Cerave Renewing Salicylic Acid Cleanser
Considering, its around 10-15 bucks for a whole 8 ounces, really is an affordable face wash, especially because the small amount needed to effectively cleanse your face, really means you wont be running out of it anytime soon.
Does the Cerave Salicylic Acid Cleanser Clog Pores? Cerave SA Face Wash.
First off, what I have to give credit to is the fact that the renewing Cleanser is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores.
Secondly, it doesnt have any of those mechanical exfoliants, those beads, which can be too harsh, and using them too often can leave your skin dry, raw, or red.
Thirdly: it has a ph level of 5.5, which is great since its closer to the skins natural ph, unlike some soaps that can be too disruptive.
Fourthly, it is enriched with vitamin D.
How Much Salicylic Acid in Cerave Cleanser?
This cleanser includes the words “SA” or salicylic acid in its name but doesn’t list it as an active ingredient on the label. Products usually include between 0.5 percent and 2 percent salicylic acid as an active ingredient, it’s possible that this cleanser contains less than 0.5 percent salicylic acid, since it doesn’t list it as an active ingredient at all.
How Often to Use Salicylic Acid Cleanser?
Now lets get into the first game changing tip which is frequency. Now most will go ahead and start using it once or twice a day. Nothing wrong with that. But starting at 2-3x a week and gradually increasing it after a few weeks to daily use will have your skin tolerating it better. There's no exact science, mostly just trial and error to see how your skin reacts. Those who say the product was too harsh, can benefit from this method instead of daily usage or twice a day usage. Remember, we want the most results out of it with the least amount of product used. If your trying to use it moreso for the body, than the CeraVe Body Wash with Salicylic Acid may be better suited as it works a little better on thicker skin.
How Much Salicylic Acid to Use?
A Coin Sized Amount Works Well. Youll find that in order to get the perfect lather, the skin has to first be wet. But to wet the skin, the hands need to be completely washed off and cleaned first before it touches the product dispenser and then the face. You can accomplish with about 1 full pump.
How Long to Wash Your Face With Salicylic Acid?
Timing of the actual wash. Now if youre in a hurry, and you dont have a 5 step skincare routine, you might be washing your face too fast. Or for too long for that matter. There is a sweet spot with this product. An appropriate face-washing session, should last no longer than two minutes. If youre going over 2 minutes, that excess scrubbing, rinsing, and cleansing may disrupt healthy sebum production and dry out your skin.
Should You Use Sunscreen With Salicylic Acid?
The fourth game changing tip is the use of sunscreen after this product, in your daytime routine. Because salicylic acid thins out the surface of the skin, sunscreen is a necessity with it, as your skin may be more vulnerable to sun rays. So After you apply your salicylic acid cleanser, you may apply a soothing moisturizer, wait about 1-2 minutes, and then top that off with a sunscreen.
How Long Does Cerave Salicylic Acid Take to Work?
And in terms of how long should you wait to see results, lets say if you wanted to switch back to your normal cleanser. You should see results at the 4 to six weeks mark. If you dont see any results at the 4 week mark, give it another 2 weeks for both noninflammatory and inflammatory acne.

A very mild wonderful wash! I have dry skin and it didn’t aggravate my skin at all. I took makeup off first then washed with this product. I also used CeraVE resurfacing cream and then CeraVE night cream or a night cream with hydralaunic acid . Love the CeraVE products! I also switch between the CeraVE moisture wash.
