In my humble opinion as a CFA charterholder, don’t be discouraged! Keep going! You will nail it eventually! Don’t study to pass but study for the sake of knowledge and enjoy the process of learning! Best wishes to you!!

Thanks kate, I'm going through the level 1 in my first attempt and I practically did books 1 and 2 the same way you did, then I searched for better study practices and find out that indeed reaptition is key. Your video helps me reassuring that those old practices who seem logical at first, might not be the cleverest way to do it.

Your failure will assist someone else to succeed. I’m currently about a year away from finishing my degree in finance and then I’ll be doing this. Thank you for the pointers.

Hi Kate, great video! I am a L3 retaker and found myself making some of the same mistakes you mentioned above. My recommendation would be to consider using a prep provider to supplement your studies. I used Mark Merldrum and Kaplan to pass both L1 and L2 on the first try. Best of luck on your CFA Journey!

It takes a lot of courage to stand up in front of the world and talk about your failures. I wish you the very best for your May attempt. There have been some major changes in Alternative Investments, Portfolio Management and Quant for 2022 as compared to 2021 so better look it up well before time.

I passed L1 (just missed the 90th percentile). Ur first point is mostly correct. Studying for L1 9 months in advance is a bad idea. On the flip side, only taking 2 months to prep for L1 is also a bad idea. Id shoot to start studying 4-5 months out from the exam. Considering that you are going for a second attempt, i dont think youll need the full 4-5 months to prepare for it. I would honestly just jump into the next available window

Calculator is a very important point. I am doing the calculations using the calculator and excel. I would get some of the answers using excel but not with the calculator...so I am still trying to navigator my way around using it.

Quick opinion: try using the pdfs, so that way you can quickly copy-paste imp points to your private notes. Should save a lot of study time comparatively. I’m appearing for level 1 in may too btw.

The 12-C is definitely confusing to work with, I think it would take at least a couple of months to get used to it due to the notation.

firstly thanks for your recommendation . wanna ask is it enough Curricilium tests from websites and Kaplan tests solely for the exam? stand alone they nearly are 5K

hey! i used only the CFA curriculum without any extra materials. I heard Kaplan is good but i think there are enough practice questions in the official cfa prep as well

"Just evaporates", I have the same problem. XD I'm preparing level 1 before enroling in the programe and setting up the exam date. but planing to pass it next year. And I'm taking notes also. Exact same case with me, Kate. Failed Nov 2021. Going again for May 2022. The mistake I made was not enough practice. I just went through the curriculum and it was not sufficient.

oh i totally feel you, same happened with me. I couldnt imagine there are so many questions to go through. And i also think you need to do the practice questions at least twice to make sure all the knowledge settles in. Best of luck in your preparation!

No, you cannot take anything to the exam, only the calculator. Funny thing is that they dont even allow you to take the water to the exam room, you have to leave it outside

3000 pages to learn, 3000 questions to practice. BLOODY HELL. I am rethinking myself now.

Use BA II plus calculator easy and mast and her calculator is quite difficult lol

We can do only cfa or any coure before that
