Hi Gulnar, I love your videos! I'm currently preparing myself to apply for the 2025 summer student program and also the open lab. I've applied in the last two years but wasn't eligible because of my vacation period and I hadn't completed three years yet. But now, I'm eligible, as well as meeting the mandatory criteria and the technical requirement for both programs. However, I've had difficulties in writing my motivation letter for these applications. I have many motivations that make me want to be a part of CERN programs, but I don't know exactly how much they want to hear about our motivation to be part of the team. I'm not sure if they want me to talk more about the results and impact of my professional project in my motivation letter. So, I want to know what you think about that? How did you prepare yourself to write your motivation letter (and also to answer the questions about why you want to join CERN in their forms for candidates)? I can present it as a narrative, discussing a bit of my past, where I came from, and the decisions I made in my career to be eligible for the CERN program (all these topics connect to my motivations to participate in CERN)? If it's possible, could you show me how you wrote about your motivations? Another thing I'm unsure about is how to describe the experiences and also the education in the forms. There's a section in the professional form to provide a description about the topic you're adding. My question is, are these parts of the forms for putting the same description we put in the CV, or is it to give more details about what we did in each experience, or something else?

Hey gulnar! I wanted to ask you a few questions. Also, these questions pertain to the Short Term Internship Programme 2024, not the Summer Student programme, so it's okay if you can't help me out with this. 1. Will edX certifications in physics specifically statistical phy, ML, Astro and QM really benefit my selection? For context I'm currently in engineering (always been interested in physics esp Astro and particle. 2. I have no projects, no work experience or internship experience and only have the above mentioned certifications from EPFL. What projects do you think i can take up in engineering to increase my chances.

@@gulnarswe I'm anyways not eligible for this year. I just got into 2nd year of college and wanted to ask that what would you suggest me in terms of skills and CV building as I have more than 1 year left to apply and I'll be majoring in Data Science. What things aside of my uni should I do to increase the chances of acceptance? What projects would you do if you were at my place, not in terms of exact names but a broad idea. I expect a long detailed reply, thanks for reading!!

Just one question, Inside the application we are asked for the motivation for this internship (in 1440 characters max) , so do we have to submit a motivation letter external to that internal motivation also or will it be just fine?

I submitted seperated motivation lütter to there. Otherwise that section doesn’t make sense

Should we stay completely for 8 weeks , since my college academics is colliding with that dates i can stay for only 5 weeks

I think you have to stay 8 weeks but you can arrange your start date
