    I know that both titanium and carbon fiber are both expensive compared to steel, but I would be intrigued to see the chains made with a lighter weight metal. I would even say im interested to see what decent quality aluminum could do as well. If the chain was a bit ligher overall, or possibly having lighter chain links the farther away from the central turning mass, then I could easily see this type of design working much better overall with the size weed trimmer your using. Thanks for the informative video.

    My lawn mower will cut the grass, might be hard on it with the trees But the lawn tractor will do it, key point is don't let it get that bad. Plus the chain beats grass down it doesn't cut anything.

    I was thinking 1/8" braided steel cable that I would dig weld solid on the end to keep it from unraveling the big chain is scary looking

    Never use any kind of chain with a weed eater period. Why because you or someone else can get hurt if it breaks.

  • @jdw7092

    @jdw7092

    Ай бұрын

    It's definitely broken because of the gear head..and the shaft gear. that is rebar And the spine gear and bushing will not be able to receive the G-force from the chain because the chain will change the centrifugal force. From the chain link, the bushing in the tail of the cutter shaft becomes loose. ..The gear head to change direction is broken..and the gear shaft spines are eroding quickly. But it's a concept. That's really great. If the lawnmower manufacturer could add Performance of materials, gears and power transmission stronger

    Having removed a link from each chain, I put my device into use. However there was a persistent problem in long grass (4ft high+/-) with tangling, where instead of cutting the grass the chains just grabbed it a wound it around the head. So, I decided that the rotation was too slow, and removed an additional link from each chain. [The speed is partially controlled by the 'pendulum' effect, the shorter the pendulum, the faster it will rotate.] This improved matters significantly and there were no more tangles after that, and it smashed through 3/4 inch thick brambles with ease. Just another 70 ft, x 4ft wide x 7ft high, bramble jungle to go! .

    Hmmm, how long you used this chain-cutter ? I think after more than 1 hour of use the edges of the links are round and no longer square. Then he won't cut anything anymore. If the ground is rocky, it will fail even faster.

    Have you ever considered a guitar string I set one up years ago used the largest unwrapped string I had worked very well however we knew that IT was dangerous so I put the original head back on ,but it worked like a dream we determined it just wasn't worth that level of risk,

I had one canadian chain saw 42 cm blade that was my very very bast friend , a pioneer. I had a Japanese companion Daihatsu driven trimmer that is old and rimpled now and I cannot get it over my heart to make her work at that age.

    there is a video of one with bicycle chains and one with 2 loops of chainsaw chain (without teeth) I have used the one like a chainsaw chain and it works good, However it takes a strong brush cutter engine to swing it. I use a 3HP brushcutter for mine for a few years now and its great. stay away from hard objects though and ensure your not around pets or people.

    These were banned in the UK after a chain link broke off and severed a young girl's spinal cord making her a quadriplegic. If you need to cut real tough brush a saw blade is far more effective or perhaps even a brush cutter.

    Echo made a plastic trimmer head that had flat chains that worked great. You know what happened to them some crybaby had them recalled. Just because someone got hit by the chain breaking and hitting their legs. If you would change the chains to a say chainsaw chain it could cut through small trees.
