Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Cellulose insulation is a great choice for insulating walls, especially double-stud walls that can be filled with dense-packed blown-in insulation. In this video, we discuss everything you need to know about cellulose insulation. From its performance, cost, sustainability, and installation, this video will help you start insulating your walls with cellulose.
Here's what we'll cover in this video:
00:00 Introduction
01:11 Why choose a double stud wall?
01:36 What's the best insulation for a double stud wall?
02:15 Is cellulose fire-resistant?
02:24 Is cellulose a good insulator?
02:41 Do bugs damage cellulose insulation?
02:49 Is cellulose insulation a sustainable material?
03:10 How do I keep blown-in insulation for settling and creating a gap at the top of the wall cavity?
03:20 Do I need straps to hold blown-in insulation in place in my walls?
04:49 How much does it cost to insulate a wall with dense-packed cellulose?

At a PHIUS conference several years ago, there was a study in 4 places across the country. They put hygrometers in the walls and monitored them over a year. The walls ended up at about 19%RH. They didn't dry out as previously thought over the summer. At 21%RH you get mold starting. BIBS, dense packed fiberglass, is a higher R-value, can't settle, is largely made from recycled glass and is a tested system on every job. And cellulose is supposedly recycled, mostly from newsprint. Where are the newspapers coming from?? Having a blower door and an IR camera, I have found cellulose filled walls settled in as little as 3 months.

They told me about humidity retention as pro today... They said it prevents water condensation from dripping inside... You say that it will create mold over time?

I am now installing drywall over blown cellulose insulation and having troubles with the bulging. I suppose I could strap, but then I would have to re-set all the electrical boxes. At 4:21 you mention a tool "belly roller"... Did I hear right? What is a belly roller? Googling only turns up exercise equipment. Maybe that is what you mean? Thanks

Maybe share how one can calculate how much they need (how many bags) per wall size. Since apparently that information is a top secret information that is not disclosed or can be found????????

I am a big fan of cellulose. I would like to buy and erect my self a metal frame home made by arched cabins out of Texas. I am interested in their 30x30 sized cabin to give me 600 sf on the main floor. The arch is 18 ft tall so I can have a 7 ft ceiling on the first floor erect a loft for 300 or 400 sf. The arched cabins is erected using metal ribs with 2 ft center spacing. I want to use cellulose batts between the metal ribs. I want to cover the metal ribs with thinner cellulose bat or strips I cut from bats. I hate drywall. Since cellulose dos not burn can't I cover it with ply wood or ship lap?....Arched cabins gives u insulation sheets u wrap over the ribs. Then u add the metal siding which also gives u a metal roof. Is this wrap sufficient......to prevent air intrusion? Perhaps I need to tape the ends of the insulation? Can u quote me cellulose batts? I want 6 inch or 8 inch hick for between the ribs. Can u quote me tape to seal the ends? The metal ribs are screwed to the wooden floor. I want to insulate between the joists with cellulose bats again ,6 in or 8 inch. What wrap do u suggest to put on the outside of the floor to prevent heat cold from entering the floor? I am going to build on piers. The bottom of the floor will be three feet above ground for a crawl space. I am going to buy extra metal siding sheets and close off the bottom of the house to 6 in from the bottom of the floor. This 6 inch will be wood to slow for windows to vent the crawl space. Do u sell double paned windows narrow nough to fit between the metal ribs on two feet centers? If so quote me for these. Also uote for double paned windows three feet wide wide by and four feet wide. Do u have non opening windows same dimensions? Pls quote these as well? If u are not familiar with arched cabins go to their website? Also there are many u tubers who post there raising of an arched cabin kit. The u tube channel landio has posted a number of videos describing arched cabins.......I am fascinated by passive house. I believe in wrapping this house to prevent air intrusion, plenty of insulation, also to prevent thermal bridging....send me what u suggest to. Anthony barbuto.....1964 south road......unit 151..... Hi Anthony! Thanks for watching our video - we hope you found it helpful. At this time, our online store doesn't sell cellulose insulation. Your best bet is to find an experienced contractor in your area to quote your project. Have them visit the site, and be sure to collect several quotes. You'll get the best results with a contractor that understands and shares your goal for your home. If you're fascinated by Passive House, let them know! Best of luck, Anthony!
