@Martha belle So what you are saying is, he was just an act-or. Actors aren't real. They just play a role. On the screen and in real life. They just go by a script. It's, crazy how Hollywood can make ppl cry, become sad and even anger ppl. They have you rooting for the bad guy and hating the good guy. The movie "Black Panther" that he played in, he was the villian not the hero. The black Panthers from the 60s are now the notorious Crips and Bloods. Gang Bangers.

I’m white male in my 60’s and thought this man glowed enlightenment He was evolved. I have two friends both colon cancer survivers and black under 40 and also both very special human beings ( as we all are) when I heard of chadwicks death from something so close to home it really shook me. It should not shock it’s extremely prevalent among black YOUNG males but rarely discussed . Chadwick saw it as personal issue which was his choice and right . Their was something about him you did not need to be black to feel most know him from black panther but he made other epics ( ie a message from the king ) where he through his talent portrayed a really important message consistently . That message well that’s yours to find . A great loss but a spirit like his does not just fade into the abiss . Awards trophies get dusty his memory will be fresh forever .

I'm Guilty of Becoming Obsessed With Watching Clippings of The Honorable Dr. Chadwick A. Boseman. I will yell it from off the tallest mountain. I'm not a shamed. Chadwick demise was just two days after my Mom's demise August 26, 2007. My bornday is September 3, 1982. I saw my Mom dead on my birthday. And her funeral was just the day after that. So I have not celebrated my born day every since. I have became obsessed with Watching Clippings of Chadwick almost everyday on KZread because it's still just to hard to believe that he has transitioned. I wish that when he was at HU even if I couldn't get in there that I would've stood on the outside of the fence to listen to his speech. Considering I live in Washington D.C. myself. IT WAS POWERFUL! Chadwick bought James Brown back to life when he did the movie, 'Get Up On It'! That's when my love for him blossomed because I could not believe how good he played that role! I'm a huge James Brown fan and I still play all his music to this day! Dr. Chadwick Boseman accomplished so much in such a short time. But he still was taking too soon. Honorable Dr. Chadwick A. Boseman I admired your strength and dignity. You are, will and forever would be my Black Hero of my Generation. You are Amazing, Intelligent, Influential and not to mention Handsome Black Man. Your strength and character has me starting today to work even harder and go for what God put me here for. I mean I work for D.C. government and I'm grateful. But this is not what God put me here for. You make an excellent role model for our Black Men.I'm going to end here because I'm beginning to cry. You will truly, truly be missed and I mean all of this from the top to the bottom of my heart 🖤🙏😥 Enjoy Your Spirit World. WAKANDA NOW AND FOREVER KING DR. CHADWICK AARON BOSEMAN 🖤🙅‍♀️🖤🙅‍♀️🖤🙅‍♀️🖤🙅‍♀️🖤🙅‍♀️🖤🙅‍♀️🖤🙅‍♀️🖤

I have not cried so hard in my life for a man I have never met. He transcended racial divide. We have lost Chadwick Boseman on this earth but we cannot lose hope for what he and ultimately all of us hope for. Peace to the world. ALL Lives Matter. Make the most of yours. Serve the Lord and your brothers and sisters. 🌎✌🙏

The more complicated one. The one that has more failures at first than successes. The one that has more ultimately proven to have more meaning, more victory, more glory, then you will not regret it. Now, this is your time. (Our) legacy is not wrapped up in the money you will make, but in the challenges you will choose to confront. Press on with pride. Press on with purpose. Slightly sickened by how many people are arguing he somehow isn't a legend, by claiming stuff like "dying from cancer does not make you a legend." or "He wasn't even known until Black Panther". Absolutely none of that matters or is even remotely correct. The people preaching that nonsense, fail to understand this: *Chadwick Boseman was (and forever will be) a true legend and real life superhero because of everything he achieved, while suffering from cancer and possibly being aware of the fact that it would soon claim his life.*. Now, despite the level of expression the English language affords us, I cannot find the words to properly express the extent of my admiration and respect for him. And neither can I find the words to properly express how much he has genuinely inspired me. May he rest in peace!

I'll never know what it's like to watch media and hardly ever see a face like mine in any meaningful or major role. In his life Dr. Boseman showed me how important it is for people to tell their stories their way period. I pray that his spirit catches fire in us all to speak our truth and walk our path and I'm thankful for the amazing body of work that he left to inspire us all to be better and do better in this world. Chadwick Boseman's speech deserves to be heard by every American in these times wherein the matter of the significance of black lives remains in stark and horrific question. The courage and brilliance of this splendidly talented human being shines through every minute of his humble, gracious, and profoundly powerful address to the graduating class of Howard University in 2018. The message and import of what Dr. Boseman is saying here resounds in synchronous harmony with America's present moment here on August 29th 2020. The courage and fortitude of Chadwick Boseman's capacity to carry on with his work for the past four years despite his ongoing private suffering and struggles with the surgeries and harsh therapies required to keep his cancer at bay are an inspiration to all who call themselves human. I hope and pray this commencement speech is heard by millions who will understand and take to heart and soul the reasons why Chadwick felt compelled to stand up to the executives who wanted him to play a stereotypical character with no redeeming qualities, as such a portrayal would only serve to deepen and reinforce the most negative fixed ideations in the minds of those whose souls have been degraded as they participate and serve in the cult of racism. May we ALL learn from and struggle to emulate the ideals and real-world example set by this wonderful man. Chadwick Boseman, may you Rest in the Eternal Peace of the Lord.

I totally agree with you, what we portray for many to watch goes deeper than them just watching, many times, it does a seed into their hearts and the seed eventually grows most times. So we need to make sure we portray life, positivity and above all, LOVE AND FAITH IN GOD. 😇😇😇

On this day, I remember you pouring your heart out to HU Class of 2018. Three years ago, I couldn’t help but smile when I learned that you were the commencement speaker. I laughed, cried but smiled as you spoke. Although your no longer here on Earth Chadwick, you touched lives. Your legacy will forever remain. You are resting and I’m grateful to be able watch this over and over. A gentle reminder to us all that we are here for a purpose. Every day is a gift and we have an assignment here. God gave and He took away because He knew best. Forever remembered. My favorite graduate speech ever 🥁❤️🤗

Brother Boseman may you rest in eternal peace. Words can’t express how I feel hearing that you passed away I have wept a few times. I don’t even want to say anything things else about 2020. My L-rd, I am glad that Howard University gave you your roses while you were alive 🌹 . I would like to also thank them for posting this commencement speech. I noticed you were a man of prayer, you didn’t use a teleprompter or notes, what a talent! Your speech was honest, relatable, and pack with tools those privileged needed to hear as they headed to their respective places. It is 2020 in the midst of a pandemic, racial conflicts, and several month before the presidential election and with so much going on the gems you share about purpose and struggle every POC needs to hear. There are so many things that you shared that no one told me as I headed into the professional world. Like having a degree got me in the door but some the things I experienced forever changed me. Nevertheless, I know my purpose and I can honestly say I maintained my integrity and I didn’t compromise. There is a scripture you shared that I know but thanks for providing a different perspective on it as I wait on G-d to open my next door of opportunity: I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. ~1 Corinthians 3:6-8 KJV Sir I pray that you are receiving your heavenly reward for labor 🙏🏾

Betsy Laughlin So true. I have been thinking we all have choices to become who we will. And to learn about his character at this level I thank G-d for this reminder to keep pressing on towards the higher call! I must admit I not into Afro-futurism, I am a Believer/Christian and it’s my prayer (and active goal) that G-d’s Kingdom will come on Earth as it is in heaven! I love the diversity and richness of all races, and there is a stirring in my being the treatment of POC and specifically of black people that I know is far from JUST! Even the more, I feel the urgency to be apart of helping us developing, realizing, coming into, and seeing ourselves for the greatness that we were created to be! The work I have done so far seems like a drop in the eternal bucket when I continue to see 2020 unfold. I believe all black men and women have a resilience, strength, intelligence, and beauty (and so much more) that needs to be explored, celebrated, and appreciated in all its diverse forms! Our children starve for these examples, our elders are dishonored because they are looked over waiting on the new, thus the cycle continues! To all that read: Be blessed, be of excellence, & be safe and spread life and love to each person you meet because you never know the cross that they bear!

While not all, many celebrities become jaded by life. They stop caring about others, and often are rude offscreen. Chadwick was different. He truly cared about all people, and became a film icon while battling colon cancer. A old proverb states “the wise are hung and the fools are glorified, at least while they are living.” Boseman was an example of this. RiP. You will be missed.

RIP Chadwick Boseman. A fellow Howard alumni. He went there when I was there and probably took some of the same classes since I took many theater related classes. I don't quite recall him but I knew all the teachers and the struggles he was talking about during that time including the sit in, something I witnessed during that time. His life and career had a purpose and he was truly blessed. That story of him getting fired from the soap opera was "All My Children" and the actor they replaced him with was none other than T'Challa's nemesis Killmonger. Michael B Jordan replaced that role for him and in fact, the writers had taken some suggestions that Chadwick had talked to them about and developed the character he played after they unceremoniously fired him for Jordan. He had a short but brilliant career and was such a great human being and a beautiful soul. He will be deeply missed.

Full circle like how he came to thank Denzel at the Black Panther premiere for paying his way for summer classes in Oxford. "Howard required directing students to take acting classes and one summer, Boseman's teacher, The Cosby Show star Phylicia Rashad, wanted him to enter a summer coarse at Oxford. When Boseman couldn't pay for the summer program abroad, Rashad enlisted a friend to help out with Boseman's tuition. The actor wouldn't learn until some time later that it was none other than Denzel Washington who generously provided the funds." " "I've basically been holding this secret my whole career. When I came back, I got a beneficiary letter and it said Denzel Washington paid for you," Boseman recounted in 2018 during a Tonight Show interview with Jimmy Fallon. "I was like, 'What?!' I never wanted to say that until I met him." "Boseman and Washington finally met in person at the 2018 NYC premiere of Black Panther and their exchange was sweet and hilarious. According to Boseman, when he introduced himself and told the story about Oxford, Washington cracked, "Oh so that's why I'm here? You owe me money. I came to collect!"

I remember watching Draft Day and i was very impressed with his acting, i can safely say its not his role of King T'Challa that made the world love him, I can safely say he was loved because he was a brilliant actor in all the roles he played but above all he was a wonderful human being and the world is at a loss without Chadwick.
