My original baseball memory was in 1950 going with my grandfather and my uncles to see the Philadelphia Athletics play when 5'6" Bobby Shantz was pitching and Eddy Joost was playing shortstop. Fast forward about 30 years later I find myself in a Chicago hotel elevator standing next to Charles Finley the owner of the Oakland A's with a young lady I presumed to be his daughter and we started talking and as I got off the elevator I said it was a pleasure to meet you and your daughter. He said "she is not my daughter you dolt!" I was at a loss for words.

You screwed me in the '84 Series. When we would go to San Diego to visit Grandma in the early 70's, I would listen to the Padre games on Her radio by Her bed when we weren't able to go to the Games!!! I once saw a 14 inning game against the Pirates; were at Jack Murphy Stadium until 2:30 AM !!! I had sooooo many cool stories to tell my Friends when I would come back to Louisiana!!!!!! The San Diego Chicken was the SHIT !!!!!! Padres sucked, yet I Loved Them !!!!!!
Thankyou John+friends Great tune!

The boys of summer 🖒
Yogi and Jackie collide at home plate;Clash of the Titans.
The amazing thing is that John apparently played all the instruments on this recording, bass, guitars and even drums. That's impressive!
They played this song on Classic Rewind one day and remarked that he wrote this song after snarling and going nuts screaming at the TV over a baseball game and his team was playing poorly. I loved the song anyway, and love it more with the story.
Another one of John Fogerty's Treasures.
This isn’t what I was looking for, but thank you for reminding me this awesome song exists.

@@sodaking6858 i miss the yankee's clipper too
I listen to this song every spring when baseball comes back on
One thing I miss about living down south in Georgia. EVERYONE was about the Braves and they would play this song all the time when baseball season came around. You KNOW it is summer. I live in Maine now. No baseball. No songs. No summer. Yep.
So reminds me of my brother n law RIP BOBBY ETHEREDGE
