I love your videos ! They are so fun and relaxing to watch. After watching few videos of yours. My love for Chanel is back. I didn't get anything new from Chanel for like 10 years + and now I use the N°5 shower gel every night (it make me feel so good and happy. I find that the EDT has more layers to it and it reminds me of the Chanel no 5 that was used a long time ago. But I also love the EDP. Hopefully one day I can get the pure perfume. Great review!

Dacob, your videos are fueling my Chanel craze in a big way! I love the house and only now that I'm in my early 30's am I able to not only appreciate No5 but I truly craaave it! Also considering picking up L'Eau and pure parfum but I have small reservations about them. My heart is loyal to edt! Thanks for sharing, love.

Get the Parfum! I bought L’Eau and Parfum together and realized that what I liked about L’Eau was the signature no.5 scent/element! I found myself kept going back to the pure parfum instead of L’Eau 😂 I won’t repurchase L’Eau even tho it is beautiful but Parfum is just so RICH and delicious which L’Eau lacks.

You are so right about the initial blast Dacob. Its like ‘where is it’. It has to settle....

I know Chanel no.5 edt isn't as beautiful as the pure perfume but I sprayed it on the other day when I was shopping and it still gave me the emotional hit.

I’ll tell you what my dear. I’ve been all up into Tom Ford lately. I was reading Fragrantica reviews of the MOST HATED scents of all time. Two of them often included o. The list were..Chanel No.5 and Clinique Aromatics. I had never tried Chanel No.5 before. I was doubtful..and I smelled it and I immediately recognized why it is iconic. It smells like wealth and health, department stores at Christmas time, and rich socialites celebrating with champagne. It is really fine in a surprising and memorable way. I appreciate this perfume has invited me to use it! Thank you No. 5! Champagne 🥂

So glad I found this video! I've been in love with no.5 for 30 years! I've always thought it was a more winter fragrance, but do wear it year round. Combine it with a top spray of coco mademoiselle for a bit of spice. I also keep mine in natural lighting. What is a splash? Is it the same make-up as the edt? I wish it would last longer.i remember how heavy it used to be before the new formulation.

Splash designates perfume bottles that do not have a sprayer but just a twist stopper and then when open, the wearer just splashes the perfume onto the skin or to the finger.

The pure parfum is the bomb! Super elegant and mysterious! And as for the purse editions.. I carry the full on 100ml spray bottle with me everywhere. haha! Its big but I don't mind. I am happy to have my N°5 everywhere I go :)

So sad that Chanel has reformulated such classics! I recently fell in love with my bottle of No. 5 and did not realize that it had been reformulated. When people would say that it is such a heavy perfume I'd be so confused, because the new EDP hardly makes an impression on me. Still lovely, still chanel, just lighter. I did however score a bottle of vintage Chanel no. 19 Parfum! Mind blowingly beautiful. Thanks for the videos Dacob!

Thank you for the lovely comment Jacob :) Yes, they are all lighter now which is sad if you think that they are just a shadow of what they used to be in their glory days. They are still lovly but so watered down that they evaporate in e few minutes at times... I literally tried on Westwood's "boudoir" yesterday and did not like it on my skin but it wouldn't go away even after hours so I sprayed first cuir de russie on top to cover it but guess what... cuir de russie evaporated and there was boudoir right underneath it, still going strong... after that I sprayed N°5 edt over it and after just 15 minutes there was boudoir again... still going strong! Incredible how weak the CHANEL's have become... but I still love them despite the shame... xoxo

haha! Yes! I bathe in this paper thin juice! I love it so much! It evaporates in less than 20 minutes sometimes but I still love every second of those 20 minutes... haha... plus yes... I love to shower in it. haha... xoxo

I'm excited to get a 2000s bottle of the EDT! Currently using a decant of the Cologne, and really enjoying it since spraying it from a slight distance so it's distributed more diffusively across my skin. When I do a spray puddle, "it's a full on Monet" of oakmoss and civet. Thanks for reintroducing me to Chanel no.5. 💛💛

Its definitely watered down a hella lot but I still love it! Its still fabulous even for only those 20 minutes it lasts on my skin ;) haha. Is it worth the money... no clue.... probably not.. but I can't help it... I am addicted to my CHANEL... xoxo

COCO NOIR is amazing! I love it! I have both the eau de parfum and the pure PARFUM... I use it a lot from August to November usually... Don't know why... but it just attracts me to it in that period the most :) WIsh you a lot of fun with your new CHANEL fragrance dear :) xoxo

First I'll say, I've been binge watching your reviews. You have such a great way of weaving narative with your thoughts on fragrances and bags by Chanel. I wanted to ask, I am a fan of the No.5 pure parfum, but I myself love powerhouses in silage and projection. I wanted to know which of the other No.5 fragrances (EdP/EdT) would fit closest to my desires for the parfum scent profile, but with greater projection and silage? Thank you for your videos!

Thank you. None of the N°5s are powerhouses in the 80's meaning of the word but the only one that goes there a bit is the EDP... after all, it was released in the 80's...

I smelt this for the first time. I loved it.

To me, n. 5 feels like a close friend hugging me and telling me 'Ok girl, let's do this together!', it makes me feel strong and secure and I have no idea why! No other perfume does that, I really wonder what is it about n. 5 that plays mind tricks on me...not that I complain.

Hello I recently found you through your video on how to act in a high-end boutique and it came in so useful I went to Chanel the other day to buy a boy bag and I usually feel a bit self-conscious but I took your advice and was laid back and patient and I noticed all the rude obnoxious people !!! one woman even bending over the SA reaching into the cupboard grabbing bags I never would've noticed this before I was calm and a couple of SA even came and said hello to me and that they liked my bag so your video came in super super useful thank you.

When i was at the boutique I bought a bottle of Chanel Allure, wow you have to get a sample. I think all scents are unisex, apart from the sickly sweet girly ones. Tom Ford says his fragrance should be used by everyone :-)

Yes you do need to make a video on your Summer of Layering...on your Perfume High. So now I have to get dressed and go downtown and get my bottle of CHANEL No.5 EDT. My favorite This Summer fragance is a toss up between Cristalle and No.19 coco coco coco

I know Its super light. My older bottle lasts longer but I still love the new version... even though it lasts tops 20 minutes on my skin... The oldest I have ever smelled was an old bottle from the 70s... loved it... but I still love the new one too... even though I believe it to be a rip off... The hair mist smells liek the dt but more intense... and it lasts longer.. go figure... ;) xoxo

Dacob, I loved your review of No 5 EDT. This is the only formulation of No 5 that I don't have, so now I'm inspired to try it. Have you tried the 2016 LE of No 5 body oil (L' Huile Corps)? It's amazing. I know you love the aldehydes of No 5 proper, but I think they are absent in the Oil version (not certain though). This version is all about the florals and the sandalwood. I thoroughly recommend it and I hope you get a chance to try it if you haven't.

Thank you so much :) Unfortunately I cannot tell you which fragrance might last a long time on your skin since I do not know how your chemistry is. I can tell you that fragrances like Yves Saint Laurent's "noble leather" and DIor's "OUD ISPAHAN" last days on my skin. But that does not have to be the case for your skin because we are all different. I suggest you try them out and see how much longevity you get out of them :) Good luck. xoxo

Perhaps the scent is so much well blended with your chemistry that you do not sense it on yourself. This of course does not mean that others do not smell it on you ;) xoxo

I just bought a bottle of the EDT! I love the scent! I bought it because it couldn't find stetson anymore and this is a good replacement! but Chanel feels more special! It's a bit less floral than the EDP. so it's got really great balance. love it! great video!!!

Fab video as always. I love re-watching your Nº5 videos. There's a lot going on with Nº5 and myself at the moment. I'm about to finish my 50ML bottle of Nº5 EDP and so will be going on to my 100ML EDP that I received for Christmas. And I'm over two-thirds of the way through my 50ML bottle of the EDT and so just bought a 100ML EDT for my birthday which is in March. I also bought the Nº5 Deodorant just after Christmas which I am loving and have found that it smells a lot more like the EDT than it does the EDP. I also need to purchase the pure Parfum in the refillable spray form as the regular bottle takes too long to make use of in the morning without spilling any (my heart pounds in case I drop it). xoxo

Very difficult question as you know... They need to fit well to your skin. I have a friend of mine who loves the smell of Sycomore out of the bottle but does not like how it turns on her skin... so you see... you need to know how the fragrance develops on your skin... I wouldn't want to tell you which one to get and then you being disappointed... I prefer SYCOMORE because I find it ultimately more versatile and elegant than COROMANDEL. COROMANDEL screams in your face with baroque opulence while SYCOMORE is more the dark sided brother that lays dead in the earth but keeps roaming the lands as a ghost, always leaving an earthy trail behind... xoxo

Besides, in most cases in perfumery, certain natural ingredients get outcast just so that private chemistry companies can create a synthetic copy of the original ingredient so that they can patent it and charge a lot of money for brands to use the synthetic derivate of the natural ingredient which has been banned.

I love Chanel N°5. You’re right about it being androgynous, especially the eau de toilette version. I don’t understand how smelling clean and gorgeous is only for women. How would you say the eau de toilette compares to the pure parfum? I’m curious mostly about the longevity. I love the eau de toilette but it just doesn’t last as long on me as I’d like it to.

The pure parfum lasts a very long time on me when I use the spray version and when it also sprays on my clothes... it also lasts over night on my skin in the chest area. The edt has a much shorter longevity but that is normal for an edt concentration.

For me hands down Dacob is the best perfume reviewer on KZread..just saying

Hi dear atlan. N°5 keeps me alive too! Such a pulse of life running through its core!!! The hair mist has been around for many years now... I had it way back in the early 2000s... are you sure you mean N°5 hair mist? The one they just released is the CHANCE eau vive hair mist... in any case... the N°5 hair ist is very similar to the eau de toilette formulation. I like it a lot! Do I dare say that the hair mist has longer lasting power than the eau de toilette... perhaps... I need to try the hair mist on my skin directly... since I almost always use it only on my hair... xoxo

Hi Super Dacob:) Yes I am subscribed to CHANNEL News Letter and they sent me a message it's marketed as an "exlusive". It is 1.35 ounces sells for $65.00. I did not know they had this in the early 2000's Anyway if you go to their website it's their. :) xoxo

They might have limited it. They just did the same to CUIR DE RUSSIE and some other les exclusifs fragrances. Some of them have an "EXCLUSIVE" stamp on their description. No clue why CHANEL would be limiting some products all of a sudden. The hair mist is vastly present in most good assorted perfumeries that carry CHANEL but who knows... perhaps they discontinued it in the US. But the hair mist really smells divinely! I showed it my CHANEL N°5 general review from a year ago. Its a tiny spray bottle but the smell is really good. xoxo

Chanel No. 5 EDT is CHOICE ❤️🙌🏽

I have just started my Chanel collection. I just bought Coco and No. 5 Eau Premier and got a sample of No. 5 Leau. I didn't like No. 5 (the original) when I was younger. I smelled it recently on paper but I should have worn it on my skin to get a true feel for it. It's so strong on paper. Should I just start with the EDT since I'm trying to get back into it slowly?

Its a bit tricky since you need to smell all the formulations on your skin first. I would go to a perfume shop and test them out through a couple days since there are many. This way you can see which one smells the best to you on your skin :) The EDT is amazing but the best CHANEL N°5 is the pure parfum! Develops like heaven on the skin :) xoxo

Right. There is no gender for perfumes i agreed to that. I wore No 5 today at work and i got much compliments. They like it on me. Suits my personality.

Its a wonderful perfume and very complex too. The edt is iconic.

I just bought the 100 ml No5 and was so disappointed that it lasted for only 15 mins😪. It's beautiful though. I guess I just have to keep applying. Thank you for your review.

I have the Chanel No 5 EDT purse spray. It makes me feel so good especially on a stressful day. The purse spray is portable so I can spritz myself again n again throughout the day

After trying so many okay mens offerings I finally landed on No 5 edt. As I was afraid smelling slightly dated, I sprayed it on under my shirt before bed time, thinking if I don’t like it no harm done. Morning came… I woke up feeling like a king of the universe. I was welcomed by a gentle touch of elegance and a sweetness of hug. I’m buying a bottle as soon as I finish my decant. I must say that 50ml refill bottle with black and gold casing is tingling my scenes. Look at them, so sexy. Imagine pulling that out in the public, yes my friends deal with it!

Hi , guess what I tried the #5 on the top of my arm instead of me pulse point , and it's on for 5 hours so far . Wow it's good to experiment. I'm getting smart in my old age...LOL.

Dear Dacob!!!!!!! I absolutely love love love your passion for chanel No5!!!! One time, i was in the hospital elevator and this older woman smelled so sophisticated and so good. i asked her what it was: Chanel No 5. I went to the dept store and tried it.. and it didnt seem the same on me! I must be missing something. perhaps i need the pure parfum to try? i am heartbroken if my chemistry sucks! LOL i picture your impromptu vacation where we are all in a random apt little gated pool with no shade, all four corners surrounded by shabby buildings , but ghetto style decked out in chanel and chanel no 5!!!! all because we wouldnt make the time to find a better place! LOL and farah and Lanier come decked out too. but we all missed the memo! haha. i know you can picture it too!!! BIG HUGS BROTHA!!!!! Loved this video... and oh i also love NY! :)

UUUHHHHH!!! That scene my dear sister is sooooo movie worthy! I envison it perfectly! Could have been a Tarantino scene when Tarantino was still super pop back in the nineties and early noughties!!! I'm thinking Pulp Ficiton here! Us four in the hetto gated pool area!!! Decked in CHANEL and CHANEL perufme... Loving it!!! I just bought a N.5 Bottle Perfume.... By the way I read that fragrances should not be applied directly to the skin because the oils and ph that the skin has alter the ingredients of the fragrance, and some of them can be really fragile. So it's better to use a cloth or a dropper.

No, its great to apply to the skin directly so that the perfume's ingredients mix with our own skin and our own hormonal balance :) This way the perfume changes and becomes out own and smells different on everybody. You wouldn't want to smell the same way as everybody else wearing the same perfume? The beauty of finding the scent that suits you is hunting down the fragrance that changes best on your skin and that smells the best to you once it has been applied directly to your skin :) xoxo

I just bought an Edt because I realized I never had a number 5, but I’ll stick with shalimar 😊

How is the projection and silage in n5 edp? How many sprays should I go for 100ml, 3.4oz.

Hey Debbie :) You mean the N°19 EDT 100ml spray bottles available today? Those were made as N°5 edt bottles around the early to late 00's, however, FF1 is not a CHANEL batch code... is there no batch code on the lower back part of glass bottle etched in? Four digits? Yes, the no 19 edts without the cap and a direct push button sprayer. Okay, so turn of the century. I know that batch code is weird. It's etched on the back towards the top. I did notice one other thing since I commented. This one was Made in the USA. Thanks though, I tried to research it and got no where. Xoxo!

Do they still manufacture some of their USA market fragrances in the US? I don't think they do anymore... Not sure though...

I tried the eau de parfum on one wrist and the eau de toilette on the other. They smelled slightly different. But the eau de toilette lasted almost as long.

Edt and edp are not necessarily a sign of shorter and longer lasting power. They are just two different approaches to the smell of the formula.

@@SuperDacob I agree. I will say that the EDT smells closer to what my mom wore when I was little in the early 80s. It’s also lighter than the EDP. I actually ordered a bottle of EDT last night for spring and summer. Thank you for your video beautiful! Your the best! I love ever video you put out!😘

How do you find vintage no 5 parfum, and know your not buying fakes, or watered down product?

I agree with you, but I’ve listened Frederic Malle recently about reformulations and so on. And the main point is that some allergens may hurt people that smell you. That’s why your solution won’t work. So it’s not only about skin allergies.

Hi Dacob, on Saturday I'm planning on adding Chanel No 5 to my collection, I'm unsure which to choose between the EDP or EDT. I have and love L'eau and someone told me that if I already have L'eau then skip on the Chanel No 5 EDT. Could you give me your opinion on that please? Thank you xx

Dear Whirl! I disagree completely! The EDT of N°5 is unique and very different form the L'EAU... but if you wish to have the FULL N°5 bloom then I would suggest the pure PARFUM :) xoxo

I did not like it for 3 days. But then suddenly im obsessed!! Going through it like theres no tomorrow. It needs refreshing every few hours!! Im spraying it on my bedding and its smells divine. Could only smell roses at first but now for some reason it smells how i remembered it from years ago. Liking the freshness for warmer weather... edp for winter.
