Rod Wallace scored an 86th minute winning goal just minutes after Jorg Albertz had missed the chance to win the match from the penalty spot. Johan Mjallby conceded the penalty when he pulled Neil McCann back as he raced into the box but incredibly was only shown a yellow card for his professional foul. Jonathon Gould saved the shot but could do nothing when Wallace raced round him to score after a clever pass from Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
In a match dominated by Celtic, it was 'Der Goalie' Stefan Klos that was the hero for Rangers, making a number of saves, the most impressive of which coming against Mark Viduka and Mark Burchill. Celtic thought they had scored midway through the second half, but thankfully the linesman spotted Viduka's cheating arm as he controlled the ball.

Quite a weird game that night. Remember the centre of the pitch being like a swamp, much like the rest of that hell hole. We were under pressure for so much of that night, brilliant performance by Craig Moore at the back. Also love the look on that taig ball boy's face as he kicks the ball in shear bigoted anger.

The best bit was when after rod Wallace scored the late winner ...the ball boy tried to kick the ball out from behind the goal...Gers pride of Glasgow!!Then Now and always !..Mel Norwich England.🇬🇧

What a tackle by Moore on Viduka
Look at those two line ups : petrov, Mjallby, Viduka, Moravcik, Van Brockhurst, Newman, Ferguson, Klos. You can really see the difference in class from the 97 or 98 teams. Go back and watch some of the defending in those games. Stuff of nightmares.

Before Albertz broke Stephan Klos' wrist, Klos was our BEST KEEPER EVER !!! He was Far better than 'The Goalie' and 'shagger'. Klos had it ALL !!!
Not much changed still 12 points ahead 11 years on lol. Rod the prod was magic that night!

This Rangers team had a fantastic starting line up, no argument there. It's just a pity that Rangers couldn't afford this team and had to revert to EBTs which gave them an unfair advantage over other teams. Justice was done I am pleased to say, and I'm a Jambo before anyone replies with the usual bigoted nonsense that some Rangers fans love to spout.

@@archiefury Actually the EBT's came after we bought this team. So your argument doesn't really make sense. Also Lord Nimmo Smith's commission ruled that ''No sporting advantage was gained''. Also what ''bigoted nonsense''? What's that got to do with you being a Hearts fan?

The pullback on Neil McCann was outside the box, therefore not a penalty - although not surprised given Jim McCloskey denied Stéphane Mahé an absolute stonewaller at Ibrox the season before.
I take no sides here I am from England but I am watching the sad decline in the Scottish premier league love them or hate them Rangers presence is required to make it a more competitive league and attract more crowds, Scotland needs them finishing 4th in their group is unsatisfactory for a nation that has lit up previous world cups

this was the second old firm game in a row at Parkhead. The one before that was 1-1 and i remember Viduka scoring but for the life of me i cant remember the Rangers goal. Can anyone help me out here?

Funny how 20 plus years later and selltick still play the same type of football. Route 1 lunk it and hope for the best.

How did Viduka ever get a move to England?!
Only Scottish league game I was ever at. Got a home ticket beside the away section. Saw that night the true nature of old firm fans. Only short of throwing sh** at each other. Apes in colours. Glimmer of hope a few years back when one chimp cage folded, thought the other might fade away without its demented lover. But no, back they came, sustained by past glories and backward politics. Still jumping around screaming at each other while 22 2nd rate mercenaries hack at a ball. An irrelevance to real football fans, and Scotland's shame. A plague on both your houses.

That would only make sense if Rangers died. The old company was liquidated, and the club was bought over by a new company.
