USA
Great tutorial! So I'm going to buy Toyota and go to Tundra :))
Great video well detail step by step wonderful job!!!!

Excellent content. Thank you for sharing
Excellent work my friend Brilliant video 📹 👏 👌 👍
Good Job Brother!!! Really educational video
Thank you for your insightful instruction
Thank you so much for this video!!
I usually use Royal Purple assembly Lube on the chains and guides and gears. Its very sticky and will not drip if used right for the jobs. But nice to see you lube the chain with oil before closing up. I see WAY to many techs and people start then dry and that will cause wear that is not wanted on first fire up.
Awesome man! Better than turbomaniac!!😀👍
Great video! You do great work especially recording the procedure for us. I'm subscribed. I didn't see how you set the timing before you removed the valve covers. Did you just move the crank. What did you look at to know its lined up?
Great video my friend 👍 thank you!
This was an excellent video
Great job, thank you so much!!
Thank you, this was a great video
Excellent video that either convinced me I can do this or perhaps I should pay someone else to do it. 😊
That was great! Thank you!

Really nice work
Great job sir..
Good job brother.
That is a pretty involved job. Good job Sergei. I hope my Tundra does not need this work until 400 000 kms or more.

Well done!!!
Great job
Wow that's a lot of work. I heard it's a common issue with Toyota 8 cylinder engine for the timing chain cover to leak.
Сергей привет, лайк!
Good job
Toyota uses the best chains in the bussiness. Either that has over 300thousand miles or oil changes were not done enough
thaks bro new information
Good Video
Exelente me gusta nada roto y golpes hese es un mecánico de verdad
Do you have a parts list brother? -im wondering if the cam phasers and phaser chains are the same part numbers, or are they the same on both sides or...?
hi is there a gasket for the right hand side primary tensioner like on the lh side? im having a hard time remerbering thank you
I think bare rims on the front of the truck and then Lowering it would help a lot of folks!!!
Great Vid Do you have the description of how many tourque which bolt gets?
Great video. what about replace the head gasket? do you have a video replacing the head gasket?
Thanks for the video Serghei I have the timing chain slapping on drivers side, started only at cold starts but it is more prominent now, I thought I could get away with just changing the tensioners, what parts kit did you use
How much more involved would it be to remove the front of the truck to have better access?
So I had to do the head gasket on my truck (2014tundra 5.7l 3UR-FE)and I’m putting it back together now but after I get all my marks lined up and everything in time, when I manually turn my engine (28 times) my small chains don’t match back up but my big chains do. What am I doing wrong?
Сергей привет, давно тебя не было, когда новые видео будут на твоём канале турбоманьк?
Good fix man toyota should have build the 4L tacoma like that, thats why the taco is so weak!
When i start removing the chains do i need all the colored links lined up or can i just put cam marks up ?
Приает , скажи ценник за замену грм на тундре . Когда косу подкапотную отстегиваешь , что бы немешплась и неполамались провода на капот вверх стяжками стягивай .
Thank you for sharing this video. So far it is the best tutorial I have found in doing this job. However, I am having a hard time getting the wiring fully disconnected from the lower sides of the engine to push it out of the way of the valve covers. Do you have any suggestions for that?

I used WD-40 on the connectors and some hose pliers (they look like needle nose pliers, but the ends are rounded to go around hoses) to disconnect the plugs. You can use a large size (about the diameter of a quarter. They pinch the plugs little tabs and allow you to release the plugs. I successfully disconnected all required plugs and didn't break any! Good luck!

Hey Sergey, Thank you for this video. Helped me to change my timing chains and tensioners. I have a question for the oil pump: do I need to do some priming with oil before I start the engine with new pump? Thank you!

Thank you! I starred it , runing very good still smoking from exhaust headers. Hope it is not leaking from valve covers
where did u get parts?everythings on back order.waiting over 6months for mine to get fixed.mech said sprockets hv to be expensive toyota brand($850/piece).is that true?
How many miles did you have on your tundra before timing change??? I have 2008 with 180k miles on it still running good.
2:12 I thought you will notice that main radiator is leaking under the coolant tank before reinstall it but seems like you haven't replaced it.
What’s the brand name of that complete kit??
What is the part number for the oil pump pickup seal? I’m having a hard time finding it.
Do u know wat is the torque spec on the crank pulley bolt?
Next time try to unscrew crankshaft bolt by using starter. Just put head on the bolt and extension on the left side of the frame then click starter once. One guy tough me this tip on subaru's engine.
love our videos. I have a question . Recently Ive been offered a, 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD - SR5 _ with the 5.7L 8-Cylinder Gas Engine . Miles are under 80 thousand . Its absolutely imaculate. The only thing is its 2WD and not the 4WD , but I prefer the 2WD since it hasnt snowed where I live in 8 years. I can get the truck for under $20 thousand. I would love your advice. I really like this Toyota engine and its a crew cab. Thx Buddy. fyi, when do you need to change a timing chain on this engine ??
Do you happen to have a list or links of all parts needed to do this job?
where i can buy the all set
👍

the effort and cost of replacing versus the risk and cost of failure or misdiagnosis is pretty clear, it is worth the small pain to replace prematurely than to do it 1 day too late
There are a lot of really smart Russian mechanics on KZread.
❤
Jeeez hard to believe that has 200k on it. Just broke open mine for head gaskets, and I always thought I took good care of it. 263k miles and it’s looks stained with coffee😳. Diiiiiiirty! 😬
Hi Serghei, What year and model is the Tundra? Where did you get the timing chain replacement kit from? Great Video.

I have a 2013 cm 3ur-fbe & just did this with a Melling timing chain kit from rock auto which had the exact same procedure (1K later its still running better then ever with no knocking at all)
Great video man. It really helps people understand why it's such a big bill to do the master timing kit on these trucks. Don't you think 200k is stretching it a little bit though

I'm about to tackle mine. I have issue with chain tensioner. Since I'm there I may replace the whole timing. Can you let me know where did you order the kit? By the way awesome job.

I just bought a complete kit from RockAuto. They have all the individual parts or a complete kit with 4 chains, 4 tensioners and 4 slides. I got a Melling brand kit. Seems fine. They have several brands available. Best price for sure. I also picked up a new radiator, oil pump kit, water pump, etc. I figure replace everything at once and hopefully I won't have to do it again.
Where do you order your kit a special tools
What parts or kit are you using?

I have a 2014 with 265,000 miles on it have never messed with the timing chain, but get it serviced at Toyota on a very regular basis and they said it’s in great shape
Before you go through the effort of doing this try to put marvel mystery oil in your truck. Just got rid of my rattle. The oil gets gummed up and causes the tensioner to stick in many cases when it is otherwise functional and without defect.
Heelow sir gay gret totorial budy
Привет Серый! Все четко! 200т. движок чистый!!! Какое масло пользуешь??? спасибо!
Curious how difficult it is to remove the front end of the vehicle. My car I can do it in about 20 minutes. I can let the condenser hang to the side with bungee cords. This would make the job easier in that you would not have to reach over or crawl under the front of the vehicle. You could pull up a chair and have a access to about everything.

What would be a good price Is too pay to have that done
They never stretch. It's one of the biggest, best-built chains on anything. Unless the engine overheated & ran hot for way too long, the factory paint timing marks are visible. If they're faded or gone, replace it due to uncertainty. But as a rule they just don't fail.

It's not the chain that fails on these. The tensioners can fail. My 16 sequoia with 92k has a tensioner going. Gotta replace it next year and since it requires basically taking everything off anyways, just going to do the full timing kit.
I just bought a 2008 tundra 5.7 with 195000k miles from the car action with no maintenance records The truck runs and drives as it should do you recommend me to replace the timing chain and water pump or when should I do that?

My 2010 Sequoia just rolled 200 and is running like new. Personally I’d change ALL the fluids and run them.
I’ll suggest removing fuse for fuel pump an crank for few seconds until oil pump prime tensioners them reinstall fuse them crank engine fully prime with oil just once knowledge lol
