Question: Is the direction or the tenor worse? Fabiano is a very inelegant Alfredo due to the constant use, and abuse, of a forced emission: his Alfredo seeks excessively emphatic accents in an unsuccessful attempt to give a credible interpretation of the male protagonist. Fabiano, on the other hand, appears alien, right from his debut on stage, to the nobility of Verdi's singing, betting all his chips on strength, on the emphasis of the high register and on vocal thickening, concluding ingloriously but predictably with a swallowed high C, shouted and flat, if it was a C. On the other hand, the previous A was also terrible. A very overrated singer (singer?).

I was brought here by Daniel singing Shall We Dance with Maria Friedman in a Rogers and Hammerstein concert! Who would have thought Daniel will play two rulers. First as Mongkut in the King & I and then as Ozai in the new Avatar reboot?

slight correction (respectfully) to the host in his final summation, raga is not the scale. Thaat is the scale. Raag is the unique melody or signature melodic phrases, whose beauty evokes certain feelings or rasas, such as romantic love in union, romantic love in separation, heroism, wonder, playfulness, serenity and many more. Sometimes about mundane subjects, but often glorifying spiritual Divine pastimes.

Lovely...and very sentimental when the line "bless my homeland forever" is sung. As an American living abroad, I can relate to this song, as it is not an Austrian song but for all of us who are thinking about our homes no matter where they are. I know, right now, I am thinking about it more than usual and hoping I will have a homeland in a few months to think about and bless....and I vote! That's all.
