If any of you are confused about this short... *Why it's called Nine* Basically, it's called Nine because cats have nine lives. And, which ever cat needed to collect the souls, they had to get another cat to do it for them. Once the cat collects nine, those souls return back to the other cat, setting him free. While the other cat is turned it the monster the first cat was. *What's overall going on in the story* So, the first cat was chasing the butterfly the (I'm just gonna call it a demon cat) demon cat sent out. Once the first cat was in the forest, the demon cat gave the first cat the ability of super strength so he could get the souls for the demon cat. Once all the souls were retrieved that were needed, the demon cat didn't have to stay any longer. The demon cat dropped his mask. Soon the first cat had to become the demon cat, and sent out his very own butterfly to lure in another cat to then be set free, back into a normal cat. If this helped, 👇🏻 Please 😉

I think I know... The monster thing at 2:50 offered the cat great power for it's "soul" or something But the cat used the power to kill. And everything it killed's souls went to the monster thing. And this made the monster thing more powerful. And as it grew more powerful, it could free itself. So, it did so, and then the other cat started the curse thing all over again, by putting on the mask.

@@OliverTheAmpersandCat I'm guessing the revenge was on the first cat and animals in the forest. The cat savagely are boars, hunting them down heartlessly (probably an effect of losing its soul) and the animals of the forest saught revenge which ended up in them dying

I showed this to my friend at school a year ago and we both cried about it while nobody freaking noticed us at all

When I was like 6-7 I watched this and bursted out crying when the cat turned into that thing 😭

me before watching: looks cute! *watching* me after the vid: da fuq

So the story is. The kitten tried to catch the butterfly then got in trouble. It met the masked cat and got powers from the masked cat. Then the masked cat turned back time. The kitten then slowly turn evil because it thought everything will hurt him. Then turned into a monster. He blamed the masked cat but after the masked cat took off his mask. The kitten understood everything and starts to regret. But it was too late. The masked cat got it's freedom and left the mask behind. The kitten understood everything and accepted it's fate. After that he creates a butterfly to find another cat to replace him.

:O i get it so the monster was originally a cat but a monster lured him in so he became it and the black adorable cat got lured in and the monster gave him powers and he killed everyone because his vision changed and made normal animals look like killers so he killed them and there souls went to the monster soon he had enough so the monster could become a normal cat again and left the adorable cat to be a monster.(it repeats and repeats with other cats)

I think so, because the cat in the beginning is more innocent and thinks of the creatures as food, then when it becomes a monster at the end the milk becomes blood.

Step 1: Get a Mask Step 2: send out a butterfly to distract a cat Step 3: Have something kill the cat Step 4: take it's soyl but let it live Step 5: Give the cat horribly violent powers Step 6: Cat gets power hungry/trigger happy Step 7: Take every soul the cat has killed Step 8: The cat becomes a monster, and realizes what it's done Step 9: Leave this world, and leave the mask so the "cat" can take over taking souls Step 10: Repeat

This movie just a combination of cute, beautiful, creepy and violent. That monster uses the butterfly to catch the cat's spirit, and then uses the cat as a tool to catch other animal's spirits. Poor that cat! the monster used to be a cat like him. That cute cat 🐱 turns to be a monster at the end and will do the same thing happened to him. It happens in our society, parents get drunk, take drugs, kill people, beat their children, and then those children grow up and they do the same thing with their kids.

I thought this was gonna be cute. This almost made me cry. The poor cat is a monster now.

This is probably the best 3D animated short I've ever seen. The character design was phenomenal, the plot was smooth and it made sense, there is comedy and drama and dark themes wrapped up in only 8 minutes, and the animation style was so fluid! I would 100% be willing to spend money to watch a full length film like this!

dude chill out. This is more of a thriller based animation though more tame then most I have seen, and there is a reason for the thriller classed genre movies. There are things much much worse out there on the internet. Side have you seen some cats? they would not kill things to this extent but if they had the chance to they would in reality kill small animals like birds or what ever else they can get their claws and maws on. if in the wild for food and not in the wild like feral cats it is to bring a gift to their owner if they have roam of the backyard. Though even then some cats would still eat a wild critter if hungry enough. #tum0r has no reason to have someone call them a psychopath for liking something that was made in good quality to the point it was very immersive. Even though this type of animation is not something I am into I can agree that a immersive animation such as this is very good and promising to see. and can stated that the ones who did this know what they are doing and can make things for other genre's if they want to.

Came back to check this out again. Still creepy, but as an animator I can say that the animation quality is amazing.
