Deegan took that over the bars like a champ. He’s like rubber and tough as it gets. Let the haters hate, they just wish they were him and had an incredible work ethic. Kid is more disciplined than 99.9% of people, that’s why he wins.

Back in the day I was a flagger for the SCCA and IMSA. We were told from the get-go that if we ever wanted to see piss poor flagging just turn on the TV and watch any AMA event. It was pretty much a inside joke about how poor the flagging was at any motorcycle event, particularly Motocross and supercross. They could easily get flaggers from the auto racing side of the sport if they'd make the effort. They'd be trained and competent. Then you could start punishing people who ignore blue flags etc

We learned of high pulse rates, but watched a zoomed in Lorocco’s leap that looked like a pit bike jump on TV. It’s also comforting to hear Will’s exceptionally long winded “reports” that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual race. Every time she talks, something happen’s in the race and we miss key passes or significant changes in rider positions and she keeps going and going. Ricky is getting worse, if that’s even possible. First off I just want to say, I really enjoy your video's. With comments about the flagging issue. Here in Canada we actually pay our flagger's at our local race's and our National series. And the club's pay them 100+ per day. So I hear you about the flagging issue. Keep exposing the CORRUPT people of motocross.

correct; flaggers should be on the outside exit of corners, inside entry to corners and on the top of jumps near the down ramp area at bare minimum; flaggers also need to be trained not to watch on-coming traffic like they are obviously doing; they aren't there to be spectators.

Super pumped for Chance Hymas getting the overall, but Ty Masterpool emptying the tank after moto 1 was really evident to how he performed towards the end; luckily Ty didn't have to worry about Deegan. That crash from Deegan is a sign that we got average joes as flaggers. As I said before, if Duke Finch were still AMA Manager, he'd be puking his lungs out at how the flagging there was handled. If the flagger has to go onto the track to protect the rider, then so be it! How can they not know that??? Good stuff as usual, Cooksey!

They should have a tower with a Flagger next to every big jump or blind jump. Swan MX in Texas has them. You’d think the big factory teams would fork out the money for flagger’s. It’s in their best interest. Imagine the money Star Yamaha would have lost if Deegan had got hurt (and he probably is a little banged up). Everyone talks about growing the sport, but we don’t even have qualified people out there flagging the race. But a gear company will pay a rider a quarter million a year to wear their boots. You have to start at the bottom up if you want this sport to grow. Because right now the sport is like a crack head in a nice suit.

You are right about the problems with flaggers. At the very least, they should be trained and certified as a flagger. I also believe that paid flaggers would improve the safety as we would likely have a better quality of workers people who take the job seriously. I also agree that someone will likely get hurt badly unless this issue is resolved. Chance Hymas also missed the Red Cross flag. A rookie mistake? Maybe. Technology such as flashers would also be helpful.

That could have ended DAnger's career. It cost him the podium which is $30k+ they cost him. They need to only hire flaggers with Pro, A, or B class racing experience and a short training. Supply an umbrella or build a little overhang for shade in sunny spots... And get them off their ass out on the track to protect racers from going over blind spots into pileups. It could kill a downed rider... Way too much money in this sport for cutting those kind of corners. I burst my C1 in 1986 Mini O's in 125A Sx practice cause a sleeping flagger and I was wide open over a fast & out triple only to land in a pileup. I raced 4 days rubbing icey hot on my burst C1 getting 12th in Sx, 3rd in TT, 4th in first mx moto, and was 5th in second mx moto when I went numb and pulled off. I was FL 125A State Champ that yr, was almost 3rd overall in 125int that summer in Ponca with a 2-2 going into 3rd moto w Mike Craig & Denny Stephenson and in final moto I got clipped off start caught up from dead last to 3rd and bike seized after white flag and might of passed them both as I was a few sec a lap faster. So I was on couch a yr and off couch Jan 1988, I hopped on a Cagiva fill in ride for a day. I hadn't rode since Nov 1986. I ran a 5 lap practice session, then swept motos by a half a lap both motos in 1988 Gatorback Winter Am 125A - Glenn Somerville #798. Made only two pro sx main events I ever signed up for... 1988 Tpa 125 Pro Esx & Daytona 125 Pro Esx. But no sponsors wanted me after my C1... doctors didn't even want me out there. I quit after 11th at Daytona... They botched the records... I got the oversized $400 chk... either way, never dropped a gate again... This could have ended Danger's career. His dad needs to get Haiden $30k for missing the podium from DC.

As far as flaggers are concerned, was just putting thought to it as you were talking about the need for organization flaggers. There probably should dedicated yellow flaggers and then ones for blue and others. I noticed that the flagger for Deegan’s accident, appeared to not even have a yellow flag on the ready. He was more concerned with throwing the blue flag. He should have been at the top of that hill and only had the yellow flag in hand. Getting that yellow flag out as soon as an accident happens is way more important than telling a slower rider to get out the way.
