Boy does this bring back memories. Used to stay with my grandparents in West End, and can still hear the old steam winding engines of the Celynen South and clanking of the coal trucks.

My father was born in celynen trc, he was forged of iron and coal blacksmith, collier Prince Wales colliery, collier at south celynen pit for cannon miss you dad

I worked there for two weeks in 1972 or 73 during the 'miner's fortnight', when the steam engine was cut up and the electric winding engine from Wattstown National was installed.
