To open the Nib Case, place it on your table, rest your palm on the case and press firmly down as you rotate to the right. It should open super easily .

My nibs are wearing down MUCH faster than "once a month or so" and I don't even use my tablet that heavily. My nibs are completely flat and worn out after about two days of use, they are essentially unusable at that point because the angled flat surface on the tip of my pen catches on the tablet and spins in place mid-brushstroke making it impossible to make perfect brushstrokes, I'm almost out of nibs, and at $10 for a 5 pack this is just ridiculous.

Hi. For Wacom Intuos Pro, we developed significant improvements over previous generations. To improve the pen experience, we built a new pen technology and replaceable texture sheets, which influence nib wear differently than previous generations. This new pen technology provides 8k pressure levels, a lag-free drawing experience and improvements for tilt and accuracy. These improvements required us to redesign the mechanical structure of our pens and thus the shape of our pen nibs. The new pen nibs are thinner, smaller and more tipped than before. The new replaceable texture sheets offer three different friction levels to choose from and have a significantly improved impact on pen feel. The standard texture sheet included with the new Intuos Pro has 31% higher friction than previous generations. Of all combinations of nib and texture sheets tested, this is the most natural, sensitive and paper-like we have ever offered. And like a real pencil, the Pro Pen 2 nib wears down with use. faster than previous generations. To minimize workflow downtime due to nib wear, we include 10 spare nibs in the pen stand of each new Intuos Pro. We also have spare pen nib accessories available for purchase in our Wacom eStore. Product code: ACK-222-01. We recommend trying the texture sample card included with the new Intuos Pro to determine your ideal surface experience. For a more traditional surface experience with lower friction and less texture, consider using the Smooth Texture sheet, also available from the Wacom eStore. Product codes: ACK-122-211 (medium) and ACK-122-311 (large). We sincerely hope this information proves helpful and addresses your concerns. We welcome your feedback. Cheers ^BV

Well, most of your customers apparently hate the change to softer nibs. Time to rethink? I was about to drop 500$ on a new Intuos Pro, but reading the comments and reviews, I think I'll stick to using my Surface Pro 4 for working on the goo, until you get your shit together. Still loving my older Cintiq 22HD though. Maybe you should stick to what works. And please...stop talking about nibs that wear down as if it was a cool feature.

To open the lid, simply hold the base upside down (silver part on top) place a flat head screwdriver into the small hole at the side of the base, and gently pry it open by giving the lid a few gentle nudges with the screwdriver. It comes off very easily for me every time I do this.

I used for 12 years a single nib from 12WX wacom tablet. Changed recently to Wacom 16 and my nib is worn out after 3 days. It's very obvious that Wacom lowered quality of the nibs on purpose. Absolutely shocking. I am not surprised why so many switch to xp-pen...

New nibs wear down like chalk. Very frustrating to have to change nibs every few days. Plus the old nibs don`t work on the new stylus. Very crappy move to get more money from users by Wacom. Taking advantage because of lack of real competition, probably.

Jeff: "Hey Frank, how can we make our consumers buy more of our products without noticeable decline in quality? I mean people buy a Wacom and go quiet for years!" Frank: "Hmmm... Why don't we make nibs with not even a quarter of a centimeter long tip? That way they'll be buying nibs every cough* "month" cough* and we'll put the price twice as high!" Jeff: "Let's also change the plastic nib material to make it wear out even faster!" Me: "Slowly reeling out my middle finger"... Seriously, what a rip off. As a hobbyist that draws daily, my nibs wear out in matter of days not months like you advertised. They also sell for twice the price than the standard nibs for previous versions, not cool Wacom.

I've been trying to open my pen stand but I'm convinced the damned thing is glued shut. I don't have the hand strength to open this. Also it's been a pain in the ass finding nibs that are compatible with my pen. Why can't Waccom just use the same nibs for all of their devices? It's just common sense! I ended up using a knife to pry open my pen stand, but it cut my hand twice. Would recommend a different company to get your tablet.

The nibs wear down way too quickly, 2-3 days and you have to replace it. At this rate it's costing me 3 dollars every 3 days to use my pro pen 2 on the intuos pro. Most of your intuos pro users are raising the issue, we need more durable nibs. Either reduce the cost of your nibs to 50c each or you leave me with no choice but to start looking at other brands and asking for a refund. At current prices for 5 or 10 nibs its so unreasonably expensive we may as well look elsewhere for our devices. With so many concerned users, you clearly have an issue on your hands that needs addressing quickly.

Like many folks I had horrible a time figuring it out but if you can find a table top or better yet a rubbery surface, you can lightly press down while turning counter clockwise and it'll open. I first tried on my glass computer desk and no dice. It worked on a wood table, and even easier on my wife's rubber sewing measuring pad thingy. Hope that helps. Fwiw, I don't think it's a bad design, but the fact they didn't put a little first time sticker describing how to do this is pretty ridiculous.

I regret purchasing the latest intuos pro. The nibs are trash after just a day of use. Nibs on my old intuos5 would last years. Making the experience more "paper-like" (i.e. disposable) defeats a major reason for using a tablet in the first place.

Hi. Per request of our tablet users we now offer more opportunity, more choice, different nibs, more surfaces to match all the different user groups. We listened to our largest user group and made changes based on their wishes. We are sorry this does not help everyone. Also in order to receive over 8k pressure levels we had to design the nibs this way. They became shorter because more space was needed in the pen for technical part. Cheers ^BV
