We should be free to sleep in our vehicles - for those of us who are clean, quiet, legal. Shelters should not be an option for some of us,bc we can take care of ourselves - as long as we are allowed to live in our RVs,trucks, cars, etc. Shelters should be for families w children and battered partners.

But the real issue is wages and the rising cost of living. Instead of creating laws to make companies pay livable wages or control healthcare costs, housing cost, groceries cost etc etc. This is the issue why we can't afford anything. Until we wake up and realize that we are getting played to protect the wealthy, things will just get worse while they distract us with this funds being sent to help other countries bs. 🤷🏻

I'm a part time worker & also a part time college student, that has completed my general ed requirements just have to fulfill my major courses now. I was let go recently from my recent full time job as they unexpectedly changed my job location & schedule as well from graveyard shift to swing shift which interefered with my school scedule. & at a location twice as far away than my original job but I didnt want to drop out of school since im already ahead in the semester & I prioritize school anyways over work so I was replaced immediately & lost my job. I kind of rebounced & got another job, less paying, but even shorter hours just 24 hours weekly now rather 40 with bi weekly pay now rather than weekly. I have lived off grid in my RV now for 1 full year after paying rent for many places since my senior year of high school at the age of 17. Im nearly 34 now, have been struggling to pay rent for over a decade. Ive never done any type of drugs in my life, not even weed once. Never smoked anything at all. Ive never even drank any alcohol at all a single day of my life. I have no clue what a beer taste like. Ive never been to jail/prison, I have nothing on my record. Ive done security work for a long time which requires a perfectly clean background check. In this 1 year alone of living in my RV, even though I have never left any trash outside at all, I have always kept my RV clean & washed both inside & out, I have never used the built in generator nor caused any noise, & I have paid all my tags & kept everything up to date & clean. Many people have been hostile, throwing plates of food towards my RV as they drive by, they constantly beep as they drive by during sleeping hours, they yell out insults, & worst of all, they park behind or infront of me & sneakily leave boxes & stacks of glass botlles of alcohol or stacks of beer cans behind my RV or to the side of it, to frame me to appear like an intoxicated mentally unstable person. Since I always leave clean inside & out where I park, & even pick up random trash left outside the parking space I stay at, people that hate for no reason intentionally leave trail of trash, thrown food, even dirty used toilet paper, & beer bottles to make me appear like a dirty mentally ill person so that everyone can report me. The government isnt the only problem, a lot of society doesnt care to help & automatically looks down on you & assumes the worst when they see you in a living situation where its outside of a regular home. Ive seen so many posts on apps like nextdoor neighborhood app, where the public bashes people living in their vehicles & assuming the worst of them, calling them sex offenders, violators, running criminals & etc. Not once has someone knocked on the door or presented themselves with kindness with a curious mind of what youre truly like when u live in ur vehicle. Anyways, i believe the problem is the government but a lot of society too. Not everyone assumes the worst but many people do

It's about time the government caught up with the fact that there is a new category of homeless people. Retirees living in their cars because they can't afford rent. I'm a 64 year old woman who worked from the time I was 15. I have two degrees from the University of Washington. I've been living in my car for the last year because my Social Security payment is so far beneath the poverty line it doesn't even register. Once you're homeless, people treat you different even my doctor who I had years before I became homeless treats me different as if being homeless equates to a total personality change. I'm in Oregon by the way. Snap payments are a joke. If you cannot keep food cold or warm food up, you are cut out of about 90% of what you are allowed to buy. Our government needs a wake-up call.

None of it is legal. People sleeping in tents is illegal, but in order to MOVE the homeless, there is a law that says they must go to shelters. Cops can tell them they need to move but can't move them to shelters unless they agree to go. They just need to migrate to another street which begins the whole cycle over again. Our problem is the laws and what many squatters did to homes during the pandemic, pushing rent up. We had renters we kept the rent low for and then she violated the agreement, bringing a dog into the house letting it shit on the carpet, didn't pick it up and had a 2 year old living in that filth. We asked her if she was okay and then started making excuses that she wanted to take a vacation and be late on the rent. We allowed it and then over and over again, she'd put off paying or say she forgot. Stopped paying for several months. She was still working because we did a welfare check on her. Then, finally put in a 30 day notice when the electric company removed the electricity box, which we had to pay to get it reinstalled. She was due to get her deposit back, but decided to destroy our home inside and out, taking a baseball bat to the doors and walls. Leaving the dog shit all over inside the place. We had to spend $4 grand extra including her deposit to clean and remodel. Landlords have to raise the rent to cover the losses as any business would. Renters have been an issue and they all caused it with their attitudes but none of them will admit it.

No, being an asshole and committing crimes such as living like an animal when you aren't is a crime in the U.S. There is no reason why anyone needs to be homeless. This is the biggest lie of all. There's not one so-called cause of homelessness which isn't avoidable or fixed within a matter of a few hours. We are done with the left treating these human beings like they are animals that we need to go around taking care of as they live as stray animals. Human beings are NOT animals and we are not going to allow them to act like it. In fact, we don't even treat animals the way the left is treating the homeless in this country. The homeless need to get it through their head that they are not animals and they are able to take care of themselves and if they are so severely disabled that they can't we have hospitals for them to be committed to for as long as they need 24/7 caregiving. We will not be putting out dog bowls for them like they are dogs, nor put out litter boxes for them to go potty in or build public showers or take hoses to them after they got sprayed by a skunk or something. We may do that for animals but we aren't doing it for humans. We are also done with human beings urinating and defecating on public sidewalks and streets. That's done. We don't care if the left wants to say that isn't a crime. It is a crime and you are going to go to jail if you take a shit or piss on a sidewalk. We aren't going to pay people to be Pooper Scoopers and go around after the homeless to pick up their shit nor are we going to pay people to hose down public sidewalks and streets to remove human urine.

They want you to take up those fast food jobs that don't get you 40 hours so you take on two of them and they want you to stack up in apartments where everyone has their personal room and share a kitchen and bath. Instead ppl chose to live in their cars. Their plan to force us into high rents backfired! Some state just announced they are trying to make it illegal to live in public places - sidewalks, etc. If caught you will be arrested and taken to jail! 🥺 Game plan? Fill the jails up to keep jobs in remote areas where most US jails are. Remember, many inmates were released for the marijuana laws that have changed. Yep, all of this is intentional. Good ole 🇺🇸

If a city doesn't want people to sleep in their vehicles then that city must address the problem of why this happens. It's not just an alcohol or drug problem, it's mostly an unaffordability problem. No one wants to have 0 money left per month for proper food, a haircut or medicine or to have no money to anything but sit in one spot and wait to die. Housing has become too expensive and even the elderly who were lucky enough to have their homes paid off can no longer afford the taxes nor the maintenance on their homes. I travel alot and i have a bed setup in my SUV becuase I'm not paying 600+ dollars to stay in a hotel a few days. Ive had the problem countless times of being harassed by cops while trying to sleep someplace totally out of the way. Its obnoxious and im not even homeless. But i have the right to park in a legal space as long as I'd like. So long as someone isnt littering or crapping on the sidewalk, they should be left alone

I am a homeless person in an area with a lot of social services - but still a rampant homelessness problem. Some communities just don't care. But for those who do, they are afraid of liability. When homeless people are on their own and have problems with sanitation, heat, food, healthcare, etc then it's that person's responsibility how it works out. But if the city does pretty much anything to help, then the city risks getting sued. If someone dies in a park or under a bridge where they aren't supposed to be, then that's treated as an unfortunate tragedy, but the city can't be blamed. Someone dies in a municipal homeless camp, and suddenly it becomes a huge legal problem with investigations, lawsuits, etc because now the city has accepted a degree of liability. That's the big structural problem. There are also NIMBYs and neighsayers. But we live in a legal climate based upon exploitation rather than justice, where it's made too expensive and inconvenient to do the right thing.
