Matt Doyle’s performance in COMPANY is one of the most hilarious performances I’ve ever seen on a Broadway stage! He NEEDS to win a Tony this year!

Probably Top 5 performances I've ever seen on Broadway. He stole the show. Both times I went, the guy got more applause than Patti. That's how good he was.

This version made me understand the attempted proposal from Bobby in a way I never did before - Bobby is asking Amy/Jamie for a marriage based on convenience instead of actual love, because Bobby doesn't understand the difference yet, but Amy/Jamie does. Adding the subtext of asking a gay man to have a convenient straight marriage made me understand that. And it's true whatever gender Amy/Jamie is played as.

Matt Doyle was awesome. I never listened to Company before. If I did, my Spotify was probably playing random songs, and I didn't notice. Shame on me. I did, however, watch that Documentary Now episode of Co-Op that has a song influenced by Getting Married Today. When Matt was singing this song, I was just enjoying every moment of it, but I could also hear Alex Brightman's character singing about blowing a rail and shitting his pants. Still an awesome experience.

Patti LuPone is a true actress, she has that absolute tabula rasa of a face, so you could paint basically any character on it. And I live her Joanne.

I'll say it until I die, we could do so much with theatre if we were more flexible with gendered casting. It would open up so many casting possibilities, and add so many nuances for certain characters with a queer or genderbent element.

with enough talent, stories can be told and characters can be played by anyone of any gender, race, or background. he said himself the script hardly changed and it shouldn't! its the same story

All due respect to Matt Doyle, but calling Not getting married the most challenging song in musical theater history is really presumptuous. What about And I’m Telling You, glitter and be gay, defying gravity…etc etc

I think lyrically it is one of the most challenging songs in MT history, And I am telling you Stamina wise, glitter and be gay vocally, and defying gravity vocally but as a belt.

Little behind the times. There's not much need to change this classic. How about writing something new that fits what is going on today? Or better yet, Amy should have been a trans woman.
