I was given a student visa at 40 years for my masters in Feb 2023 , my decision to invest so much money and time in Australian education was because there was an opportunity to work and get international work experience, that would have help professional career growth .Me and my wife have left our job and moved with our son. They are supposed to deliver on the promise that was made, it's not a favor from the government but their obligation. This move to revert to earlier age limit for master by research and PhD students omitting out the other masters student, is a blatant discrimination and strategic move to curtail the number of people who are opposing the changes.

I hope the government will include us, too, the master's by coursework aged over 35; we are devastated because we are overlooked in these new updates.. we contribute positively to the market by providing practical skills that complement the role of research graduates.

Hey both, could you share any reliable research indicating that most coursework students are not genuine? If you both are research students/graduates and you still can't provide us with the evidence, then I think we should question your genuineness! Please be nice and respectful and delete your offensive comments to thousands of graduates who are contributing to every aspect of life here (nurses, engineers,...etc) and they are coursework graduates!!

Registered nurses complete a bachelor's or master's by coursework, which saves people's lives every day? Are you saying they are non-genuine just because they completed a master's by coursework?!

We are saying that need to give some transition period for existing students, because otherwise its really unfair. Before they come to Australia, can get the decision if they already know this rules. But if they change the rules recently, so see how unfair it ?

For the Temporary Graduate visa (485) - Second Post-Study Work Stream. It says on the Department of Home Affairs' website: "This is a temporary visa. The length of your stay in Australia will depend on where you studied and graduated from and what degree you hold as the holder of a student visa and where you live as the holder of your first Temporary Graduate visa in the post-study work stream, or your Temporary Graduate visa in the replacement stream. If you: >studied and live in Category 2 area (1 year) >studied and live in Category 2 area plus hold a select degree (3 year) >studied and live in Category 3 area (2 years) >studied and live in Category 3 area plus hold a select degree (4 years)" The confusing part is that it doesn't specify the selected degrees. My question is, where can we find the list of the degrees? Thank you.

read so many comments here... everyone seems to neglect the fact that Australia government is adopting a very very tight door migration policies for new PRs application at least for the next coming 5 yrs until the housing shortage problem is solved. SO even for those students who are able to squeeze through this round (Masters by research and Phd students), and all others, please dont be happy about this! As the purpose of this little perks given here is just to shut the mouths of the coming undergrads thats all. SO work u r able to get a post study work visa, whiere after 3 to 5 yrs when u try to apply for PR but mostly are rejected due to very low quota then? if i were u, its still the same old shitty path with possiblity of getting PR is like 10 to 15%, where most of you all will be made use of by working in Australia to sustain its economy and will be kick off!

@@Shadma108I would say you need to confirm this to your school. Technically master by research falls under the graduate research school at the uni. And it requires 2 years full of research. With a major review at the end of the first year. If you havent got these, chances are you are just doing master by coursework with a research as a capstone project. (I did this for my past master degree and yep it is a coursework, not a research)
