I remember listening to him and Patti Austin sanging Baby Come To Me as a little girl in the 80s. His range and vocals were gospel rooted for real. He’s underrated in a major way. Didn’t know he wrote P.Y.T. Love that song. LaToya sang back up on that song. Thank you for featuring him and taking the time to research his life. Much appreciated.❤❤❤❤❤
So many musicians have passed on but we are still being BLESSED with their music!!

If you listen to all of the talent that was on the "we are the world" record and the video, James's voice is by far the most powerful voice of them all, I have always loved James's music, another great performance by him is a KZread video of him and Tamia, singing "How do you keep the music playing", hosted by Robert Townsend. @jewelofaries James was so hot, with a golden voice and talent that just soared through the decades. He had so many number one hits for himself and other artists....He is sorely missed. ✨😌
All American music is Black music. Let's not forget that African Americans are the creators of Rock, Country, Blues, Jazz, EDM/House, etc. These genres were stolen and white washed and African American artist are marginalized to Urban categories of music to perpetuate negative stereotypes surrounding the African American community. Additionally, Pop simply means "Popular" however Pop music has been synonymous with whiteness while Black has been associated with "Urban" even though Blacks created every genre of music in America. Just because you are Black, that does not mean that you are "R&B". All music is Black music. White America has wrongfully stolen and white washed everything. Even the Latin categories are white washed with white Latinos even though Afro Latinos created every Latin genre of music from Salsa to Reggaeton 😑😑😑😑😑

Thank you for taking the time to carefully give the timeline of this musical genius. Time is inevitable and we have to embrace those moments. James was a guy I played every chance I could due to the melodic sounds of how he brought the song to a reality. As a DJ I was very personable with artist creativity and talent. We are losing our legends so rapidly that I feel we should embrace every moment with them whether in a song on the radio or next to them on the couch. We know they are our history to embrace forevermore!!
