Chael Sonnen Is Too Stubborn To Admit That He's Wrong

Спорт

In this video I react to a debate between Ariel Helwani and Chael Sonnen. They debate whether or not Francis Ngannou won in the end in regards to him leaving the UFC for boxing and free agency. I believe that at this point it is undeniable that Francis did win, but Chael Sonnen can't accept it. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments.

    You should admit you are wrong if you are wrong period. Doesn’t matter if someone is rubbing your nose in it. That is the price to pay for being wrong. When you are wrong, put down your pride, bend the knee, and let the person who were right walk all over you. That is just what you get for being wrong. You just have to accept it. This is unwritten rules of society. Why can’t people just admit being wrong and deal the consequences? You don’t get to be wrong and free of consequences. It is not fair to people who are right.

I mean I get the premise, but I don’t know why he can’t accept someone might want to go their own way, to control their destiny on their terms. It’s like he cannot comprehend someone might not want to follow a blueprint, and any deviation in how someone wants to run their career is showbiz blasphemy. Doesn’t he understand that Francis wanted the freedom to do what he wanted, to be allowed to box and do other things, as well as the dispute with money? Francis odds of coming out of this in a positive light we’re so astronomical low that Ariel’s prediction wasn’t out of his ability to see Francis’s boxing skills that no one has ever seen before that match. He did it because he is a hater and likes when the ufc hits lows so he has stuff to talk about that is why ur prolly seeing a lot of chael support kinda hard to get ufc fans to hate the ufc as much as Ariel does.

Without Saudis making a leap on boxing this wouldn't happen. Obviously he played a lot of part in it and his personality, his charisma helped him achieving what he did. However, there was also lot of luck involved. If any other UFC fighter tries to do this chances of them succeeding will still be low. It was low for Ngannou and he somehow did it. That's a powerful delusion man. Ariel must have been watching that fight on tv just like Adrian in Rocky 2, pacing the floor. When Francis didn't shout him out in the ring after the fight I imagine that must have hurt Ariel pretty deeply - so don't judge him too harshly guys.

  • @iamjacquesbarjon
    @iamjacquesbarjon7 ай бұрын

    These are indisputable facts: 1) Francis Ngannou won financially the second that this fight was booked. Nothing that happened in the ring this weekend would have changed that. He already "won" just by getting the fight and the guaranteed $10M base if that's what it was. Him leaving the UFC was a risk in that there was no guarantee where his next fight was going to be or how much he was going to make. He was willing to take that risk because he wanted the opportunity to box, the UFC wasn't going to give it to him, and he was prepared to lose everything to stand on his principles. He even said he would be okay going back to farming just to have his freedom from the UFC. From that perspective, I totally agree with Francis and I applaud him. 2) The fight was not successful financially for THE PROMOTION because no one wanted to watch a 2pm fight that wasn't supposed to be competitive. I believe that it bombed. Probably sold less than 200K PPVs. But the Saudi's also don't care because they have more money than God. Look at how much money they're blowing on LIV Golf. These boxing fights are just the combat sports version of LIV. The LIV golfers are undeniably financially winning and LIV is burning money. If and when the Saudis stop doing this, all those guys will return to the PGA Tour and Francis will return to normal boxing fights or the UFC. Francis saw the opportunity and took advantage of it. 3) Leaving the UFC to test free agency in the hopes of getting a one-off boxing fight in Saudi Arabia would be a bad idea for 99% of the UFC roster because no one would care if Sean OMalley was boxing Tank Davis. That's not even remotely interesting. This opportunity was only available to Francis because of who he was, what he accomplished in the UFC, and the possibility that he could knock out the best boxer in the world. 4) Francis is a better boxer than anyone thought he would be. Now he's going to cash in HUGE and he "won" again this weekend because he was so good against Fury. Anyone arguing otherwise is just wrong.

He's a slimy gremlin man. Def not siding with Chael though, he's turned into such a shameless corporate shill. He can't even admit that making millions in 1 single fight (and one he came out unscathed from) is a win because he has to, religiously, defend the UFC's position. It's a valid argument when we're trying to see things from the UFC's viewpoint and understand their decision to part ways with Francis. @@GarlicOasis A broken clock is right twice a day is a truly fitting saying for this scenario. Francis quit his job in a sense to pursue boxing and the only money he made since In the boxing space was a hand out from your “excellency”. They lost money on the event. As Chael said, Francis was given money, he didn’t generate any significant revenue himself . As a business man if you quit your job and then later you just so happen to win the lottery you cannot now act like you made some genius business decision for quitting your job. It’s bad business for you to be relying on your main source of income to come from a handout bc some billionaire felt like blowing away millions just to enjoy himself. We’re discussing the business choice Francis made and on a balance of probabilities more often than not, it’s a shit business decision. If you’re business decision is solely reliant on the small percent chance you win the lottery or in this case you have a billionaire willing to lose MILLIONS of $’s then it’s a shit business decision. Hindsight is 2020, you can’t sit here and say it was a smart decision just bc it worked out for Francis. Businessmen operate on what is PROBABLE not what is POSSIBLE.

He made a huge gamble that could have ended his career, and everyone expected him to get beaten. The fact he made it competitive is what saved him from making the biggest mistake in combat sports history.

    I don’t really understand how it’s a bad choice to get your biggest paycheck of your career to compete less often, and in a sport that causes fewer injuries. The UFC offered 6-7 million to fight John jones and he made a minimum of 10 million. When he was when he defended his belt in the ufc he was only paid like 500k. If I could choose to fight 3 times in 2 years for 500k ea, I’d take the 10 mil

    @@bmmeier1 So a couple of things… As far as his pay in the UFC, Francis was holding out on an old contract when he left the org. He could have been fighting for more money if he wanted to. As far as the Bones fight… you might be looking at a trilogy. Probably 7 figure show plus PPVs for 3 fights. He only made like 11 mill off this Tyson fight, PPV only did like 66k buys. Francis made the right choice because boxing is better (pays more, fights less, etc.). While that statement is generally true it is not guaranteed. Many things had to go his way, and they did. Francis was fortunate and worked hard, but that doesn’t make the choice “right” at the time. Just because we can look back in hindsight and say “it worked out”. If you swerve across 4 lanes of traffic to get to an exit, but there’s no accident, did you make the right choice?

While Ariel sees this as being stubborn and having a vendetta against Ngannou. Which side is true depends on your perspective of Chael. Either ways Ariel has a mental complex where he always has to be more right than everyone in the room, to the point of twisting words, changing narratives, sounding smarter, or grossly exaggerating statistics to look more right. His emotions and anger towards the UFC were all tied up into this and he needed Francis to succeed as some kind of vindication for himself. That isn't to say he didn't have some good points though and he tried even harder to prove Chael wrong here than he did when he was trying to persuade everyone that Dricus was a pro apartheid racist and that Izzy is South African. So when he's not race baiting he is certainly passionate about Francis Ngannou - He even refers to him and Francis as "we".......I had flashbacks from Rocky 2 when Rocky said "Yo Adrian, we did it'......That's a deep love man and i hope Francis can reciprocate it a little.
