Chamber of Destiny Model Test

Ойын-сауық

Hello! These are much older videos and ones in this playlist may be missing parts and context. Here's a look at the little things this channel use to do before and some of the early How It Works videos that use to go by "How Does This Ride Work" (quite a lengthy name) Here is a full motion and lighting test of my Chamber of Destiny model.
Hi, welcome to Amusement Labs. Here I'll show you the awe inspiring engineering behind your favorite rides with information and footage you won't find anywhere else.

    @@AmusementLabs It's something that drives me nuts with "Trackless" dark rides. The story wants you to think you're avoiding danger at every turn, but you can see every swerve and diversion miles before it actually happens. The original Test Track was bad for it as well. Remember the ABS test?

    @@Sn0wc4t that's true, I think that's why often lights point up from below as to keep as much light away from the floor. Additionally on Indie and all the other installations you're seated high up and the turns are tight so you can see very little of the slot.

    I can’t wait for the day when they create a trackless ride system that can be as physically intense as Indiana Jones. The few trackless rides Disney has now use special effects and sets to make up for the slow moving vehicles and flat terrain, but it would be cool if they could implement hills and drops safely into a trackless ride. Then it would be really unpredictable!

    Hummm, I just had a thought. In the ride the 3 doors have 3 different symbols that correspond to the chamber you go down. With this model, doesn't it mean that the symbol for the door would stay the same each time? And looking at ride POV from 7 years ago the symbol did correspond to the chamber, w/o a projection to alter the symbol. It had a physical presence. This is still AWESOME, but I think the door function may be off... But also, what do I know.

  • @AmusementLabs

    @AmusementLabs

    3 жыл бұрын

    There's a clip from a news segment showing that the archway moved with the ceiling/rafters. The doors themselves are/were all the same and the rafters and archways would move to align with the real door. I didn't include the symbols in this model cause that would've taken too long to design in and at this scale it wouldn't look that great.

    If you look up the video "Disney After Dark: Indiana Jones Adventure", you can get a clearer view of the door w/o projections when the feature worked, and it appears that the same door with physical snake designs opens and closes. So there are projections that alter the three doors corresponding to their respective chamber. Disney just does a good job with the illusion.

    @@Bmn360 yes, the new projection effect was the end of the physical effect and the projections kind of fudge the door order so the middle door could be any of the three. So each time the doors kind of get scrambled.
