Champion 8000 portable generator setup for house
Ғылым және технология
This is my whole home generator setup. It powers the whole house including the AC. I'll show you the inlet box, the interlock to prevent backfeeding and the generator itself. The inlet box is a Conntek GIBL1430-025 which included the 25 foot power cord.

I have watched many videos on generator setup but this video is very informative and does not leave any room for questions. Great guy, great video! Just bought the Champion #100416 (Tri-Fuel 8kW(running) to 10kW(max) and trying to set up. Very, very helpful ! Thank you!

I have since converted this to natural gas, did a couple other videos. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Nice safety explanations. ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks.
Thanks for making this video, very insightful 🙏👍
What kit did you use to convert your generator with natural gas?

Just cut the hose to the factory regulator and used a Woodward low pressure regulator. Runs on both natural gas and propane. Worked great here in Texas during the power outages.
Those interlocks (interlock brand) are $149.99 as of today, big ripoff. I was very fortunate to find one on closeout (interlock brand) for $19.99. Like you said, have to be up to code so we have to pay the price.
Do you have any problem running a high-efficiency gas furnace with this generator?

Mine is standard efficiency and I have no issues. They draw very little power.
Can you run the AC with only the 30AMP plug? I was reading that a 50 AMP plug is needed.

Yep, it’s 240v the AC draws around 15 Amps.

I recently bought the tri-fuel Champion and to run my 2 1/2 ton AC upstairs I have the Micro Air Easy Start “soft”start kit that reduces the starting amps from 73 to 26. Quite an impressive device that’s easy to install and let’s me run the AC.

@@Ojb_1959, you are correct. The AC has the biggest draw at start up so if you don't have a soft start make sure you put your AC all the way down so it doesn't turn on and off while running generator.

@@jmpardo88 I got it on ebay. I would search your model number on an HVAC parts website and see if you can find the one for yours, then buy it where ever. You can also buy the generic 5-2-1. hard start.

@@billybassman21 okay I found it and I see that you, indeed added a natural gas line with a quick connect.
This is one of those videos that has not aged well regarding the price of gasoline.

I run the generator off natural gas and propane as a backup so it doesn't matter. My gasoline reserves is mainly for my car.
