Changing my $100,000 Mercedes GTS oil at home!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I recently bought this GTS and the first thing I do on all new cars is change the oil and inspect the old oil for any metal flakes.

    Glad I found you here. I'm a decent DIY tech and I really want the AMG GT. It seems like a manageable semi-exotic car. When they're a few years old, they are a bargain, and always with low miles. I just want to make sure I can do basic work like fluid changes, brake pad/rotor changes and maybe some suspension work.

    I do anything not covered under warranty. Once warranty expires, I'll normally do the work myself and just buy the parts either from Ebay, or directly from the dealership. Thanks for watching, make sure to subscribe for when I upload more stuff, I have a hit Porsche Carrera GTS im fixing up.

    Not a bad video but you made a few mistakes your suppose to warm the oil up to 100c and you have 3 minutes max to drain the oil. You should have used a fat pipe to catch all that oil rather than let it go everywhere.

    = a real amateur. Also Amsoil should have been used instead of Liqui Moly. Amsoil beats all the properties of LM. It's also recommended to clean up the spilled oil with a brake cleaner to avoid dirt contamination.

    @@TheCeki1982 Liqui Moly is better in my opinion. Also, you can use anything to clean it up as long as you clean it.

    The reason why they put the oil plug in a spot where they do is to deter DIY and utilize your service

    That’s why you don’t use a Quick jack to drain the reservoir oil. 😂

    Is the 0w40 229.5 approved? LM told me to use the purple bottle 5w40 since it’s 229.5 approved.

    Hello, But if the my car has 65,000 miles on it, can I also use 0w40? I live in Los Angeles, can I also use it for weather conditions? I don’t know why, but I think that the best option will be, but in my weather conditions and the mileage of the car, I can use this oil or not?

    So you heat the car up to let it cool down?,Also by starting the engine your throwing all the oil in the pan around the whole engine,,so now the old dirty oil you want out is up in the engine,,It will now take 24 hours for all the oil to drip back down to the pan,,,A better suggestion is,,,don't start the engine don't heat up the oil,,there is no need to,,just leave the car sit for 24 hours,,then open sump let oil out,,this way you get 100 percent of the old oil out..

  • @AnthonyTaylor

    @AnthonyTaylor

    11 ай бұрын

    That is incorrect, you want the oil warm to it flows more quickly, allowing for more debris to flow out. It does not take 24 hours for the oil to drip back down. Also, you'll never get 100% of the oil out of the engine, so it won't really matter if some is left back.
