The Berserkers went “berserk” they can’t be controlled and start running rampant, like elephants. That wasn’t their control to send them into pikes.

Hi I was the pergs player from the battle. Firstly thanks for doing ur commentary for the replay, always pog to see. Secondly the only rule we had was 124 gc only for all players so they could’ve went for the cap point at any moment. The reason why those berserkers didn’t go for the cap point was cos they were well, berserk. (It’s displayed by the flashing symbol on their banner)They can’t be controlled and just charged the closest unit, which was my pikes. But yeah it was a close game just didn’t have enough to go all the way. Those last few minutes was pretty close but the reason why we didn’t retreat was cos we were hoping that our oathsworn could beat those nobles if those nobles didn’t get their charge off. Still a close game tho.

Having experienced rebellion issues with captured Celtic Arverni settlements (and having to build tons of temples to speed up culture conversion in Celtic lands) in my Marcomanni playthrough now, I felt that death too.

That awkward moment when Apollo calls the Arverni germanic and you can hear Toutatis scream in anger.

Hey I'm lord unicorn. I wonna say sorry I thought this fight was better than It was. I feel like me and my teammate did well in this game and made some rlly nice plays that didnt get seen (its np). We also had a few new ish players in the game including myself so sorry about that. Ty 4 the tips hope it wasn't 2 bad :).

Don't worry too much dude it was alright, and seeing pikes obliterating armies in chokepoints is always entertaining.

The beserkers were out of control you silly goose

This fight is a display of pure incompetence from the attackers.

I'm kind of surprised the Defenders lost. Egypt and Oddressia running full tilt into pikes like that...bah. If the defenders relied more on the archer towers, saved some ammo and fell back to do a 2 layer defense, and let the archer towers take out many Thracians whilst they gave chase...well I think it wouldve ended differently. Also, I didn't note any defender Cav. The trace archers were exposed twice that I could see. Anyway, messy fight but it was entertaining.

That was a stupid replay, the defense needed more money, the attackers fought in the worst ways possible with one entry and running into pikes for the entire game and still won which is crazy

DEI is just so cool because it prevents stacked armies from occurring repeatedly within the campaign using a population mechanic. Ex. a Thracian noble army like this would deplete a whole province’s noble population and ability to recruit units that draw from this class for a long @$$ time.

These pathfinding issues just bug everyone to no end.

One moment I saw just a skin of an elephant's skin . I couldn't believe they had that even at this late . Finally when I saw them , I was like nope , no chance at all .

Where were the Chad Barbarian Boiz? Who were they? I didn't see any barbarians going HAM... unless it happened after the 37:00 mark, when I had to leave for work... it probably happens then.

I love the meat grinder pikes there, like the attackers wanted so bad to have Germanic ground meat for sausages or something.

Has any player been watching Apollo's videos, and actually followed his advice in subsequent battles?

Averni is for sure a gallic faction, Brennus the great was the leader of the averni and invaded the city of rome . The Romans had to pay a lot of gold before Brennus would leave rome. The romans putted all the gold on a big basculle and where complaining it was to much gold . So Brennus became angree and trowed his sword on the basculle, and said " now you have to pay more gold" This happend when rome was just a average city. Interesting stuff to read. Sorry guys for my bad englisch writing. In this period rome had not yet a prof armie...

End of video, I think only thing the defenders could have done was maybe employ pikes sooner. Might have thinned out the enemy a little more, sooner. I didn't see anything egregious personally

Exploit choke points ! No use fighting on open space if your reserves gets fatigue either way in choke points you pointed out you can at least rotate the tired units for a breather so more pressure can be dish out by the attackers costing them to get easily tired to be slaughtered late game

It took the attackers only one instance of not failing to completely win this. Goes to show that this two against three would always end with the defenders losing.

If arverni had moved that fourth unit of chosen swords more forward and not let his battle line get flanked, and if perg had kept the pikes to guard against the elephants (which i don't think he could have seen so it was pure luck) then i think they could have timed out the battle.

Does anyone know what was the highest number of siege towers used in an actual historical siege ? I counted 20 siege towers in this video, if you ask me that's a ridiculously high number but I might be wrong

I think historically, for the most part, it was one or two siege towers tops.

When is the next war in the north episode coming out?

Initially attackers were little too reckless. But gg.

Path finding bug. Tell your units to get on the walls and they'll us the towers again

3vs2 you always must win, unless the 3 players are beginners. If you keep on trying to use the attacktowers sommetimes it suddely works. For 1 thing I am sure, the defenders are no beginners ;-)

Defender should retreating to towers because he was fighting against enemy with tower in neutral too long

the game started 4 min ago, and I dont see a chanse the defenders can win this game. because of manny reasons. The defenders had to hide their forces before they started. Now they showed the attackers where 60% of theyre army is. So they can intercept and change theire strategie. Also the attackers did somme bad things in the start, If you have a whole army extra, yuse it more wisely then they now do. So by now where in minit 9 of the game and hope we gonna see a miracle ;-)
