    Thanks! I am still grinning from the second ride. Go cart clutches are super simple, they have springs on each side, and the weights move straight out, so they don't care which way it's spinning.

    Brings me back to my childhood, then again we don't really grow up. You can squeeze a couple miles an hour out of er yet then you need to put on a helmet. Awesome project. Thanks. Stevo

    @John Klem I I don't want to be one of those for sure! I am on a quiet street and still pay a LOT of attention to avoid cars. I don't want to be in the right, but under a car.

    Disconnect the low oil shutoff switch. That’s most likely what is killing it when you spin out. Good upgrade though.

  • @GuysPlayingWithTools

    You might have something there. I am pulling the motor today so I can start on the dual motor mount, but when it goes back on, I will put a light on that switch so I know if it's killing it.

    You’re going so slow because you have a small gear going to a bigger one, then a small one to bigger one. Probably has a lot of torque with the two chain set up

  • @GuysPlayingWithTools

    @GuysPlayingWithTools

    7 ай бұрын

    The 2 chain setup is a "jack gear". It let the smaller, high revving motors that were popular a few years back work petty well without much torque. That kart ended up with a nice little 212 that didn't need it(it was good for just under 50mph)

  • @sirmo667

    @sirmo667

    7 ай бұрын

    @@GuysPlayingWithTools that makes a lot of sense, but using that setup in general will cause a loss in top end speed

  • @GuysPlayingWithTools

    @GuysPlayingWithTools

    7 ай бұрын

    @sirmo667 You got it! I only use them when I am having fun with little motors, or if I have one that revs over 8000 rpm. Most untouched kart motors run at under 3k rpm so a jack gear would limit you to around 20mph with big rear tires, 15mph with smaller tires
