You sold me on the rotary! Just bought a Harbor Freight Hercules cordless Rotary Polisher. It was FREE with the purchase of two 5AH batteries and since I wanted the batteries.... It is $99 tool only. Used it today - it is really great, very smooth, not heavy and nicely balanced. I will be replacing the grease like Apex Detail always does - LOL!

I polished and coated wife’s blue print Highlander using 8+3 year stack. The metallic paint looks like it should have from factory. Amazing difference in look but slickness is crazy. Totally agree on the white paint. These coatings are very easy to apply as I'm a novice and managed to do both my truck and wife's SUV without issue.

The key to putting a ceramic coating on is lighting. Obviously there are other things lol, but lighting is huge. I've only did it a couple times. The first time I did it outside because I don't have a bunch of lights in my garage. And I missed a bunch of stuff. You can think you have everything leveled down and wiped off, then the next thing you know you find five or six places you need to fix. It was so frustrating. Doing it in a garage with all of those lights above would be heaven lol. Excellent Video is always.

To avoid the high spots and drips/running you on the edges I have a solution. What I do is start with the circular spreading in the middle when you've just loaded up the applicator. That way you're not doing the edges when the applicator is its most saturated. Otherwise you tend to get that running. That way you can just keep working in circles right up to your edges spreading outward!

Yet I watched an other DIY Detail video yesterday about a simple process of ceramic coating a new Suburu which DID include a spot remover stage to clean out the pores of the paintwork. I've recently tried the fine grade clay towel from another company and was not at all impressed. Compared to my Griot's Garage synthetic clay the towel doesn't remove anything and is more difficult to use. I want to give the towel another shot using your ultra fine grade version but not sure that will make a difference.

Have a new car 2 months old. Applied spray ceramic coatings like McGuires and Turtle wax along with a Iron wheel cleaner during the first 3 weeks of owner ship. There is not one scratch or swirl mark on the paint. Lots of orange peal but show me a new car that is not full of orange peal. Rather have an extra layer of clear coat than a paint corrected car. I live in Florida so sun use of products that don't like sun are not worth it. My question is I am happy with my car the way it is. Use of polishes and buffing in the past have always resulted in disaster. I keep my cars a long time. So whats the best way to just keep my car the way it is. I use a foamer and two buck method and spray rinse off products. Never heard of decontamination a new car until I started watching detail videos although it makes a lot of sense. I would image less than 5% of new car owners have their paint decontaminated. So whats the best way to keep the car just the way it is.

Spyker use iron remover on wheels after you wash them to maximize iron removing power from the chemical. I coat two panels at a time then go bsck level them back to back then coat another two panels. I also two coats using less coating eacg application and them i don't worry about having leftover coating two light coats are better than 1 thick coat. Love your other coating its soo glossy

I couldn't quite understand. Can you demo how you would remove the dust the next day? By the way, I couldn't see the pattern (if any) when applying the coating. What kind of special towel are you using to apply the coating? And what are the other towels type that will dry it? Are these throw away after, or are they washable? How many months/years of protection does this coating provide? Is one bottle enough to cover an suv or van or car? For maintenance, will future washes be done with incredible suds only? Thank you.

  • @diydetailofficial

If it gets dust the next day, don’t worry, don’t wash it for a week. On a white car it’s very difficult to see. We use a foam applicator to apply the coating. We use a pearl weave for the initial leveling, then a plush towel for the insurance wipe. The applicator and towels are washable. We offer 3, 5. And 8 year coatings One bottle covers on average 2 sedans. Washing can be done however you want.
