@Potcharadanai Animations not syncing with the hit-boxes I'd presume. Happens even in FPS's today, just animations not keeping up/refreshing with what is actually happening.

i love quake 4, one of the best games ever made in my opinion.

@Potcharadanai Yeah, Since he was playing in some mod where the railgun instantly kills even if its nearby his target, and the hitbox(invisible box surrounding the player where the hits are counted) is wider than other games.

@hodenriss True, but I also think with replays it never shows exactly where the person is shooting, it's always a bit off. That or the hit box trails the player a little too far back sometimes (like in cs source).

Actually, FPS gaming as been on consoles just as long as PC's, though there are more games on the PC than there were on consoles. Back in the old days, the more major FPS's like Wolfenstein 3D was on SNES, Doom was on SNES, 32X, Saturn, and PS1 and Quake was on Saturn. Of course, once gaming started becoming more and more popular and recognized by millions, FPS gaming on the consoles started to raise up with games like Halo, Call of Duty, and Half-Life being recognized more on console than PC.

@bob32117 Frame rate issues? You sure? Because when I play Quake 4 I get about 56-60 FPS with no frame rate issues at all running the game at max settings including Vsync on and it only lags during when it autosaves.

I dont play alot of quake....only quake live but...when he shoots the rail gun it doesnt even hit him and he still dies...is that supposed to happen?

interesting observation. But wouldn't the depth of the psychology and strategy in play separate the masters from the grandmasters? Master is in many ways just an entry level of true competence. Do you think that aspect is rote as well at the high levels?

He was on a show talking about his schedule and life. He earns an average of 40,000 and tournament. He plays games 8 hours a day, cause that is how he makes money. He runs 4-5 miles a day and he has a girlfriend. Pretty good life I'd say.

They had a time limit and time ran out when he got that last frag, though I'm sure they had it set to some high number in the game.

I find it funny how they fought on Q3DM17 in Quake 4...

Maybe this is due to lag on the video, it is probably more likely than bad aim but the crosshair seems to be way off when fatal1ty is shooting and I mean WAY off.

no, Doom 3 is multiplayer as well through LAN. Fatal1ty won the first Doom 3 tourney at QuakeCon '04, and thats where his world title at Doom 3 comes in.

@pyroq3 They usually play on other maps. This map isn't even part of the quake 4 map pool in tourneys.

@Dahak753 Yeah, I know that. But I was thinking mostly of the high poly characters and weapons and stuff to. But maybe it was the third person perspective and the fact that you saw the weapons in the first person view that did it. I dunno. I tried it once a long time ago and I found it to be slow and not as dynamic as q3, but maybe that was before new gameplay versions had come. (I prefer insta rail type of games. - found the RG here a bit over the top with the sight and stuff i like it simple)

several ppl have already mentioned this. the better players tend to be on the pc platform since FPS gaming has been on the PC a whole lot longer. In addition hardcore/pro FPS players will tend to pick the PC for FPS games then the console versions. FPS games on the consoles are often plagued with aim assists and bigger hitboxes to help compensate for the lack of accuracy on a analog.
