Change to LED 2nd Gen Prius Headlights | STOP changing bulbs!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How to install the AUTOONE LED Plug and Play headlight bulbs in a 2nd Generation Toyota Prius (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009). These bulbs replace the 3 prong halogen bulbs in these models. Supposably the LED bulbs have an operating life of 50,000 hrs compared to the roughly 100 hrs or less I have been getting from halogen bulbs (Phillips and Sylvania), meaning time & money saved in the future! (paid links)
ORIGINAL LINK broken, these should be the same 9003 w/ 3 prong ($50):

ORIGINAL LINK to the bulbs used in this video ($42):

I will update the comments as any problems arise and with longevity updates.

Terrific job, thanks! Used this to replace the halogen bulb, but now you convinced me to go with LEDs. Thanks again!

Thanks for posting, looking to do same type of change. Will be going with your same bulbs, since we see that they work.

You are lucky to have the halogen headlights. People with HID headlights need to splice and replace the HID connecters with H4 connectors

Hi, the link seems to be down. Do you have an alternate? I'm in Australia so ideally something sold from in Australia. Thank you.

If you put LED into your prius, PLEASE PLEASE, make sure you lenses are clear. If they're hazy it really creates a lot of glare for oncoming traffic.... and reduces your light throw distance.

Thank you! 🙌 Just to clarify for myself and your viewers; these LED bulbs replace the original halogen bulbs WITHOUT the need to do the wiring conversion AND these fit into stock halogen designed headlight assembly?

Yes, no need to do a wiring conversion for these ones, they fit in the stock housing. They are still going strong in this Prius!

How about the state inspection? Is this change acceptable?

  • @findoutDIY

That’s a good question, and depends on local regulations. Washington State has no specific rules regarding the maximum number of lumens on led headlights. Washington State also does not require any kind of inspection on personal vehicles. Other US States and other countries may have tighter regulations and restrictions.
