I watched my mom die from cancer almost a year again and I no what Minnie meant when she said she don't wanna go. My mama said the same thing. By God only I'm able.
I was 15 years old when she passed and I remember crying with my neighbors when we got the news. Still so sad that she left so young. 💛

Whitney had the ability to go higher, she had a whistle register but never used it. Minnie was a genius! I adored her and was devastated when she passed. I was 4 and a half and I will always remember the Minnie Riperton tribute on Soul Train.

Yes Minnie the voice the legend the goat her voice was a gift from god that octave was sublime. Your flowers legend 🌹🪻🌸🌷🌻🌼💐💐🌹🌼🪻🌻🌸🌷🌺
Minnie Riperton's Lovin You is a timeless classic song
Deniece Williams has a 5 octave also. Deniece had been singing back up for Stevie Wonder for a number of years. I've always believed that's why she didn't get the credit Minnie did. "Back Down Memory Lane" is my favorite song of hers. When she sung that note, "I don't wanna go," it gave me chills as a child. When I got older, I found out that she knew she was dying and that's what she was singing about. One of my sisters used to sing that all of time when I was little. She could hit that 5 octave throat whistle too. One of my favorite album covers of all time is the "Perfect Angel" cover. Thanks for this upload. You brought back some fond memories for me.

Facts I didn’t know she passed away
Many people have been able to reach the whistle register but not everyone can sing actual words at that pitch. Minnie could and it was so effortless and natural to her. She was a special talent. May she continue to Rest In Peace.
Still cant hear Memory Lane without getting that sad feeling ...I remember her from back in the early 70s...Beautiful voice and personality.
You said a official documentary needs to be made... There has been... You just made it... Been a day one fan and I will remain a fan.. There was no one like the late great Minnie... She influenced so many and she still is to this day... Continue to rest in peace ❤❤❤

No Shade to Mariah Carey, but the credit for the most powerful voice that reached a milestone was no other than Minnie Ripperton. R.I.P to the legendary most powerful artist with a voice that should have recieved the highest achievement in every music category that ever existed. ❤❤❤❤
I was introduced to Minnie Riperton’s music when I was 15 (1995)My uncle bought me a radio for Christmas and I used to play WDAS. They played old school music. The first song I heard from her was Loving You. They used to play Back Down Memory Lane a lot. . Inside My Love is a beautiful song❤ I fell in love with with her voice. When you’re 15 the age 31 sounds old. But now that I am 44. Her passing away at 31 is sooo young and crazy to me. She passed away they day after I was born. I was born July 11,1979. Thankyou for telling her story❤. She’s a Angel. May She Rest Well 🕊️
Memory lane is my all-time mini Rippleton favorite song of hers it sounds like she’s crying out
I saw an interview where Maya said she was "acting up" or something like that, in the studio while Minnie was recording "Lovin You" and at the end of the song (I had to go back and listen to the song once she said this 😊) she sang "Maya, Maya, Maya, Maya, la la la la la la la. (Y'all know how it goes! 😂😂 and they just ended up keeping her singing her name in the song. RIP Mrs. Riperton-Rudolph❤

I remember Minnie Riperton Rudolph very well she was a great singer i was 14 years old when she died. I seen her appearance on Soul train and American bandstand it was very sad that she was so sick. My mother died of mestatic breast cancer in 1997, she loved minne riperton also. When minne would sing her voice was so angelic on unsung what really touched my heart is that her husband still cries about how much he misses and love her and never remarried.
Minnie Ripeton is a beautiful soul with an angelic voice.❤💐🌠
I loved it whenever Minnie came on the radio in the early 70s, Had to buy her albums. I had a very definitive collection of her music on casette tapes. I especially loved her "Perfect Angel" album...and especially her underrated hit, "Lovin You"! I played that song endlessly...until I got into other genres of music, like smooth jazz and the like...but I felt very sorry the day she died in 1979. I was so numb that I had to play "Lovin You" so many timews to console myself. All I can say now today is that I her "Perfect Angel" CD and I played it for my daughter until she was 7 years old. God bless her soul, I loved her high octave range and such a beautiful voice....so gifted. She blessed us all...her upbringing and all...plus also giving us her equally talented daughter, Maya Rudolph. God bless her. I loved Minnie...keep singing and soar with the angels in praise! Thank you for your voice and talent, Minnie...I'll see you in heaven soon.
That voice of hers, that's how I will remember Minnie. Loving You has always been a favorite of mine. Just wish she was here now to sing more and see her daughter Maya be the sensation that she is now.

I have always Been fascinated with Minnie ripperton since I was 7 years old back in late 70s. I used to watch Her perform live. And what captivated me was the live orchestra behind her, it was so. Theatrical to me, I studied her rifts from Front to back top to bottom. As a young adult, 1990 I ended up moving on Jasmine street. When they are ran into a young girl by the name of Carla. I mean, Carla became very good friends. We decided to start a singing group together called Kayla. I met Carla and her aunt at the corner store. Her aunt name was Sandra Ripperton She started talking to me and I told her that I sang her voice had a distinct tone to it and I said. Hey, wait a minute, are you related to Minnie ripperton? That's when she said yes, that's my Sister, so we all left the store and walked back to sandra's apartment, she had a huge lifesize picture of Minnie ripperton and a bunch of l Memorabilia I was also able to Meet marcus Minnie' Rippertons son beautiful family
