This was a gift I received last year form my birthday at Galeries Lafayette in Paris. I got Paris-Paris and Paris-Venice, plus my Allure, and the sales lady gifted me 1957 because she said it is similar to Paris-Venice. Well she was right at least to me. I love wearing it during springtime while Paris-Venice is my choice (one of many) for summertime and early autumn. I think it’s lovely, chic and old fashioned in a beautiful way. Somehow it makes me think of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly with those glamorous beach outfits at the French Riviera back in the 50’s. But if you ask me to chose one from the Exclusives line, I would definitely say Bois des Isles. That’s my favorite by far! I could go for 1957 for spring and summer. Bois would be my choice for autumn and winter. Of course in a parallel universe where I should only choose two from the line to wear the whole year. Luckily that won’t happen!😂

🙋🏻‍♀️Dacob, I absolutely love it and you are so right, it is “CHANEL” on the initial spray, it settles quickly,so I’m able to spray and go it dries down into such a classy elegant scent. I purchased a small bottle a few months ago as I wasn’t too sure in store but I will be indulging in a big bottle .😍❤️🧡 Love Stani xx

Great thorough review. I have 1957 though I’ve not worn it in over a year. I resisted taking it out and sniffing it while listening to your review though I must admit my memory serves me up some different images. I’m busy deciding on some other Chanel Chanel fragrances at the moment so it’ll be a week or two before I get to back to this one. I just replenished my No19 and both Cristalle formulations for summer. There isn’t any EDP available but I’m o.k. with that. I’ll use these generously as fresh all over scent and then top them with some other signature mood. I’m still very much enjoying cometé as a sparkling everyday scent and I might be all set unless I find some vintages. Thanks Dacob for being the joy that you are. Cheers!

I own a mini dabber of this. It is very clean and has a lovely (not overpowering) powdery musk. Gives me a slight Prada infusion iris vibe, but this lacks the incense and that one has a more prominent cedar base. Chanel really blends their fragrances well.

Those splash dabber 1957 bottles are rare! I do not detect iris. Le Lion has a strong iris scent at the base. 1957 is quite wonderful, reminds me of Sycamore but with a lot of musk

@@cmk9495 I would say be careful with Le Lion. It's very similar to Shalimar or Héritage by Guerlain but with a lot of burnt smoke in the midnotes and iris drydown. It has very small glimpses of Cuir de Russie and Coromandel. It is very strong and even Dacob has said it behaves like a pure parfum/extrait. It's not for everyone and a lot of people find it "offensive"

I was able to smell this, and wanted to buy it right then, I love this perfume, I am going to go back and try it on, so I love Aldahides, florals, oak moss, iris, vetiver any suggestions?

I would say Sycomore for the vetiver, No22 for the major aldehydes, aromatics elixir for the oakmoss and dior homme original for the iris… this is a suggestion for colder months 🥰🥰🥰

Those glasses are hard. I need to know what they are.

i gotta say most of my Chanel full sizes and other perfumes I like are made by Olivier Polge.

He has a specific signature which if one loves it, then it makes sense that one prefers his creations for Chanel over the ones created by his predecessors.
