Cebu In Old Photos
These type of videos require a lot of time to produce. Each black and white photo has been colorized to bring life to the video. To produce a six minute video takes many hours to make, yet it is likely to appeal to a small audience, but I put the effort in to create something different and hopefully encourage people to do further research.

Thank you for doing this.. As an Australian living in Phills. , I walk around my city here and try to find old buildings.. I first came to CDO in 1967 as a 20year old looking for adventure.. There were many fine buildings but being young I never thought of photographing them.. As I go around and point out where I used to live,, my friends ask why i lived in a slum.. Gets difficult to explain to them that where I stayed was a good area ,, middle class where moms and dads raised there kids to live a good life. But times change and things change with them.. I wonder if we were to come back in 50 years would these new bright condos just be vertical slums because the population moved to a new area and a newer city developed with bigger and shinier condos... I lived in Nazareth for a long time and it was beautiful there... Safe, friendly people and no rush... Now it has all changed..........But I guess that is life.... Things evolve...... Thanks for posting these old memories of the Philippines... If I was a Filipino I would be proud to watch this and think how times were a better and slower pace...

@Slim Jim. Wow Jim, you have a lot of history there compared to me, my first visit already married was on vacation in 1999, and we bought a property and moved there late 2007. Miss the place like hell, we're back in NZ temporarily, the plan is to return to our home eventually. I'm 7 years your senior Jim. In 1967 i was a Traffic Cop here after Military service in Malaya. @@daddybob6096 If I remember correctly, traffic cops then operated "stop/go flag" enclosures on the middle of an intersection like Colon and Jones (Osmena Blfd). Or maybe it was in the early 60's.

Amazing. I never knew there were railroads back then. Something I like to look at in old photos is how people used to care about how they dressed. Thanks for the video.

Big up VPP, fantastic job! Thank you very much. I especially liked the boats in the old harbor and wharf pictures. It makes me think of the time (beginning of the 20th century) when Europe (especially France) had boats taking passengers and goods to Indochina where they had settled.

Thank you for sharing these photos, it means a lot to me. My father in law was born in Siquijor in 1927, and these photos are a reminder of how he would have seen things as a boy or a young man. I know he spent time in Cebu City as well.

Interesting, i often think about what it would have been like in the early days, before the invention of fossil fuelled vehicles, i'm sure life would have been so much more pleasant and a slower pace as well. I remember a few years ago standing on the roadside near the former, 'Metro Mandaue', and all i could see along the road in the distance was pollution from diesel vehicles, it really was quite bad, not seen anywhere before by me, in any country.

if only the train stations maintained and even added on and the trains also maintained there would have been no traffic in cebu. and the cebuanos will fare better because farmers can easily bring their produce to the city and food will be cheap. now huge debt incurred for more roads which overtime cannot absorb the population increase and food becomes more expensive as trucks are more expensive and not able to bring lots of goods compared to trains
