Today we're sharing with you where we'd like to host wedding ceremonies, after-wedding drinks, and receptions. Queen's Escape was inspired by the 4 years the Belgian royal family stayed at Château de La Tuilerie during WWII. In particular, it is for the Queen. The king took shelter at a different location in France. We've named each of our guest rooms after great Queens of the past and present from around the world. Margrethe, Eleanor, Catherine, Himiko, Cleopatra, and soon our bridal suite will be ready in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
With it's sprawling green meadows, 100-year-old trees, and historic location in the small medieval town of Gluges, the 200-year-old château is truly an escape. With 5 guest rooms to rent and a stunning Orangery, we look forward to welcoming you for a visit or to host your wedding or event.

A woodland ceremony is brilliant; how lovely and soul nourishing.
Brilliant idea of setting up a cooler wedding option for hot summers. The orangerie is breathtaking! The high ceilings and the windows add such an elegant ambience! You have wonderful ideas.❤
So much better without the music ❤ Love the L’Orangerie , the wood & tiles are spectacular!
The orangery is already beautiful, I little TLC and it will be fantastic.
That sounds perfect with the chandeliers and the trees and the aile leading to the orangerie
Lovely chateau.. I commend anyone who has the means and ability to take a project like this on. It just seems a shame to only buy it as a business opportunity.. it all seems a bit clinical and business like rather than a passion project because of the history and life it represents.. above all though hopefully it secures its future for the years to come..
Oh the orangery is beautiful 🤩 the fireplace needs so much moisture added to it. So sad to see it drying out.

Hello Denie. Yes, treating the wood is definitely on our minds.
The cobble stones under the weeds and dirt will be awesome
The woodland wedding sites sound divine for summer and the chandeliers would be gorgeous. I prefer your second option but I'm sure there will be lots to consider and that the final result will be stunning. Looking forward to the transformation.
You would need large strong tents for wedding in front of the Chateau. It would be beautiful.
Could be lovely to have some nice lawn game areas set up on the grass for the guests to enjoy
Everything about the Orangerie is just stunning.
So many wonderful features. You definitely have so much to work with. Looks likes things are in fairly good condition. Looking forward to your progress!
I have a suggestion. If you could open some kind of arches on either side of the doors into the hallway of the orangery ,you could connect the rooms into a great hall which would serve many more people for events or just create a dancing space.

I thought the same. Rather than having two rooms, have one big room, but not sure about supporting walls, but I think that would be lovely when one cannot have the wedding feast outside?
That’s the prettiest terrace ever! Overall the castle is in pretty great shape! Good choice
The Orangery is perfect for the reception, the main room for eating and the other room for the bar and the dancing are, cake, and everything else. Perfect idea on the woodland ceremony, all your ideas so far sound wonderful. Love from N.Y.
I wish I was in your shoes and had a chateau to restore and make beautiful again! I can’t wait to see it come back to life❤
You could do your own fireworks setup as well for wedding.
Looking forward to watching and sharing your journey . Wishing you very success and on your new venture.
Beautiful property, lots of options. Love the large windows and fireplace surround. I would love a place just like this to enjoy renovating and to just live in as a family home, but realise it’s sometimes not financially possible todo this with a property like this. One can only dream!!! Best wishes from Australia x
At Christmas we wrap small lights around the trees up about 6 ft. I’d prefer that in a woodland setting than chandeliers from the trees. The Orangery would look Devine with dimmer switch on chandeliers so you could control the ambiance.
I found that one of the most beautiful spots in the Gardens of Versailles was one of those allee's between trees, where the branches lifted up towards the heavens creating a cathedral effect and glints of sunshine slipped through the leaves above like stained glass leaves in various shades of green ...it was truly a spiritual looking site worthy of a wedding!!!!

p.s. you are cutting the grass in the wrong direction...from the front of the chateau it is supposed to be straight lines leading away from the chateaux, this makes the distance seem even further and gives an even more stately, elegant view of the chateau from the garden...and for photos it'll make everyone look thinner!!!! (You know those pesky mother-in-laws that over eat and drive your girlfriends crazy with their meddling in the marriage and chile rearing)

You described that beautifully.
What you could do is add a loo opposite the entry door & between the two rooms. You could put geraniums in those pots at the bottom of the steps. They're easy, bloom all season, and will bloom until it frosts.
I’d love to hear some history on that incredible fireplace surround! It’s incredible!
Some thoughts. Those tiles in the Orangery are amazing and need to be preserved. To replace them would cost a fortune. The terrace. I would not want to be in high heels walking around on there if I was a guest. You mentioned too that you would have a B&B and they may not appreciate wedding guests milling around on the terrace. The Orangery is amazing with some thought certainly is a good venue. Loved the avenue of trees. Lots of potential and hard work. I call it sweat equity. Do watch other You Tube channels and their efforts to restore their Chateau and run B&Bs and wedding venues. Some of the terraces are amazing. I like nature breaks in the video it gives them a sense of the country side. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. ♥

Hi, loving your ideas and look forward to seeing your progress.
Your alée with chandeliers idea is fabulous. Work with flagstone spaced with groundcover though or another option over gravel. It's horrid to walk over in heels, it gets everywhere and it rings cheap. If you have chandeliers overhead, you need high end underfoot. Also be very very careful with working around those trees and disturbing them. It's pretty easy to shock them with too much work in that area, and die off would be tragic.

Those windows! I have orangerie envy! If so can find some second hand windows like that, perhaps one day I’ll have an orangerie too 🥰
Wonderful seeing everything ❤
Flagstone would be great on the terrace floor
Water pressure might be dangerous for your castle, it might damage the old stone.
I love your new home and your ideas are terrific! I was wondering if you would have a professional kitchen set up in the Chateau for catering the weddings or events? Or would you hire caterers and have a prep kitchen set up in the Orangery for the dinner to be served from there? Also, you will need to have a place for the flowers to be delivered for the wedding or where the florist can set up the flowers and keep them cool prior to the wedding. I love the idea of having the wedding amidst the trees and it would be a beautiful place for photos as well. What ideas do you have if there is rain? I cant wait to see how your restoration unfolds!

Hello Leslie. Thank you for your questions and ideas. We will happily take all ideas into consideration, when we start renovations. The kitchen we have now is supposed to be used for catering in the future. Karen has an idea of how to make her future kitchen in a different room. Stay tuned for that …
Congratulations. Its gorgeous. You showing such detail and moving slowly was wonderful. Can't wait to see journey
At some point we would like a little history about you and your journey. Info about your renovation experience and entertaining credentials would be appreciated, also.
Well, I just can’t get enough of Chateau videos so I’m happy there’s a new kid on the block😄. Being a new subscriber I’d like to know a little bit about you and your husband. You sound American. Where is your husband from? Do you have children? I wish you the best of luck in restoring your Chateau. It is a beautiful property with so much potential for weddings and other events. Thanks ❤️❤️

A lovely place. Lots of work ahead. Great ideas. Very exciting. Look forward to seeing the changes. Best wishes from Australia.
Please have all the chimneys professionally cleaned, and have a steel 'rosette' put on top of each chimney (roof end), so that birds can not fall in accidentally. I would have the chimneys lined as well, as per modern fire safety regulations. I admire you and your hard work.

very beautiful
The steps look gorgeous
You could add a small chapel later.
I would have the wedding at the top of the steps and the guest chairs facing the Château. Then all the pictures will be put with the bride and groom at the top of the steps and the Château inthe pics. Rather than facing out in the lawn and not seeing the château. The steps are very grand looking from a distance. Congratulations!🎉

A lot of work but well worth the effort! 💗
The building is exciting! The floors are marvelous! You have a great potential here for grand weddings!
Excellent sound today. I love 😍 your ideas. The chateau is so well laid out but I agree there seems to be such a massive bare space in front of the chateau. It is crying out for some gardens and a big fountain to soften the area. Maybe also big pots of flowers 💐 on the terrace to add some colour. Big beds of lavendar around the terrace with also soften and add a beautiful smell.

Hello Debbie. You’re right! In fact, before we got the key, I had already drawn some ideas for layouts of a park/huge garden in front of the château. More about that later …
Beautiful event area
You would need to cover the gravel with pavers to have a proper drinks and dancing area.❤

Absolutely lovely chateau. Great ideas and all doable.
Beautiful setting. (For weddings guests, where are the wcs?)
Just a technical suggestion; especially while speaking in a large room with tiles and big windows such as the Orangerie, you really need a microphone as Bo was especially difficult to clearly understand. It may be your next phase of recording technique, but imho, it’s a needed one! Thank you for the clear explanation of your plans and hopes for this beautiful chateau.

Gorgeous….

Stunning just stunning ❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
What was the cost of your chateau? What are your running costs? What heating system do you have? What is the weather like in winter in that part of France?
Fireplace needs the fireplace dogs to hold logs in place. A nice sound system a piano and a little raised area.for a few musicians flute and harp or piano. A Christmas party.
use a pressure washer to clean the stones?
Have you considered having work away people there I don’t ask for myself but it’s something I’ve seen in some of the other château’s that way you can get many things done and all the cost you is food I believe shuttle law people work from seven till three they get free lodging and food and they also have time to be able to do exploring on the road just something to think about🇨🇦

Yes. We are interested in this. I haven't taken the time to research how it's done. But hands... we need hands... and we were hoping to have, maybe, a young couple come and stay that could help.
A beautiful, beautiful place and I love your plans. However, I was wondering about the gravel on the terrace as I've only seen it used in driveways. Using the terrace for a reception/dancing area is a great idea but may work so much better without the gravel. Do you know what's underneath? If there are tile slabs it might make sense to remove it. I'm looking forward to watching each step of your journey.
@BoSAChristensen

Hello Roxanne. Yes, we would like to put flagstones on the terrace. We agree that the gravel is not the best solution.
I wonder if there was a circular drive at one point, in front of the chateau. It’s kind of odd to have the front steps land on the lawn. And your front door and foyer must be there at the front of the building as well? Maybe you’ll give us a tour of your chateau soon. Are you planning overnight accommodations for bridal guests or B/B?
@BoSAChristensen
Жыл бұрын
Hello Nigel&Irma. We don’t know for sure if there was ever a circular drive. We don’t think so. We do know where the old driveway was up until 1935. We have an old gateway, which is missing its ports. The new driveway 1935 - now approaches the Château on the backside between the château and the orangery. This is where the entry door is located. Yes, the B&B is now open.

Is there a room in the orangery to prepare the food?

There will be a bar in the future, but I think we’ll probably do the catering and prep over in our future kitchen in the chateau… I think…
Advice; whatever you do, don't make it into a Disney Land pistache! It is an old old place and that's it's charm!

It is is good to have the farmer cut and bale the hay that you are not going to use, but of course I am almost positive you could rent the hay ground for the purpose of them getting the crop and you getting money for them to do that. It is called renting out, and both you and the farmer gets something out of it. No farmer gets the crop, so to speak for nothing.

Suggestion, I saw a few headstone clean video's from 'Honor your DNA' channel and they use a product called D/2 Biological Solution. It looks to do miracles on cleaning moss and grime off of these headstones Apparently you just spray the solution and let it do its work . Perhaps it'll help you with your cleanup
