This dish was devised by the chef at the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo in 1936 when a Russian opera singer Feodor Chaliapin requested an extra tender steak. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpt82pKzccLKg5c.html The thoroughly sauted onion goes great with this steak.

I love the way Chef, after putting the final touches on the dish, places her arms at her side, stands proud while looking into camera, smiling, withdrawing from her creation to let it present itself, like a work of art. Whether cultural or idiosyncratic, it's an elegant gesture. Kudos, Chef! (And Francis, of course.)

Konnichiwa. I love you guys and subscribe to your channel. The story is interesting. Apparently, Chaliapin was in Tokyo in 1936 to make recordings in a studio with advanced technical equipment. He was staying at the Imperial Hotel. He had developed a toothache and asked if the restaurant staff could tenderize a steak for him. Thisl is the famous result....

Thank you for the recipe chef~, I've been wanting to try this recipe from ages... those manga make this seem so tender. If only we can see you cut into the steak at the end, it would be better in my opinion

Thank you so much for the recipe! I just tried to make it and it was great! I still have a lot to practise to make it as good as yours, though ^^'

Great quick weeknight dinner! Though in my case, the beef could have benefited from more pounding to make it more tender...
