Unfortunately even if he hadn’t been killed by Dr. Walter Palmer he would’ve been killed by a younger stronger male lion before his grandchildren were born and the male lion who killed him would be the father of his grandchildren. But of course that’s better than trophy hunting. Always better to let nature run its course

The cubs are so tiny and adorable. Trophy hunting is disgusting. When a pride male is killed it can leave the pride vulnerable to nomadic males who can come in, kill the cubs and take over the pride and sire their own offspring. When will this travesty end? What is so cool about a dead, stuffed lion in someone's living room? 🦁😓

@@donnk Exactly how are they contributing to the upkeep of the park? With money? Nah - the excess money just goes into the pockets of the owners. We might be "bleeding hearts" but at least we're realistic enough to know that businesses work on maximizing profits and not channeling profits for the betterment of others out of the goodness of their hearts. Couldn't roll my eyes farther back. The park has enough money for maintenance coming in from annual tourism, visits, fundraisers, government assistance, loans, etc. For sure, the ones that don't resort to canned hunting for maintenance but such sanctuaries shouldn't exist to begin with. IDK how you can say with confidence - or is it arrogance? - that park rangers would have gotten rid of Cecil "anyway" sans any report of previous such occurrences. I have never heard of park rangers going around interfering with wildlife unless humans themselves are in danger. At the end of the day, sanctuaries that resort to hunting for maintenance *should not* exist to begin with - only those that can sustain themselves and are financially stable enough to do so SANS hunting should remain. Also, idk how you can say hunting contributes to genetic diversity. My understanding of Biology seems to work differently from yours apparently. If you mean natural selection, it's hardly natural selection since literally no animal have defenses against a modern day rifle. Argument invalid. Genetic diversity occurs out of natural competition - not competition from man-made rifles.

Animal care and consevation should be a worldwide concern. Trophy hunters must be kept in jail with no rights whatsoever. The same happens with the ivory business. Consumers are the knot of the problem and the most evil humans. They deserve the highest punishment and control.

@@paulg6527 have you heard of CULLING? the overpopulated animals would be killed by the park rangers anyway. This is needed to ensure a balanced ecosystem. By opening it up to hunters the parks earns money which it otherwise wouldnt have. JFC read a book. Either the lion dies from the park ranger or he dies from a hunter.
