I recently started detailing and want to do a ceramic coating. It looks fairly easy to do and I feel it would be hard to mess up but with it being my first time doing it what should I charge? Maybe just have the client cover the cost of supplies?

No… you’re charging for your work along with the supplies, don’t short change yourself. It is fairly easy, but your charging for the convenience part of it. Anyone can ceramic coat seats, it’s just a matter of who’s willing to do the work. So I would tell you to charge for supplies plus a little something for you to pocket for your time and efforts. And since you’re starting, I’d say $100-$150 for two front seats plus 2nd row. If there is a 3rd row, charge more

i followed these steps on my black leather but im left with high and low shine streaks. also, the leather looks a bit faded in some areas like a think layer of chalk. how can i fix this?

After ceramic coating, you should use leather cleaner mild. A conditioner won't accomplish much as you have encapsulated the leather in a layer of ceramic. The ceramic does add UV protection as well to slow sun degradation as well.

@@jayeast3830 flawless. i never wear blue jeans, so can't tell you about that, but my white seats are still looking brand new. every week or so i just spend 2 min wiping it down with baby wipes no matter if i see dirt or not.

You don't/can't polish matte paint, it would chew up your pad. Ceramic coating is super easy on matte cars, wash, chemical decontamination then paint prep then coating. There are matte specific coatings, no polishing no clay bar required!

Fr I remember when I use to work in a car wash , my manager made me polish and wax a matte paint and omg man that car came out soo bad even tho I told the manager you can’t do that to a car like that ☠️

@@lynxestxmp1932 I wouldn't doubt it. Gloss paint is a more flat clear coat, hense when you polish, you level out the surrounding clear coat so that scratch basically dissappears, or get rounded off. Matte clear cost is very bumpy, and uneven, reducing the shine, so if you do try to level that out with a polish, I can imagine how bad it would look haha. But don't get discouraged, it's such an easy ceramic coating install, easy sell as it doesn't cost nearly as much to the customer either.

Seats were cleanish you don’t want to scrub or agitate too hard can remove dye or fade the leather James did the right thing. And for his time, materials , gas in vehicle, gas in generator, coating, supplies, employee cost, taxes, insurance you start to see why it’s 75$ per seat and that is a FAIR price it should be 100$ a seat EASY w an employee to be profitable. I can tell you don’t run a business homie

Only dumb people pay to get this done. You can EASILY do it yourself. I own a new Porsche and Maserati… I do the wash/ detail, ceramic c coat myself and you save a TON of money .
